how I can print some e-mails without having to print a company logo that appears within the e-mail. I would also like to be able to dispense with the date at the bottom of the page that appears when the e-mail is printed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Vista Business computer which, when I try to print using the auto-duplex unit on my HP Business Inkjet 1000 printer prints the second page upside down, whether I check the Flip Pages Up box or leave it unchecked. I do not have this problem on my Vista Home computer which uses the auto-duplex unit correctly. For some reason it looks as if the printer drivers on the two computers are different as the screens to set the properties are radically different. have posted some screen dumps from the two computers at to show the differences. Is there any way I can change the printer driver files, (or whatever files are causing the problem), on my Business computer to be the same as on my Home computer so that I can print all of my documents from the computer I use the most?

I've had Geek Squad out here to make sure I have the correct printer driver for Vista installed but it's still giving me the same problem.

Under XP it brings up the user id and password which lets me in..Vista on the other hand alos brings up the login dialog but just never gets authenticated. I suspect it's Vista given XP and IE7 works...anyone any thoughts? I've removed all firewalls etc to see what happens without them but to no avail...

I have some old hardware with an RS232 (9 pin) connection to my notebook. I have downloaded a driver for the Serial to USB converter, and my Vista Enterprise OS seems happy with it. However, the hardware only allows communication with COM ports 1 to 4, and as far as I can judge my USB ports are 8, 9 and 10. Can I renumber these ports to make communication possible, or is there another way of doing this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Vista on my comps(2). I installed the first comp sans the Validation number and ran it for two days to confirm all was OK. I then validated it and decided to install to the second comp. I validated this setup (different number )and later found that I was getting probs. (eventually tracked it down to the battery in the wireless mouse being low on power). I reinstalled Vista perfectly then validated, ollowed by all the updates. ( I now have Windows.old using up disk space and am somewhat doubtful about removing it ).
I have Googled the following: How do I check my Vista validation? All I get is how to cheat the WGA with some crack! So, can some kind person tell me how to check on the comp where I look for the Validation number.
just for future reference. I got the 'Windows - No Disk' dialog with hex numbers yesterday. It happened with CodeBlocks whenever I would open a project. I cleared my 'recent items' list and that fixed it. There was a file in the list that was on a memory card. The memory card was removed. I guess that was the problem... weirdness

(some sort of error message about C:/users/username/appdata/local/temp/low/ and some files therein.) From there I have been to a few other sites and moved on to fully customizing my desktop/login and??well?this is where I stuffed up?My BOOT screen no longer works properly, even with the original ?winload.exe.mui? file replaced.
I downloaded and used ?Vista Boot Logo Generator? I loved the results on my last install?It worked well. Upon deciding to do a fresh install with Tweaking in mind, I simply coppied over a Boot logo I made previously after allowing permissions and all that as well as changing the NO GUI in msconfig?ect?.BUT
The problem is as follows:??..The original auora background comes up?...and without the Windows is Loading Text???......I mean wtf?I just moved and replaced the original file and I get this on reboot. I have tried making more logos but everytime I restart the same thing. I have disable and re-enabled the boot gui option in msconfig?even putting back the original file does not get it working properly as the loading text is gone from that pic???

Windows Vista 64 When I press the Windows Logo Key nothing happens. Well, something happens, a small box above the task bar notifications comes up that indicates "Key Disabled". I've tried just about everything I can think of: Searched Microsoft. I'm absolutly flabberghasted and down right disgusted with Microsoft. Not only for their idiotic implementation of such stupidity, but the total lack of documentation on the subject. I kindly request your knowledge and technical assistance on this matter.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a GW M6307 2gigs ram with VHP 32 bit. Over the last several days on start-up the computer will show the GW screen for about 150 sec. then boot normally. I did do a Java update just before this started and have since uninstalled and reinstalled Java with no problem. I ran malware bytes(no issues) SFC ( 2 files repaired from log) and CHK disc. After shutting down for 10min. and a start-up the GW logo was normal(6 sec) with swift boot. This lasted 2 days. I ran SFC again and that appeared to fix the issue again for 2 days.
There appears to be nothing wrong anywere,in fact the box works great. All my drivers and bios are up to date.
It's more of a PIA then a problem....What would be the possible causes for the box to hang on the GW logo for so long??
I'm sure some of the things that go wrong are due to the fact that my finger will sometimes twitch and depress the mouse button where it shouldn't put something into play on the bad side, but even so, I'd like to know how to fix the problems no matter thie origins. (I'm much better on that since I found the Steadymouse program.)
Not sure what you call the panels that ariced when you push the logo key between the left Ctrl & Alt, but things have disappeared over the past several months. The first I noticed was that the DOCUMENTS sign no longer took me to my documents folder, as it used to do. The other things have been happening (or not happening) in the past few weeks. I don't recall everything that used to be on the right side panel, but here's what's left:........
I've checked and General is "normal" and boot is not ticked.I get about 15 secs of blackness, 5 secs of progress bar at the bottom,another 10 secs of blackness and then Vista.If I tick no gui in boot, I get "aurora" for the whole duration with no progress bar.
I am unsure what has caused my problem, so I was hoping someone may be able
to shed some light on it for me. I am running, Vista Business 32bit. Everything had been working fine, but without any changes to hardware, software or drivers I now have resolution problems. Firstly, when I boot my pc up it all goes well until just after the ???Windows Vista??? logo at the bottom of the screen comes up (during boot) the monitor goes into standby mode. Now the only way I have found to get my monitor out of this is to unplug the DVI cable from the back of my tower and plug in back in. The monitor then runs as normal ??? SO THATS ONE PROBLEM. Secondly, when the above problem first happened (and this is still happening) my resolution is stuffed. My monitor can go up to 1680x1050 and my Video Card can easily handle this. (Which it had been doing). But now I can only achieve 1024 x 768.
I followed VistaRookie's 10 step procedure for making a signature with a logo. It worked. Then I added more information and now it doesn't work. My email shows the code stuff instead of just the info and logo. I don't know what I did wrong. I deleted the first try and made the new HTM file using the same steps.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a dell xps 630i thats running windows vista. on friday, around 230 eastern time, my computer crashed. when i went to turn it back on tho, i saw something different with the dell writing, and the intel logo on the bottom right corner. they both were covered with dots eveywhere. After that screen passes by, i got a different new screen that i never got before. it was a phoenix awardbios screen. and below that it said, floppy disk(s) fail (40).
never seen that before. when i try to start my computer up, i can either go to start up repair or start normally. when i do the start up repair( ive done it 9 times already) it says my computer cant fix the problem, and then i can either send or not the error report. and when i start it up normally, it goes to a blank screen. and then my computer goes into power save mode. anyone know whats up with it and how i can fix it.
When you open up a window (my computer)...you will notice the 'aero' logo in the bottom right corner of the window. How can that be removed or replaced...?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe first time vista launched I noticed that the sound at the opening logo screen was just a long hard screeching sound. Then when I started clicking around and installing my programs in the desktop environment I noticed that all the sounds had been replaced by horrific screeching sounds. After installing the Windows updates (hoping this might solve the sound problem) and my video drivers I restarted my pc. At the startup I still had the screeching sounds but now I also had white garbled lines on my desktop. When I started moving around my mouse cursor the screen started to get stuck at some places and white squares started showing up everywhere. Then finally, to end it all my pc just jumped to standby mode and all I could do is reset the pc with the powerbutton. When restarting the problem starts allover again. When starting up in save mode the white garble and squares don't show up, but the sound stays screechy.

I am a moderately versed computer person, but can usually follow any well given directive. Now I am stuck with a problem after spending several hours on this issue. Every time I start a new message. I have "source, edit, view" tabs at the bottom of my email. Please help me undo this. I am shocked that the makers of Window Mail/Vista would not have addresed this issue before releasing....horribly missing my windows xp.......
