Updates Drivers Slowly Process - Uninstall / Deletion Most File Deleted
Sep 24, 2008
Am attempting to delete three old zip/unzip driver folders so I can install updated versions of the drivers, but every time I go to delete, a warning pops-up stating ...."nothing to do"......, then it slowly (crawls, actually) begins, stating..... "deleting from archive". The files are full, so there's obvious data that needs to be removed despite the warning that there's nothing to do. At the speed this thing is deleting, if at all, it will take days. My question is, why can't I do a conventional uninstall/deletion the way most files are deleted, and why is it requiring so much time? (FYI, once this process starts, the only way to stop it is to do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE- just canceling doesn't do a thing), I have to remove thes drivers before installing the new versions. Is there another method of removing these files
I download a file and its on my desktop now. But the download was cancelled. Now even after removing the file from the download folder, it still says "Cannot Delete File: It is being used..." How do I get rid
I know you all seen this problem before but I've got to try. I have a Compaq, with a 60 gig hard drive, 384 of memory, 1195 Mhz processor and running windows XP. My computer runs like it was at the tops 300 Mhz. I've check for virus and spy ware, deleted unnecessary files, uninstall most of my games, defrag the c drive and defrag my registrey. I even changed my battery. And it still runs slow. Any suggestion on what I can do? I'm about reading to throw it. Also it is constantly freezing up on me. Man I thought XP wasn't to do that. It's worse the the millinum. my programs are constatly not responding.
Do I really need Java updates 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 installed on my computer? Is it not sufficient to have just the latest one and I can uninstall the rest? Also, if I already have SP3 for XP installed, can I uninstall all those "NET framework for SP 2" that are installed on my computer?
running Windows XP Pro with SP2...ran a cleaner to clear out all old traces of deleted programs, it also deleted all of the drivers needed to run the XP Pro and we can not even get onto the internet, where can we get the drivers needed without re-installing the windows XP Pro, and is there a place to get them for free.(the drivers)
I switched ISPs and the rep came to my home to help. He could not get a connection, so he installed some different lan cards until one worked. Since then, I installed a Wireless. Now, I have several drivers under networks in device manager that will not uninstall. Why? and how can I uninstall them like other devices there?
I clicked on the Icon for windows updates on my PC, and after the updates were done, my PC will not boot up.I keep getting one of those blue screens with one of those wonderful error messages.I have tried doing a system restore, several times, but it will not even let me do that
I run a specific batch file at startup that attempts to copy a file to lace one that is under control of a running program. I get the messageThe process cannot access the file because it is being used by anotherprocess."How do I successfully write the file? I know that the way you are supposed to do it is to close the program, make the transfer then restart the program. But how do you do that when you don't know the programand you don't know how it starts in the first place.
I am having a driver problem, which i find to be very weird. I cannot install, or uninstall a driver, nor can i disable on from device manager. When i try to do any of these I get either a "run DLL as an App has enountered a problem and needs to close" or if trying to do something from device manager, I get Microsoft Management Console has enountered a problem and needs to close. In the first case I believe the file was sysag.api in the second the file causing an error is mmc.exe.
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but if not please move or advise which it should be in and I will repost. I have acquired a Dell Dimension 8300 desktop which came with a clean install of XP Home, but I do not think that the drivers were updated. I tried to update the drivers from the Dell site, but found that a lot of the information regarding updating was either contradictory, confusing, or otherwise out of date, and gave up after attempting to install one.
Firstly, when it boots up, there is a message that the system battery voltage is low, and to press FK1 to continue. So I assume that it needs a new battery. After pressing FK1, it starts normally. When it does boot up, it is really slow at everything. Then while I am using it, without warning the screen goes dark (not blue) as if it had been turned off, but the fan is still running. There does not appear to be any output from the video port as the monitor brand name comes up as if it had been turned off.
I'm a producer and was about to master a production when the hole town I'm living in got out of electricity very good timing. I had saved the file I was working with a couple of times and just before the electricity disapeared BUT the file cant be found it is deleted (?)Is there a way to get old files back (maybe a previous state).I really need this file but I dont want my hole system take a previous state just get/find files. (I'm using Windows XP professional)
Using XP sp2, trying to clear out some useless files on an external drive, no matter how many files I deleted it didn't make much change in space recovered then I checked the size of Windows Live One backup file,50 gig,(wow) that's 60% of the total drive space, while trying to delete it,I get the message "cannot delete DO_NOT_DELETE.mediaID: access denied" Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that file is not currently in use.
I have been working on a batch file where in I want to perform few operations like install, configure and stop the process. I was able to start the processes. Now I am looking to end/stop/kill the process. I want to write a batch file for that in win xp. Has anyone worked on this by any chance? I would welcome suggestions at the earliest.
I have an empty folder on my desktop, and I can not delete it. Error deleting file or folder..Make sure you specify the correct path and name..My system is XP pro sp2 with NTFS formatted drive.Emptied recylcle bin, ran chkdsk (with restart) and still can not delete the folder.
I currently have XP SP3 V.3300 installed on my computer. My audio driver seems to be having problems with SP3 for some reason (*which I found from a bit of searching around on the internet). Consequently, I have been trying to uninstall it to re-install SP2, but I cant find the file to uninstall under add/remove.
I have a problem with Win XP not loading. It stops during the loading process. It does not matter if I try a normal boot, any of the safe mode boots or boot from a startup disk. I know what he problem and what the for the problem is, but I do not know how to accomplish the fix. The problem is caused by a corrupted driver file (agp440.sys). This is for video. If I do a normal boot it stops at tis file. The fix is to disable the file. But to do that I have to have Win loaded. I need a utility that will by pass the Win boot process and give me access to the files on the HDD so I can disable the agp440.sys file. I cannot find such a utility.
Some startup/recovery disks claim to not use Win to boot, but the one's I have tried stop installing at the same place Win XP stops, at the agp440.sys file. MS has a KB for the problem, but it requires being able to access the files on the HDD and disable the agp440.sys file. I could take the HDD out and connect it to another box to do the disabling, but I currently do not have another box. I an in a remote location without easy access to another computer. how I can make the repair without erasing the HDD, reformatting it and reinstalling everything?
i just emptied my recycle bin and got rid of something i wish i hadn't. is there anyway to get back something that i just deleted and emptied, without having to do a system restore?
I have an empty folder on my desktop that I delete a couple of times a day, but it keeps coming back. I delete it, empty recycle bin, and then after a while, it comes back. I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it to return. How can I delete this annoying file?
I have a problem with an .avi file, I think it may have a virus. It was downloaded from an unknow site. While kept in a folder (A) within 'My Documents' folder it greatly slowed any operations whenever I opened folder A to view its contents This .avi file will not delete and can't be moved, comes up with a message - "Cannot delete '.avi file': It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." This message comes up even when no programs are opened, its a stand alone home pc so no other users.
I accidently downloaded an image file with extension .JEPG. I could not open the image file so I deleted it. However, the file can not be dragged into the trash can, can not be X deleted, can not be right clicking-delet, can not be renamed, as well.Is this a spyware, or something? How else can I get ride of it, I am worried,
I have Windows XP Home installed on my computer as my OS. Recently, I've been cleaning out my computer by uninstalling programs that I haven't used for a while. However, the uninstallation of some programs fails. For example, I have a software called JapaneseNow! (to learn Japanese) installed on my computer. However, trying to uninstall it pops up the error message that "Uninst.isu" cannot be found and therefore the uninstallation cannot continue. I already cleared off a software called SpanishNow! beforehand, which may have caused Uninst.isu to be cleared....
I keep getting a message that says unable to uninstall when I am in add or remove program. It says "could not open instal.log file". I am totally confused. I recently had to do a system restore (lost my CD burner??) so I could get it back. That is working fine now, but now this problem.
Last week I posted a question to this forum regarding the trouble I was having uninstalling Explorer Beta 2 (you can't install Beta 3 until you UNINSTALL beta 2). I got some very good suggestions -- system restore, trying REinstalling beta 2, etc. but none of them worked. Beta 2 won't reinstall unless you uninstall, restoring back to earlier times resurrected other demons and glitches I had solved, etc. What I believed happened is part of my overzealous file maintenance. I usually delete all those windows update Uninstall files that clutter up the Windows directory. Who knew that one of them was probably the uninstall file for Explorer Beta 2?
Ok, using this help website, http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how...air_a_stop.htm I am at the harder method, but encountered some problems.md tmp(nothing really happened not sure if anything was supposed to) copy c:windowssystem32configsystem c:window mpsystem.bak (copied fine) copy c:windowssystem32config software c:windowmpsoftware.bak (it says the file can not be copied). Do I go on with the rest of the tutorial, or where exactly do I go from here? Is there any possibility that I will not have to reformat and get my old computer back?
How do I recover an accidentaly deleted file from the recycle bin? By mistake, my recycle bin was emptied/deleted of its contents and there was a file in there I needed.
