View 8 Replies View RelatedI have saved about 3000 photos in my computer under a folder called photos. But since some weeks, my computer is changing the original look of my pictures to very ugly views. I meant sometimes when I open my photo folders, suddenly some pictures are getting discoloured automatically. Sometimes the pictures are cutting to two pieces automatically. If the picture's background is green, sometimes it is changing to red, yellow or some other colour. But after this happened, I cannot get them back to it's original view at all. I don't know what's happening here. Already I have lost lot of my important photos because of this, and I even haven't saved them somewhere else. I already have deleted them from my camera too. Since I bought this computer, I am getting lot of problems in this. I don't know if it is because of VISTA or any other Hardware problem on this computer.

After a few days, I got a call from him. In a disgruntled voice he explained to me how the system slowed down, he ran into various problems, locking up, etc. and at the end of the conversation he made this plea - "I WANT MY XP BACK!" Can I run restore doing the following:
1) Use system restore
or
2) Reinstall XP from his original CD
I have been using a different boot screen for awhile, with no issues. I updated to SP1 and everything seems to have went just fine. But it did, for some reason, change my boot screen back to the original. No big deal, I thought, I will just change it again. I did that, and it seemed to go fine until just now (a day later).
Now the boot screen once again is back to the factory boot screen, and I cannot get it to change to my custom. I can change the .mui file in the windows/system32/en-US folder (winload.exe.mui) with no problems. But when I restart, it is the factory boot screen.
Haven't tried VMware on my Vista 64, though I have tried microsoft's own offering using my Windows Vista 64 system as a host to a Windows XP 32 guest. I installed Crysis in to my virtualized Windows XP 32 system but when I insert the disc in to DVD drive Crysis tells me it needs an original disc not a back up, [ and that is the original disc ] so I can't figure out why it thinks it is a back-up.

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

Start-->Games = see games explorer onl, not list of games. When open Games Explorer see all 9 games. One click = see rating of game. Two click = see Saved Games Screen.
In Outlook Express the BCC field was listed at the top of each new email. In Windows Mail you have to click on the TO: let it open the window then type the BCC in the field. How can you get the BCC field to appear on the original window?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed "HDD Sentinel" just to check what it was like and compare it to "HDD Life" I then uninstalled it. (Sentinel slightly changed the original icon by putting green bars on the icon). After, I opened My Computer and the Hard Disk Icons were changed (see Capture.jpg). Does anyone know how to revert the changes to the original icon? The "OS (C: " was the only one that had a Windows Vista icon on an image of a hard disk and the rest were the same but without the icon (see os.jpg).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq Presario desktop running windows vista, home basic, 32 bit. Several weeks ago, the hard drive died. I replaced it with a 500GB Seagate Barracuda hdd. Here is my problem. Hopefully, I can get some ideas. I have tried unsuccessfully to re-install the os using the recovery disks. When I attempt it, one of two things will happen. It will boot as far as the green windows loading bar, then go to a dark screen with no curser, arrow, nothing. Or, it will get to the factory image restore screen, with two check boxes, one saying reformatting windows partition, the other saying re-installing original content. It does neither. Just freezes up. I created the recovery disks when I bought the computer about 2 years ago. Could the disks be bad? Or is it possible I may have other issues?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI receive a lot of emails throughout the day, I've set up a message rule for mails so they get auto forwarded to my secretary so she can respond to them. This is where the problem starts. The emails that get forwarded to my secretary only shows that they were sent from me, the original senders emails are nowhere on the email. So all of the emails that get auto-forwarded all end up saying they are from me and not from any of the original senders. So there is no point of her replying since it will end up back in my inbox. Is there a way to fix this? I need an option or a solution for WINDOWS MAIL to place the original sender in my forwarded emails. Is there a checkbox I neglected to click or is the problem not fixable?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been reading the posts on this site for some time and I am impressed with the depth of knowledge displayed by some of the experts. I hope that you will be able to help me with my problem. I am using a Dell 1720 Inspiron laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. In use for more then one year with no problems until now. A problem has arisen with the Index and Search feature which has defied my attempts to correct. I describe the problem as follows: For example, I wish to locate a file titled 'catalog.xls'. I enter the Start menu and in the Search box at bottom of menu, I write 'c'. The return should be a selection of files grouped as 'PROGRAMS', 'FILES' and 'FAVORITES&HISTORY'. The avorites and the Programs are there but not the Files. I am certain that the 'catalog.xls' file does exist and it is in the hard drive but my searcher (index) system is failing to locate it or any other files. In my attempts at correcting this, I went to CP>Index Options. States that zero files have been indexed. I then tried to rebuild the index and/or to restore original defaults.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Vista Basic and have been trying to use an OEM anytime-upgrade to Premium edition. I did the online check and found my PC was compatable. Every time I try to upgrade, everything goes well until the very end. At that point my PC goes into a reset loop. It resets, a blue screen states that netio.sys has some sort of problem (but is too quick for me to note any of it down - useful!), then I get the option of loading MS Vista or go back to the original version. IF I chose Vista the PC eventually resets and I start this little game again!
The only info I have managed to note down from the blue screen is: nsiproxy.sys or netio.sys and something about the memory dump (which I can't access - I have tried!) Stop 0x0000BE (some leters and numbers in brackets, this is up for seconds so can't note down!) I've tried to stop the PC resetting via the control panel. Once in the reset loop I can't do anything except Rollback to the original settings. If I try to go to safe mode I'm told I need to reset so as windows can complete the installation.
I have a PC i am trying to format and reinstall windows vista. Unfortunately my mate has lost his original recovery dvd I made him and has now got a corrupted/damaged recovery partition. After all the searching I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. I want to format the hard drive and start from fresh as he has major Virus problems. I tried searching old threads but couldnt find anything like what I needed, I hope I am not repaeting a thread already. If so please point me in right direction. If it helps its a Acer 6252 travelmate.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince I have moved from Outlook Express to VISTA Windows Mail whenever I try to past from the clipboard into an e-mail I am composing it automatically changes any foriegn language fonts characters to all English characters. I should not have to do this if Window Mail would retain the original fonts from the clipboard or other document program I am pasting from. How can I

I accidentally deleted the Mail icon from the Start Menu (Vista Ultimate x32) and a ballon came up with the steps to restore this which instantly disappeared. I run Office 2007 with Outlook as the default mail client. I did manage to create the shortcut for Outlook 2007 and drop it on the Start Menu and it works. However, on right click it does not give the three options (E-Mail Accounts; Data Files; Show Profiles) that was part of the standard options. I am able to access these options from the Control Panel (Mail) but would prefer to restore the Start Menu. I did re-install Office suite but it did not change. Is there a way to restore this back?

My question: can I simply install the 64 bit version over the current 32 bit? Can I just put the discs back into the machine and let Vista take it's course by ticking the 64 bit option when it appears on the load up screen?
Or, do I have to go through the entire process of re-formatting/wiping the drives and start from scratch? I am using the Ultimate version, and am not sure about these things.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a newer computer purchased in August 2008, HP Pavilion a6530F. It came with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (64bit)
Hard to find software to work on it, occassionally I can make something work by changing the compability mode or running as administrator. Had I known all this when I got the computer, I would not have bought it.
How much trouble (cost too) to have someone change from Vista 64 to Vista 32. I am guessing that entails new drivers etc. I am just a normal user, don't play games, only the granddaughter age 11 plays games like Nancy Drew. I have a 640GB hard drive which is way more than I ever needed. Was not aware of software issues like I can't use my Photo shop Sofware and other things I have.
