Anytime I try to access a picture or a music file from my external hd I get this error (I'm running XP). When in safe mode I do not get the error. Help would be greatly appreciated. I'll post a logfile from a hijackthis scan in a second.

When flagging a picture and clicking on 'Email This File', I used to be given the option to reduce the picture size for the email.This size-reduction option disappeared some months ago but I wasn't too bothered as my file sizes were quite small anyway. View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes I will highlight a range of photo files and open them into Picture and Fax viewer. I can then page through all the photos I selected. Occasionally though, I will load a range of photos into the viewer and photos from outside the range I selected get loaded into the viewer. When this has happened, I've gone back and reselected the range and tried it again and still get pictures loading from outside the range I wanted. Also, I notice on the viewer's print wizard that pictures/documents from outside my range of selected documents are sometimes presented for printing. Anyone know how that happens and how do you fix it?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... However if i right click and go to open then the file will open. The problem was caused by going Tools>folder options> file types.... file folder and folder have been changed on the advanced button..also AudioCD file has been changed.

It also won't delete, be moved, or you can't change its name. I've tried Safe Mode but that didnt help either. The name also seems to be taken up by spaces... actually at my work place i'm trying to download some hindi mp3 music files but somehow it not working. as I'm trying to right click on the song link and by selecting 'save target as' its openning the dailog box to save it but at this point it trying to save as HTML documents instead of mp3 format.if i try manuaaly to change file extension from html to mp3 than i can not play this file as it gives error about class-file of media player.I checked on Internet explorer tools internet option and security tab and verfied download file is enabled.

I did a chkdsk /r on the drive, and the file system is back. Ive also done a pass on the drive with a virus scanner and noticed a folder C:Program FilesCommon FilesServices" with the all of the files consisting of randomly generated executable names (514 in total), refer to attached text file for full list.
In explorer, the files show as green.
The problem is the virus scanner logs the file as "access denied".
The file initially had security permissions set to everyone with write only and the owner was some wierd clsid like object.
I have a Dell 4500 using Windows XP who's processor died. I removed the hard drive and attached it to my Dell 1150 via a IDE/USB adapter kit. It appears that everything is available. However, when I go to 'Documents and SettingsJustJeff206documents it states that it is not accessible and that Access is denied. Other files that are not under my directory can be accessed. I have run Chkdisk with no problems detected.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an HP Pavilion 540n that is riddled with viruses. HP doesn't ship with recovery discs. I was able to use the recovery tool but now when the machine boots I get the Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file error when trying to run anything. I can't boot to safe mode and have tried running fixmbr but it did not help. I tried running malwarebytes and combofix but I get the error above. I would wipe it and reload the OS but since HP doesn't ship with any CD's I don't have a disc to load.
