May 18, 2008When you open up a window (my computer)...you will notice the 'aero' logo in the bottom right corner of the window. How can that be removed or replaced...?

Remove Sync Center Logo From Offline Files
Feb 20, 2007Microsoft has spent a lot of work on updating Offline Files in Windows Vista with the new Sync Center. For those of you that do not know or use Offline Files, they are simply a local replica of a file that is on a network share. These replicas allow you to work on files you have set to be available offline even if you are not connected to say your corporate network or home server. You can manage all of the offline file settings in one place, the Sync Center.
The only problem I have with the new offline files is the massive green icon that is appended on top of any file that is setup to sync as an offline file. This provides a nice visual clue but often blocks a big portion or almost the entire icon depending on your explorer view. This is unnecessary and since you can manage your offline file from the new Sync Center, it is no longer really needed to find out what files are setup to be synced.
Follow these steps to disable the offline files logo from appearing on your files:
Click on the Start Menu, key in regedit and hit Enter........

Mar 23, 2008I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.

Jul 29, 2009I am using Vista Home Premium, so I do not have the CompletePC Backup feature, sadly. I just finished reinstalling VISTA and a ton of programs, only to realize stupidly that I am running out of hard disk space because of all the downloading I am doing. It would be pure hell to have to reinstall everything again.
I want to replace my hard drive with one with double the capacity. Can I copy / backup / whatever the entire c drive on to an external drive, then copy the entire contents back on to the new disk drive? Apparently, I have to purchase a product such as Acronis True Image Family.

This is the best install I have ever done (or was)?I did a fresh install and followed a tweak guide at 'NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks Guide - Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion' which was to very enlightening, to say the least. From there I have been to a few other sites and moved on to fully customizing my desktop/login and??well?this is where I stuffed up?My BOOT screen no longer works properly, even with the original ?winload.exe.mui? file replaced.
I downloaded and used ?Vista Boot Logo Generator? I loved the results on my last install?It worked well. Upon deciding to do a fresh install with Tweaking in mind, I simply coppied over a Boot logo I made previously after allowing permissions and all that as well as changing the NO GUI in msconfig?ect?.BUT
The problem is as follows:??..The original auora background comes up?...and without the Windows is Loading Text???......I mean wtf?I just moved and replaced the original file and I get this on reboot. I have tried making more logos but everytime I restart the same thing. I have disable and re-enabled the boot gui option in msconfig?even putting back the original file does not get it working properly as the loading text is gone from that pic???

Aug 23, 2009I use an ancient program to replace Windows native notepad. It is called 'Notpad'. Imagine typing that into a search, you get a suggestion that you meant 'Notepad' and no relevant info.The program is discontinued. However, it worked fine in Viats x64.
Until a few days ago. I cannot execute the program. It shows up in task manager. Clicking .txt files does nothimg. When I delete the notpad.exe and replace it with the original from zip, nothing.

Well, something happens, a small box above the task bar notifications comes up that indicates "Key Disabled". I've tried just about everything I can think of: Searched Microsoft. Start-up Screen Logo For Long
Jul 6, 2009I have a GW M6307 2gigs ram with VHP 32 bit. Over the last several days on start-up the computer will show the GW screen for about 150 sec. then boot normally. I did do a Java update just before this started and have since uninstalled and reinstalled Java with no problem. I ran malware bytes(no issues) SFC ( 2 files repaired from log) and CHK disc. After shutting down for 10min. and a start-up the GW logo was normal(6 sec) with swift boot. This lasted 2 days. I ran SFC again and that appeared to fix the issue again for 2 days.
There appears to be nothing wrong anywere,in fact the box works great. All my drivers and bios are up to date.
It's more of a PIA then a problem....What would be the possible causes for the box to hang on the GW logo for so long??
Logo Key Between The Left Ctrl & Alt, But Disappeared
Apr 27, 2008I'm sure some of the things that go wrong are due to the fact that my finger will sometimes twitch and depress the mouse button where it shouldn't put something into play on the bad side, but even so, I'd like to know how to fix the problems no matter thie origins. (I'm much better on that since I found the Steadymouse program.)
Not sure what you call the panels that ariced when you push the logo key between the left Ctrl & Alt, but things have disappeared over the past several months. The first I noticed was that the DOCUMENTS sign no longer took me to my documents folder, as it used to do. The other things have been happening (or not happening) in the past few weeks. Mar 23, 2008I am unsure what has caused my problem, so I was hoping someone may be able
to shed some light on it for me. I am running, Vista Business 32bit. Everything had been working fine, but without any changes to hardware, software or drivers I now have resolution problems. Firstly, when I boot my pc up it all goes well until just after the ???Windows Vista??? logo at the bottom of the screen comes up (during boot) the monitor goes into standby mode. Now the only way I have found to get my monitor out of this is to unplug the DVI cable from the back of my tower and plug in back in. The monitor then runs as normal ??? SO THATS ONE PROBLEM. Secondly, when the above problem first happened (and this is still happening) my resolution is stuffed. My monitor can go up to 1680x1050 and my Video Card can easily handle this. (Which it had been doing). But now I can only achieve 1024 x 768.
Work Making Signature With Logo?
Oct 16, 2009I followed VistaRookie's 10 step procedure for making a signature with a logo. It worked. Then I added more information and now it doesn't work. My email shows the code stuff instead of just the info and logo. I don't know what I did wrong. I deleted the first try and made the new HTM file using the same steps.
