I keep my pictures in a CD-ROM. I transferred some of them to my hard drive and started editing them using PaintShop 9. When I tried to save them a message showed up saying:Quote Could not save file because it is marked Read only. Chane the "read only" attribute" using Windows Explorer. UnQuote How should I do that?

I have files in my recycle bin. My recycle bin shows nothing when I open the folder but there is 6 items in the folder. I have tried to delete them through C: ecycler but when I try that I get an error on the bottom of my screen that says The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

Everynow and then, I get the following message. "Cannot Copy File: Cannot Read From the Source File or Disk"

I cant deleted this file on my desktop. It is an empty file(0 bytes), I tried renaming it and tried deleting it in safe mode. still I get " Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk." I did a search for the file and nothing shows! not even the actual file that is on my desktop. So used "registry cleaner" to see if it will delete it...nope. I tried safe mode again and the same problem. I ran AVG, Norton, Escan, Hijack, all came clean. nothing wrong.

When flagging a picture and clicking on 'Email This File', I used to be given the option to reduce the picture size for the email.This size-reduction option disappeared some months ago but I wasn't too bothered as my file sizes were quite small anyway. However it's a real nuisance now that I take/file all photos at maximum resolution. View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes I will highlight a range of photo files and open them into Picture and Fax viewer. I can then page through all the photos I selected. Occasionally though, I will load a range of photos into the viewer and photos from outside the range I selected get loaded into the viewer. When this has happened, I've gone back and reselected the range and tried it again and still get pictures loading from outside the range I wanted. Also, I notice on the viewer's print wizard that pictures/documents from outside my range of selected documents are sometimes presented for printing. Anyone know how that happens and how do you fix it?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... View 21 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows XP, had to run a Windows repair. I am the owner / administrator of my pc. Since the repair, it seems I have lost ownership, permissions or attributes to my files. I will try to explain as best as I can. if I create a document and save it to an existing folder most of the time I can still access that <ocument. I have the same issue if scan a document, then save to a folder...I can usually still access but I never know, sometimes I can't. BUT, if I create a new folder and copy or move a document into the new folder I no longer have access to that file. Once the document has been moved into a folder I will get an error message saying Cannot access (filename). The document may be read-only or encrypted. I click on ok and a second message appears saying (filename) cannot be accessed. The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding, or read-only. I cannot figure out whats triggering it. Ive checked folder properties >sharing> some(but not all)of the folders have the make this folder private checked and I cannot change it. These seem to be the folders that are denying me access to my documents.

A number of files will copy prior to the error occurring. The error occurs when the copying process reaches a file that my Trend Micro security software had identified as a virus and had quarantined.
Instead of simply skipping the file that cannot be copied and moving to the next, Windows Explorer displays the error "Error copying file: cannot read from source or disk" and aborts the copying process, leaving the copying process only partially complete. Copying each folder or file individually to avoid encountering the error would be very time consuming.
I'm having a problem "finding" my music files after I moved some files around on the computer between users.My simple solution was to copy them to an external HD and the re-load them so I searched for all music files then selected all and attempted to copy them to the external HD, but I got an error message: "cannot copy file.cannot read from the source file or disk".

I have tried deleting it on boot (?) but those programs only delete files not folders.
I am trying to make changes to a picture and when I try to save it I am told it is a rad only file. I go to properties and uncheck read only and apply it to the folder and all sub folders and files. When I check properties again it is marked as read only again. How do I fix this?
