How To Empty Folder Deleted Regularly IE Save Unwanted File?
Aug 24, 2005
I am still getting used to XP. In WIndows ME, there was a windows empory internet files folder and a windows emp folder that I deleted regularly because IE saved a bunch of unwanted files in there all the time. Where are these folders in XP? I have done a search for them and have found a few different ones but just arent sure which are what. Where should I look, or where can I find them?
First I booted from the Windows XP cd because I wanted to format the C drive. I had forgotten I had my external hard drive still plugged in and I accidently deleted the partition for it and created a new one. I didn't FORMAT it, but then when I started up my computer, all the files were gone. So does that mean my files are premanently deleted or can I save the files somehow?.
My computer has been running really well for the longest time. I've had no problems at all. Then just like 2 days ago my computer started running really slow. Whenever I open up a messenger it hangs and then freezes. I ran my spybot detector and there were a few things but I got rid of them. My virus scan was clear and I also ran my disk defragmenter. I'm not sure if I got a virus somehow. I deleted all my cookies and files.
Can I recover messages I accidentally deleted in Outlook Express of Windows 2000XP? These messages were in their own file but somehow got moved to a subfile of the Deleted Items folder. In trying to removed the Deleted Items folder the sub-folder went with it. There were a large number of messages I had received via e-mail that I intended to keep.
in my start menu My recent documents folder it always displays as empty Ive activated it following Start>Properties>Customize>Advanced> Checking the box under recent documents history...but files that open wont appear..
Also I went to the registry and did the following under and in the entry NoRecentDocs History put the value to 0 and it still would work. I don't think I have the Tweak UI program on my Machine, I did not see it in my control panel, still I removed a app. called Power Toys for win, having this still no effect on the situation
On one of my hard disks there is a folder that wont delete. When I try to delete it, it says: "Cannot delete FOLDERNAME: The directory is not empty." if I try and open the folder it says: "F:Folderfolder is not accessible. The file or dicectory is corrupted and unreadable." I have loads of stuff on the hard disk so I don't fancy reformatting it. No O/S is stored on it.
When I place the cursor on one of the folders in My Pictures it shows to be 90KB, but when I double click the folder appears to be empty. I get "no file selected"There are two other folders like it, all the rest are normal. What has happenned to my photos.
We lost electricity for about 2/10ths of a second. My son was on the computer when it happened. The computer shut off and came back on. When it resumed, we were unable to connect to the internet. The first thing I did was check the Network Connections folder. To my dismay. This happened several months ago, and I was not able to fix anything and ended up using my 9 HP recovery disks. All I could find on the net seemed to involve fixing connections that you could see in the folder. I did a restore to the day before. Nothing. I did a system restore which put all the crap back on my computer that I don't need but still did not get me anything in my connections folder. I used the network connection wizard which says my broadband is working fine but won't connect. I checked my network adapters which were all working fine (although always hidden, is that normal?) When I did the system restore, it removed several network adapters, but since I don't have anything in the connections folder to connect, it doesn't really matter at this point.
I think the ram on my laptop is overused because my laptop is running real slow. Is there a way to free up ram space,Secondly i have a folder on my desktop thats completely empty and it wont let me delete it. It says this folder is used by another user or program or something like that. How can i delete it?
what the prime uses for a logical drive (just assigning it as the letter F: for example ) might be vs. Mounting the logical drive as an empty folder that supports drive paths?
And why someone would want to use one option vs. the latter? (common uses)
My daughter downloaded a game ( Carmen San diego) awhile back. She decided she didn't want it anymore. She went into add/remove programs and removed it. The shortcut is still on the desktop and when she tries to delete it she gets a messages that it cannot be deleted because it is either write protected or in use with another program.
For the last 3 hours my machine keeps rebooting of its own accord. When it reboots sometimes there is nothing at allSometimes it gets to the XP splash screen but the little blue bars go further than they shouldIf it gets past that to the welcome screen some times the screen goes funny when i try to typen my password, or when i've typed it in and hit enter it goes funny then or reboots. When it reboots I get Overclocking Failed! Only on the odd occasion though.I've reset the default settings in BIOS but this does not have any effect. I have ran Everest Home to monitor the temperatures but they all seem fineCould it be a problem with my graphics card?Just a thought because of how the screen keeps going funny and not displaying properly Or could it be something else?
How can I add a personal folder to appear in "Places Bar" of all Save Dialogs (irrespective of the application) in Windows XP Professional SP3.The personal folder, added, in any Microsoft Office document's "My Places" bar, appears in Save Dialogs of only Microsoft Office documents. But I want a personal folder to appear in ALL Save Dialogs, irrespective of the application.

I have a problem with my pc. Can anybody help me? I normally save my all works and files in my documents folder in my windows xp OS. I have a username to log in to my pc.underthis user name I had made my documents private. One day to do some work I logged in to the PC as an administrator. Here I delete my user account and created with same name again. But now I have lost all my documents. I can see it's there in my documents and settings but access denied because of the folder made PRIVATE. Can you help me to get my documents back?
On XP Pro I used to have it set up so that when I opened or saved a file(regardless of the program being used) it would show the folder list on the left side of the open/save file window (like in Windows Explorer when you do a folder list in the left pane). Now, it only shows certain groupings like My Documents, My Computer, My Network, etc. in the left pane. How do I get folders back?
I wanted to clean up little bit a HKCU - run, and i started to back up every single value separately but after 2nd I didn't notice that the whole run folder was highlighted so I confirmed a deletion and Oops - now the folder is gone. (the dumb touch pad did it not me).Luckily most of the stuff still works, windows starts normaly, but I lost a volume control throug the keyboard (Sorry I didn't mention it before, it's a laptop intel P4 2Ghz, 2G ram, Xp sp2 pro.) and I am scared what will happen next if I try to install something that requires to put the value in this folder. I tried to create a run folder under the selected HKCU but it keeps placin' a new folder under windows update tree. Any idea how can I save my system from re-install? Is there a way to restore this, I tried system restore but it says there is nothing to restore. I checked the recycle bin and it's not there. Any sugestion is welcome.
I have windows XP home on an hp pavilion. My bin was extremely full--hence the accident. I hoped it would come back on reboot, and I tried system restore. I am using undelete, but I think the program converts the recycle bin to its own recovery folder. Hope to get a solution.
I am running into an issue when I do File Save As from Excel, Word, etc. The application hangs and I am forced to re-boot. Additionally, when I run Windows Explorer that hangs as well when 2x click on the C drive. Opening files is fine and saving(w/o save as) is fine.
I am running CW Shredder quite regularly and everytime I do run it it detects CWS.Msconfig and removes i. My problem is if this is aproblem I want to know how to get rid of it for good. I also run Ewido, spybot, adaware and windowsonw antivirus. Outside of a few cookies This is the only Problem.
I have is that there is something wrong with my Temp folder perhaps. i think it is probably deleted or renamed or something. I looked for it and i did find it but i am not sure what is wrong with it. When i try to run a new installation for example, the other i was trying to re-install windows movie maker, and an error message comes up. The error message is shown below. What should i do to get m Temp folder 'working' again?
