View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen my computer finishes starting up, it ends with what looks like blobs of colored pixels in a line at the top of my screen. This happened for the first time tonight and I have no clue what happened. I took out my video card and plugged my monitor into the mother boards vga slot. Same result. Then i used a HDMI cable from my monitor to my motherboards HDMI slot. Still, with the same result.
I plugged my Xbox 360 up to monitor with the HDMI cable and it looks fine so it's not on the monitor's end. When the computer is loading, the screen stays black. Then when my desktop would normally show is when the pixels show up and the rest of the screen is black.
Is it possible with Windows Mail to used colored text in the SUBJECT line? If so, how is it done? I know how to change the background of the email into over 16 million colors, but what about the text in the SUBJECT line?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I opened my text, the fonts were colored red and there was a strikethrough on every line. I was able to see how it could be done in the fonts section, but I don't remember doing it. I need to know how to undo it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Vista Business with all current updates on a laptop. On a server (NAS, Samba V3.0.26a), are the application files in the standard operation. To work with the files works always smoothly. In the notebook, I have some files declared as offline files and thesynchronization works smoothly. At the offline files is a yellow circle with green arrows. In the Control Panel / Offline Files / Disk use corresponds to thememory used by the offline files correct. When I use the notebook separate from the network, the offline files displayed colored. Up to here everything is still okay! If I try to open an offline file it is not to open or at favorites the Internet link is not available  If you look at the properties it shows the following: size: 323MB size on Disk: 20KB  Why are files missing? What is in the offline files defect?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with my desktop and web browser fonts. See how the letters are misshapen, most noticeably the 6. My desktop fonts are also too bold when I boot up, which I can fix by changing the theme (every time I boot up) this fixes all the windows fonts but web browsing stays in this annoying misshapen style which makes reading hard with certain fonts and sizes and colored backrounds online.

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

I have heard that Vista and Windows Mail do not have email limits. I am using the same incoming and outgoing mail servers that I was using with Outlook without any problems. I would appreciate any help. I am not very computer savvy.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 13Gb image backup which I would like to copy to DVD. Is there a utility which will split this file (and recombine it) into DVD size chunks which I can then copy to disk? Or a DVD burning utility which will do this automatically?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use Acronis True Image to create an image of my C: partition. If the backup is important, I then burn this image file to a DVD. Unfortunately, the image file is now too large to fit on a single DVD. Does Windows Vista have a way to split files that could be burned to separate DVDs and later re-assembled if needed? I checked my Nero manual and it does not seem to offer the capability to span multiple CD/DVDs.
View 8 Replies View RelatedDesktop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 3MB RAM, dual HDs-RAID 1. Laptop with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 4MB RAM. dual HDs, no RAID. LAN is based on Dlink DIR-655 giga-switch and draft-N wireless router. Both PCs have giga NICs. I treat the desktop as "Home Base." When I travel, I copy (manual drag-and-drop) my personal data to the laptop across the network. If I make changes while on the road, I copy teh data back to the desktop. I keep my personal data lots of folders in the Public Folder on each PC.
No problems until now, I have much more data on the desktop. One folder is 66GB. Within that folder I have sub folders of 16GB and 28GB. 65GB folder will not copy to the laptop. Copy message says "calculating" then disappears and nothing has been copied. I cannot copy the 16GB folder to another folder on the same HD. Why not? Is there an upper limit on size of folders/files that can be copied?
I tried the backup & end up with 52 or 31 GB file to store, which is too large for CD/DVD or partitions on my HD. As an OAP external drive is expensive. Is this backup only for Companies?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy windows folder takes 15.1GB of my 32GB on my C drive and the Winsxs folder inside it takes up 9.8GB, is that normal? My laptop has very few applications I installed and only one is over 1GB and its a bit torrent full of music(2.4GB) so does it really take such a massive supply of memory just to run it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the exact problem as another member. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on a 15 inch Toshiba laptop my first computer ever. I changed the DPI screen resolution to the largest print since it was orginally too small to see and now cannot access the bottom of that screen to make any changes to reset it back small again. This enlargement of the screen also occurs on many of the control panel screens and all websites I visit. Spent hours trying everything possible all kinds of ways to fix this and very frustrated. Tried to enter through Classic Control Panel and Ease of Use suggestion to change it but no luck. Will read up on that safe mode idea. My 20 something computer neighbor was also baffled and tried to reboot but was unable to do this either hoping to reset it all back to the factory settings.
View 0 Replies View RelatedAfter reinstalling Vista, I noticed that the taskbar icons were no longer displayed as large icons. I believe there used to be an option available to display large icons. I haven't been able to figure out how to make the icons and buttons on the taskbar larger.
FYI, I am running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2, with all Microsoft updates applied.
I have a folder with about 200 subfolders which are for my pictures and I would like all of them to open up in a large format. How is this done?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to back up a large program to several discs. In XP this was not a problem. It prompted you for the next disc. However in Vista (I have the Home Edition,) I'm told the disc is too small and to either "retry" or "cancel." I can't believe it doesn't do what XP did...I've already saved the program to a removable hard drive but I'd like to back it up to disc anyway. Am I missing something in the control panel? A setting of some kind? Or doest Vista just NOT do that?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came into the office this morning to find my computer (Toshiba Portege, M700) in a state that seemed to be hung up in the midst of a windows update reboot. So I waited for a while, and nothing happened. The last normal reboot seems to have taken place sometime prior to about 3am Central time Sunday morning, when a Windows update was done (so it seems from Event Viewer). After that time, there are a large number of DCOM errors - things like WSearch failing to start, etc. A half hour later, tired of waiting, I decided to hard reset. Once I did that, the machine has yet to come up to a running state outside of safe mode. Among the things (I didn't catalog each and every reboot, etc.) tried were reboots into normal mode with just about every non-essential piece of software disabled, uninstallation of Sophos antivirus and Adobe Acrobat Pro and other biggies, etc. Never did I get a "normal mode" reboot to work. I've also restored the system to several set points prior to the weekend, to no avail. I will post some event viewer text when I have the chance tomorrow, but I'm totally dead in the water. I'm posting this note just in case this happened to anyone else this weekend or at their last Windows Update.

I've found solutions for xp/2000 that involve enabling 48-bit LBA, but I haven't seen anything on Vista. I don't recall being prompted for the SATA drivers during the load (F6) but I can't promise anything because it's been awhile.
and also when deleting files recycle bin shows a black icon..
