View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been playin a lot of online RPG lately, so I been working with maps and photos, drawings, etc.. I got PSP8,and while installing it I switched the file associations ALL on, so every graphics file becames a PSP8 file. Well its causing all sorts of problems, the web wont upload PSP8 format. OOoopss. Fine , right, I just remove the PSP8 assoc on files, such as Jpeg, gif, bmp, but now those files are listed as having no extension now!! So the web wont even recognize them know, ie they dont show up in the 'browse' list. How can I restore the file associations to the originals, on the jpeg, bmp, gifs ?

Luckily, few days before the crash, I backed up All information in this computer” using Windows system tools.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI know the standard file association procedure, and yes I searched this forum first. (and MS) which wasn't helpful, so here goes: once you open the context menu on a generic icon and browse the 'open with' list, you HAVE to make sure to uncheck the 'always open with' checkbox or your next association will be forever linked. you can change it, but only to a specified app. I want to switch the association back to generic. I don't want the file to be associated with anything. problem is, there is no 'restore' option on my newly associated icon (there should be). For example, if I switch the file association AGAIN, I will see restore button. But I can't restore to it's OG generic icon.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwith .exe file associations in win xp.Every time an exe file starts up (including any startup programmes) an error window pops up headed clone dvd registration, and informing me that this program cant open whatever application is trying to open.I have tried restoring the association, but when I change the exe to open with 'application'. it automatically changes back to clone dvd registration.I have tried all the suggestions on this page: http://filext.com/info/showthread.php?t=12 but Im still getting the same results.

View 14 Replies View Relatedwhy do people say that they have deleted a file from their computer but if someone has enough knowledge or certain forensic software they can still retrieve this file that was supposably deleted. If they can retrieve it then it is not deleted. and when the file is supposably deleted but still in your computer is there a difference in the space that it takes in hidden areas of your computer. I would imagine that they would be compressed or something else.

View 14 Replies View RelatedAm attempting to delete three old zip/unzip driver folders so I can install updated versions of the drivers, but every time I go to delete, a warning pops-up stating ...."nothing to do"......, then it slowly (crawls, actually) begins, stating..... "deleting from archive". The files are full, so there's obvious data that needs to be removed despite the warning that there's nothing to do. At the speed this thing is deleting, if at all, it will take days. My question is, why can't I do a conventional uninstall/deletion the way most files are deleted, and why is it requiring so much time? (FYI, once this process starts, the only way to stop it is to do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE- just canceling doesn't do a thing), I have to remove thes drivers before installing the new versions. Is there another method of removing these files

I had forgotten I had my external hard drive still plugged in and I accidently deleted the partition for it and created a new one. I didn't FORMAT it, but then when I started up my computer, all the files were gone. So does that mean my files are premanently deleted or can I save the files somehow?.
