Just had this in my RSS Feed, thought it would be interesting. Announcing the Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 RC - Windows Vista Team Blog - The Windows Blog Quote: This week we are announcing that Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 has hit an important milestone in development: Release Candidate (RC).

Starting today, the RC of SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will be available to TechNet and MSDN subscribers to test prior to final release. In the very near future, we will be making the RC broadly available for anyone to download and test. You can expect another blog post from me when that happens. SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 include updates that have been delivered since the release of SP1, as well as support for new types of hardware and emerging standards. As we’ve described since we first talked about SP2, we’ve taken your feedback into account when developing SP2. Specifically, we expect SP2 to continue the security benefits of both products and simplify deployment for our customers. SP2 RC For And Server 2008 Goes Public

Mar 4, 2009

Microsoft today released the Release Candidate build of Service Pack 2 (6002.16670.090130) for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 to the public. You can grab the standalone installer package from the Microsoft Download Center for 32-bit five languages and 32-bit all languages, 64-bit five languages and 64-bit all languages, as well as Itanium five languages and Itanium all languages. If you have Vista in English, French, German, Japanese, or Spanish, download the five languages package, otherwise get the larger "all language" version. There is also a five language and an all language.iso image available, as well as a patch that will allow you to get it via Windows Update. While this is a public release, it is still a Release Candidate, and Microsoft is recommending that the average customer "wait until the final release prior to installing this service pack" and reminding testers that "a Service Pack is not a feature release—we are not looking for new feature suggestions, only SP2 regressions, crashes, and confirmation of fixes we've made will be considered for this milestone." Windows Mail: Server Has Not Responded

Aug 2, 2009

Not sure why but I get (often) very bad performance using NNTP with Windows Mail (Windows Business) Often I will click on a group or message and wait and wait. After I while I get the msg that the server has not responded and I can stop or wait. This happens almost every time I use Usenet. It is not isolated to the Microsoft group as I also get Usenet posts through external-September.

I have used Usenet for 15 years and never had this problem till recently. People who use the same ISP as me don't have this problem. On occasion I can use it just fine so it is not a (personal) firewall issue.

Install Windows 2003 Server On Computer

Dec 16, 2009

I have a laptop running Vista ultimate. I want to create a dual boot with win2003 server so that I can install MOSS 2007 on it (studying for certification). Tried using the disk management utility in Vista to create partition for this and it doesn't let me shrink a partition in order to create a new partition for Win 2003. There are 60gb available for this new partition but when I go to 'shrink' I get a zero for available mb. I know there are some issues regarding the loader. Any advice in how to do this successfully? I dont want to lose any data on the vista O/S part of the box.

Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Access A Server

Mar 5, 2010

Where I live, the only newsgroup which I can access is on Microsoft's server; no other newsgroups are offered thru any ISPs (because of POLITIKAL considerations). I know that Google offers browser-based newsgroup review and posting, but its interface is far from the convenience of a traditional newsreader such as Windows Mail, Outlook Express etc. Does anyone know of a way to get around this and access a server by a something like Windows Mail?

Windows Mail Won't Download Load Message Server

Mar 23, 2008

Again. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:

a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out
b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007

I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?

How To Connect Windows Mail To Exchange Server In Network

Apr 18, 2008

How do I connect my Vista Windows mail client to a mailbox on my SBS 2003 server? Exchange used to be an account type in Outlook Express, but appears not to be in Win Mail. But the Exchange server provides a POP3 mailbox to clients, I have an extra available, it would be nice if I could use it. The only reason that I would like to is because the Brother scanner application brings up Win Mail when it scans to email, even though I have set Outlook to be the default program for the .msg file type. If you know how to disable Win Mail, and let Outlook take the call, that
would work as well as connecting it to Exchange.
