Is this an actual microsoft product? I keep getting this message on the computer saying I need to downloan Antivirus 2008 and that it has found many viruses on my PC. When I looked up the file location it comes up in C:usersAppDataRoamongMicrosoftWindowsStart Menu It is causing problems on the PC and looks like it just was created a few days ago. I can't get into e-mail because it says there is a threat and won't let me continue. I tried to delete the file but I couln't find it when I went into my computer. There was no App Data file that I could see. I have Norton antivirus installed and I ran a scan on the file but got nothing. I want to get rid of this but don't knwo how.

A few days ago, the Antivirus 2008 pop-up appeared on my friend's new computer. It stated that he had 41 infections. HIs access to the internet was blocked, as well. In order to remove them, he had to pay for the service. After a bit of research, I discovered that it was a scam and attempted to remove it from his computer, via standard means (control panel, programs and features, uninstall). It appeared that some files were removed, but some were left behind. Those that remained still indicated that he had 41 infections and blocked his access to the internet, by indicating that the websites posed a threat........

I desperately require assistance. Ok, so it's not 'desperately', perhaps frustratedly (is that a word) is better. Windows Vista 64 When I press the Windows Logo Key nothing happens. Well, something happens, a small box above the task bar notifications comes up that indicates "Key Disabled". I've tried just about everything I can think of: Searched Microsoft. I'm absolutly flabberghasted and down right disgusted with Microsoft. Not only for their idiotic implementation of such stupidity, but the total lack of documentation on the subject. I kindly request your knowledge and technical assistance on this matter.

I was watching a programme online and noticed my other open windows seemed to have frozen (the cursor was doing the busy rotating "o" symbol and when I attempted to bring up the other windows nothing happened). Ultimately even the window I had open froze so I tried CTRL-ALT-DELETE to open Task Manager. Nothing happened. I turned off my laptop and turned it back on. I selected "Start Windows Normally" and got as far as the Microsoft Corporation page with the loading bar...but the Windows logo never appeared. After about 10 mins I freaked out and turned off my laptop again. Tried turning it on again, was given the option of Startup Repair. Chose this option, but still ended up at the Microsoft Corporation page with a futile loading bar as if nothing had happened. Any ideas what's wrong? Have tried selecting Vista as operating system from Setup Menu, but still nada.

I've been running Vista for a few months now without much complaint until recently. After booting, the green loading bar is followed by the windows logo before the screen flickers several dark colors and then produces a black screen with a movable cursor. The hard drive light remains unlit after the black screen. Running in safe mode gives the same result. I do not have a repair disk and I would rather not wipe the hard drive with a factory default disk as I have important data on my hard disk.

My computer is encountering a black screen with a movable cursor after the windows logo on start up and I have no idea what is causing this. When I start from safe mode (safe mode, safe mode with cmd prompt) it does the same thing. One thing that I've noticed is that when I run it in safe mode it stops at crcdisk and continues on to the black screen.

I note that my Windows Vista Home Basic is equipped with a real-time malware protection provided by Windows Defender. Will there be any adverse effect on my home PC if an additional real-time anti-spyware is installed as double protection? I understand that such addition is not recommended for an anti-virus tool.

My new Dell XPS 1330 with Windows Vista Ultimate was purchased with TrendMicro antivirus installed. All worked reasonably well until automatic updates installed for TrendMicro and I installed Windows Service Pack 1. Windows Mail stopped working shortly after with error message 0x800CCC15 after send /receive is pressed. Also, after trying again, sometimes error message 0x800CCC19 comes up. This is not a problem with my POP server as I can send and receive on my other computer running XP.
The Vista computer was restored to prior to the updates but the problem persisted. Dell support finally disabled TrendMicro and called this a fix, and suggested that I buy Norton antivirus. Maybe I should, but I've already bought a 3 year subscription to TrendMicro as recommended by Dell in their sales website, so I'm reluctant to do that. Also, it worked before so I think it may be a Windows problem.

We were running Trend Micro as our antivirus, but when it expired I was told that Avira was a good one. I downloaded the free version and installed it on my computer. The first scan it did find a trojan virus, but said it was very minor and was just something that got info on our household. I quarantined the file. I then went in and uninstalled Trend Micro since I wouldn't need it anymore.
Whe I restarted my computer my Windows Mail would no longer work. I have multiple email accounts set up with it. It says connecting, receiving mail (45 messages) and then I get this error message: An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.gaeagraphics.com', Server: 'mail.gaeagraphics.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005 Then it goes on to do the same for my other mail account. An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop3.cecomet.net', Server: 'pop3.fairpoint.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005
I contacted my isp first to find out if there was a problem and after walking me through some things said that it was an issue with windows mail. So I uninstalled Avira. No change to windows mail. I did a system restore back to a week ago. No change to windows mail. It continues to give me the error message everytime I hit send & receive. Except .. tonight it let 1 message through, none of the rest, though

Need To Fix Boot Logo OS?Vista Home Premium/service pack 1. This is the best install I have ever done (or was)?I did a fresh install and followed a tweak guide at 'NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks Guide - Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion' which was to very enlightening, to say the least. From there I have been to a few other sites and moved on to fully customizing my desktop/login and??well?this is where I stuffed up?My BOOT screen no longer works properly, even with the original ?winload.exe.mui? file replaced.
I downloaded and used ?Vista Boot Logo Generator? I loved the results on my last install? It worked well. Upon deciding to do a fresh install with Tweaking in mind, I simply coppied over a Boot logo I made previously after allowing permissions and all that as well as changing the NO GUI in msconfig?ect?.BUT
The problem is as follows:??..The original auora background comes up?...and without the Windows is Loading Text???......I mean wtf?I just moved and replaced the original file and I get this on reboot. I have tried making more logos but everytime I restart the same thing. I have disable and re-enabled the boot gui option in msconfig?even putting back the original file does not get it working properly as the loading text is gone from that pic???

I have a GW M6307 2gigs ram with VHP 32 bit. Over the last several days on start-up the computer will show the GW screen for about 150 sec. then boot normally. I did do a Java update just before this started and have since uninstalled and reinstalled Java with no problem. I ran malware bytes(no issues) SFC ( 2 files repaired from log) and CHK disc. After shutting down for 10min. and a start-up the GW logo was normal(6 sec) with swift boot. This lasted 2 days. I ran SFC again and that appeared to fix the issue again for 2 days.
There appears to be nothing wrong anywere,in fact the box works great. All my drivers and bios are up to date.
It's more of a PIA then a problem....What would be the possible causes for the box to hang on the GW logo for so long??

I'm sure some of the things that go wrong are due to the fact that my finger will sometimes twitch and depress the mouse button where it shouldn't put something into play on the bad side, but even so, I'd like to know how to fix the problems no matter thie origins. (I'm much better on that since I found the Steadymouse program.)
Not sure what you call the panels that ariced when you push the logo key between the left Ctrl & Alt, but things have disappeared over the past several months. The first I noticed was that the DOCUMENTS sign no longer took me to my documents folder, as it used to do. The other things have been happening (or not happening) in the past few weeks. I don't recall everything that used to be on the right side panel, but here's what's left:........

I am unsure what has caused my problem, so I was hoping someone may be able
to shed some light on it for me. I am running, Vista Business 32bit. Everything had been working fine, but without any changes to hardware, software or drivers I now have resolution problems. Firstly, when I boot my pc up it all goes well until just after the ???Windows Vista??? logo at the bottom of the screen comes up (during boot) the monitor goes into standby mode. Now the only way I have found to get my monitor out of this is to unplug the DVI cable from the back of my tower and plug in back in. The monitor then runs as normal ??? SO THATS ONE PROBLEM. Secondly, when the above problem first happened (and this is still happening) my resolution is stuffed. My monitor can go up to 1680x1050 and my Video Card can easily handle this. (Which it had been doing). But now I can only achieve 1024 x 768.

I followed VistaRookie's 10 step procedure for making a signature with a logo. It worked. Then I added more information and now it doesn't work. My email shows the code stuff instead of just the info and logo. I don't know what I did wrong. I deleted the first try and made the new HTM file using the same steps.
