My Windows Mail was activated through my previous web host in Portugal, but I changed to a new web host on 1st June and I no longer have access to Windows Mail. I would like to still use it. I am using cvtelecom.cv in Cape Verde. I have an alternate mail system with the new host but would prefer to use Windows Mail. What info do I need and from whom? I wish to reactivate the account and email address I was using up.
Where I live, the only newsgroup which I can access is on Microsoft's server; no other newsgroups are offered thru any ISPs (because of POLITIKAL considerations). I know that Google offers browser-based newsgroup review and posting, but its interface is far from the convenience of a traditional newsreader such as Windows Mail, Outlook Express etc. Does anyone know of a way to get around this and access a server by a something like Windows Mail?
Im not really much of a computer wizzkid so pardon me if im not making much sense. I went into tools>account>default mail account>servers tab> My problem started then. Stupidly i changed my password thinking that i would be able to set it to open up and ask me for one when i tried to access my mail. My reaon for this was so others wouldnt be able to see my mail as i constantly forget to lock my laptop when im away from it.
Anyway i clicked apply and close. then i pressed send/recieve to checkif i had any new mail come in. A popup appeared asking for my username and password so i inouted the password that i had just changed. This is not working for me. And i do not know the old password to change back.
Our Vista laptops (& my Xbox) access our basic Windows Home Server system through a Netgear router. It's all fine, but I want to (easily & quickly!) restrict & control when some laptops can access the internet while allowing free access to the server. (For instance, so children's internet access can be monitored but they can always get to photos & backups, etc. on the server.)
I'm trying to send an email to someone on craigslist. I'm being asked to set up email servers: Incomming email server type- POP3, IMAP, HTTP? Incomming email server? Outgoing email server name?
recently when i try to check my email on windows mail a windows security box pops up and asks me to verify my username and password for my mail server. after i put those in it pops up again and doesnt ever let me check the mail. I have deleted the mail account and redone it multiple times with no progress.
I have a question about setting up an account from other than my isp, ex: comcast. I am a volunteer at a christmas website and I need to set up an account. When I set it up the same as I did in outlook express I get the error message that my login has failed. However, I can access the account on webmai.
since upgrading tp Vista, Both windows Mail and Live mail do not always donnload messages from my pop 3 accounts. I have to open my accounts online and when I have opened the accounts both mail and live mail will then down load messages, This does not happen all of the time, so I know the account settings are correct. It is just annoying that I have to check online every day rather than just checking mail or live mail. This never happened with XP running Outlook Express. is this a problem with Vista, or my mail servers
I tried to post this earlier, but I don't see it. Sorry if this is a duplicate.I have an HP laptop with Vista as the OS. I use Windows Mail to access my aim.com email. I've used this for over a year. Suddenly, I am getting the following error. I can connect to the aim web mail, so my password, etc is valid and working. This seems to be an SSL error, but I have not changed my configuration of the servers in Windows Mail. Any ideas why this is suddenly occurring?
Error message: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.aim.com', Server: 'pop.aim.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I do not have Vista, or Windows Mail, or Hotmail, so I'm flying a bit blind here. I have an acquaintance who has Vista, but does all her emailing via Hotmail. Recently, she has had some problems with the Hotmail service, and she has asked me if it is possible for her to change to the mail program that comes with Vista. (Windows Mail?) The snag is, she would like to import the contents of of all her web-based Hotmail folders, (her email messages in other words), and her Hotmail contacts into whatever email program she changes to.
1. Would this be possible with Windows Mail, or does she need to write off all her Hotmail stuff and start again from scratch?
2. If it is not possible with Windows Mail, is it possible with any other email client, such as Thunderbird or similar?
Unable to get Windows Mail working. Error message reading;

Not sure why but I get (often) very bad performance using NNTP with Windows Mail (Windows Business) Often I will click on a group or message and wait and wait. After I while I get the msg that the server has not responded and I can stop or wait. This happens almost every time I use Usenet. It is not isolated to the Microsoft group as I also get Usenet posts through external-September.
I have used Usenet for 15 years and never had this problem till recently. People who use the same ISP as me don't have this problem. On occasion I can use it just fine so it is not a (personal) firewall issue.
Why can't the windows mail find the server? We have Earthlink and I keeping getting a message that it is trying to connect to "earthlink.net" and below that "Finding Host" . The Internet is up and working so why can't it connect? I have 8 messages that have been there for a week
I want to go back to using my old server but I am not sure how? I didn't even really meant to set this up. how I can reverse it so I get my mail back in my university account?

Being a fairly new Vista user from XP Pro, I'm having difficulty trying to change the dictionary in Windows Mail to English (Australian) or (UK). haven't found previous threads on this subject helpful as they are confusing. I would be grateful for assistance.

I have had a succesful connection for over a year. Suddenly I can't send. I get the following message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Subject 'Read: Help Yourself Wholefoods 5x2 proof for Apr.22', Account: 'mail.bigpond.com', Server: 'mail.bigpond.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
There does not appear to be any problem with my server. I can go online and send from my providers site. There is no long period of inactivity and no apparent network problems. I have not been able to send from home for 3 days now.
This problem started 3 days ago. I can recieve all emails, but can't send emails with attachments -pdf or pictures of any size, I can send plain/text emails. I have turned off firewall and stopped AV (avast). Have tried signing in authentication to outgoing mail server, have also tried changing from port 25 to 26. This is the error message with windows mail... Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Again. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:
a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007
I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?
How do I connect my Vista Windows mail client to a mailbox on my SBS 2003 server? Exchange used to be an account type in Outlook Express, but appears not to be in Win Mail. But the Exchange server provides a POP3 mailbox to clients, I have an extra available, it would be nice if I could use it. The only reason that I would like to is because the Brother scanner application brings up Win Mail when it scans to email, even though I have set Outlook to be the default program for the .msg file type. If you know how to disable Win Mail, and let Outlook take the call, that would work as well as connecting it to Exchange.
In windows mail suddenly I can't change the fonts color. It's always black. Also when I received a message where some word are in red or other color. Have a solution?
When I print an email (or anything) when in Windows Mail, my system instantly switches to another open application. It's as if I pressed "alt+tab" at the same time as selecting "print." I don't know how to stop this switching and stay inside Windows Mail. This only happens when I print from Windows Mail. Printing in Firefox or Word 2007 causes no such problem.
can't seem to send emails via Windows mail since I've changed service provider, below is the error message i receive: The connection to the server has failed.
