I'm trying to use iTunes with my new ipod mini, but the My Music folder on my computer wont grant me access to write anything to it, or alter anything in it and I'm not sure why? It asks me to check whether it has full or write-protection, but it shouldnt have seeing as I am the only user on my computer? anyone be of assistance? its bugging me greatly!

Remove the write-protection or use another disk." i dont know how to remove the write protection. i tried to move other files to the MP3, but all files give me the same message, even the ones that are already in the MP3 folder

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy write protection seems to be activated on all folders.The box where the check is supposed to be is blackened and when I click to remove it, it goes away.However when I try to remove the folder an error pops up and when I bring up the properties again it shows the box is blackened again.I don't seem to have a problem with files, it only seems to be the folders.

For each one I have set the username folder in Documents and Settings to allow network sharing including 'allow network users to change my files'. For all but one of the users this works fine and I can access and write files from another PC on the network. However in one case I can only read files and get the following message if I try to write: 'Cannot copy [filename]: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.' The settings appear to be the same for all users so I do not understand why I cannot write in this case. I've tried removing sharing then reapplying it, restarting PC, etc.

I cannot install new applications on my WinXP HE. I've tried 10 or more and all give me a similar problem: error during install. some say, that they do not have write access to "program files" dir, but that's nonsense, since the installer installs the directory and some files already.

View 11 Replies View RelatedUnfortunatly, a major thunderstorm passed thru my area and my computer was shut down hard and when I brought it up Windows was trashed, missing system files, some noise about disk-drive errors, etc. So I had to install Windows on another drive on the system. I can copy files from anywhere on the drive to the new windows drive except for "my documents" WEHRE OF COURSE Visual Studio Projects, Word documents, IPod, etc, everything, my important stuff is being kept being kept. The message I get is "Access is denied"
When I bring the system up in Safe Mode with networking and look at the security permission tab for that folder I see that my SID Is not there. When I try and add it (my user ID) it validates it and it looks like I can now have access to it, great, but when I click apply the response is "media is write protected" cannot apply permission changes. When I try and copy a file from my new windows drive to the original I get the message Drive is write protected
Try to defrag it from new windows - same message
Try to repair it from new windows - same message
Can anyone tell me where I could find this media write protect switch and where to change it. Windows XP, NTFS all drives, SCSI
i have three hard drives : 1 Hitachi 250 GB Sata 2 on Nvidia Controller 2 Samsung 80 GB Sata in RAID O on Silicon Controller 1. the problem is when i boot into windows the LAN connection (two small monitors in the taskbar) takes atleast 10 minutes to show !! and theother problem is that until tht two monitors dnt appear i dnt get any reply frm right clicking any of the drives to see their properties and frm My Computer too, but as soon as the two small monitors come all the properties just pop up.
2. Sometimes suddenly in between Windows shows Write Delayed Failed Error only on the Raid Drives and i cnt access them afterwards,restarting solves the problem tho but jst for sumtime.
I accidently deleted the my music folder in My docs. I belive its a system folder and was wondering how to get the same system "My music" folder back.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I decided to move my music library to my external harddrive since my internal drive was nearly full. I stupidly moved my "My Music" folder, which is labled Julie's Music, to my F drive. At first, iTunes operated fine after I moved my music files, but later it could not find the iTunes library and would not open. I tried moving "Julie's Music" back to My Documents on the C Drive. But iTunes still cannot find iTunes library because it cannot find the My Music folder, even though it is there. I also cannot rename my Julie's Music folder back to My Music. It seems to me moving the folder corrupted it and now I can't open iTunes since it can't locate its library.

Here is the problem...I went to my Music file to listen to some music and my folder was filled with numerous pics of albums and the title on them all started with Album Art. I deleted them and BAM they were back again as copies. As many as 26 each! Do I have a major probem here? Noone else uses the computer but myself and I have no idea where these ALBUM ARTs came from.

So, here’s the weird thing, I get up this morning and startup the computer and there is the County Music folder on the desktop in the exact place that I created it! MMM… I deleted it again and went to work. I get Home and there it is again! The thing is its empty, were as the original folder is full of music.

Lately when i try to open up My music from the startup menu it takes around 5 mins for it to open up, cpu usage goes thru the roof and almost locks up. View 2 Replies View RelatedIn winamp, all my songs that are in my music folder all have the same, incorrect album art unless they are in another subfolder with their own album art.I narrowed down the problem to the fact that when I put my documents folder into thumbnail view, the art appears on my music folder, rather than the default my music folder icon.I have looked everywhere in this folder for this image, which was originally on some music my brother was downloading and deleted a long time ago and cannot see a way of restoring it back to normal.

What i want to do is to make my Hard Disk Drive as my My Music folder: Whenever you click or go into My Music, it will act as a shortcut and head straight to the Hard Disk Drive. The reason for this is so I have a Hard Disk Drive full of music while my original HDD has all the other stuff. Also My Music is a special windows folder so I would like to keep that if possible when doing this.

I have been updating my winamp thumbnail database with all the associated album art. Every so often, I run into a little problem. When I add a new image to a band's folder and rename the image "folder.jpg" I get an error message stating that I "cannot rename the file because there is already another with the same title" or something along those lines. This typically happens with albums I have previously added album art through with my "Zune" (mp3 player).
