all my music file names have changed from black to blue in some albums , some are all blue , some are all black and some are a random mixture of the two.Can anyone tell me whats happened and how to fix this
Unit where I work are having issues with the NTuser.dat file name in the All Users, turning blue. Applications are then corrupted and PC slows down. with that other problems occur requiring the unit to be reimaged. Quick fix has been to delete the NTUser.dat and the user's profile. This does not always correct the problem. My questions are: What causes the file name to go from black to blue? What causes the applications to be slow or not to work or work properly?
my music folder changed to a picture and i installed tweakUI and repaired the folder icon, but the picture is still there. i also changed the folder options to see if the picture was a hidden file but there wasn't any hidden filed in the'my music' folder. i don't what else to do.
I can play music, but can't play music videos.I get this error message:Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. In the Open URL dialog, try opening the file using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").I am also having problems with UPDATING Windows Media- I get a message saying I am missing some components. I cant go into the Microsoft updates webpage either- I get a message saying ''page cannot be displayed''
When I am saving a file I often use a single letter for example X If i wish to continue using the X's for example XX or XXX etc etc I used to get a drop down box telling me when I had used that name. This has vanished. I now have to manually count the letters how can I get this drop down box back please.
Like I said in the title. In one of my folders, (and only that particular one), all file and folder names are missing. I don't know if it's a design feature or a bug, but I really want those names back. Can it be caused by malware?
i was changing through the included XP themes - only something went wrong when i swaped to the blue theme every thing has gone black apart from a few icons, i cant see any text from windows applications or anything etc so i can't change back, i don't know what is open or closed or anything.
I noticed today that the icons in some of my folders (not the desktop icons) look strange. The text where the file name is--some of them have blue text and others have the usual black text. What the heck is this, and what do I need to do to fix it?
When I try to rename a file I get a popup. It says (if you change a filename extension, the file may become unusable). How can I rename it without it becoming unusable?
Back in my MS-DOS days I could get the directory of a folder and direct it to a text file. Now I'd like to do that again, but I can't figure out to make it work in Windows Explorer (for XP, but I also have Vista on my notebook).Do I have to run a DOS window. Is the syntax the same? (Can I remember it?) Are there any shareware or freeware program managers that provide this function?
I've got a folder on my PC containing pictures. When I open it in Windows Explorer and use the Thumbnails view, the file names under the thumbnails are gone. In other folders they are visibile (even subfolders of the not working folder). When I choose any other view the filenames reappear just fine..In the 'Choose Details' window of the folder the 'Name' option is selected (it's not even possible to deselect it).
There was recently a power outage in my home in which my computer has a forced shutdown upon loss of power while already in Windows (at the normal desktop screen). When I got power again I found start up o be longer than usual, and when the XP load screen was done the computer immediatly went to a black screen instead of moving to the normal login screen. There was video and the monitor was on, so I know the video card was functioning among everything else
I believe Windows encountered a few problems upon the quick shutdown prior to the power outage. Pretty much I tried everything I knew to try, using F8 at windows selection screen, and going to startup through windows with the most recent functioning configuration- this yielded the same problem unfortunately. I finally started up with safe mode, quite a few drivers loaded, but all in all the processes halted at a specific driver ( dont think this has any specific significance) mud.sys.
I have had this problem for a couple of years now, even in a few different computers. I have a folder with files I am keeping, copying it from computer to computer when I change computers. In this folder I am unable to see folder/file names unless I mark them. This has irritated me to some extent since there are around 12-13000 files in this folder by now. I have asked around at computer-tech stores, and some of my more or less nerdy friends. One of wich is mostly always able to help me but not with this.
Awhile back I was organizing my picture files and accidentally pressed a few keys, which seems to have caused my file and folder names to disappear in that one folder. I can see them fine in list, icon, tile, or detail view, but in filmstrip or thumbnail view they have disappeared! I use WindowsXP. How can I unhide the file names?
I noticed recently that my system and other folder names have changed on their own! What the -h- happened? I have never seen anything like this before. These folders appear on all of my drives c:, d:, g: and they are random. It looks like they are of another language, maybe? Actually, the wording makes no sense at all...> It looks like most of these folders previously existed.
Things I have done: Ran Anti-V program + Ewido Suite = No viruses, trojans, malware, etc. Ran three adware programs (ad-aware, spywareblaster, spyware doctor) = Clear. Checked all running processes and startup tab in mscofig = no peculiar programs detected. Ran regseeker = Phenominal amount of invalid keys, etc. (3,000+) very unusual to the norm!!!
i was just playing some music on itunes and once again it gave me the blue screen, now im use to it always doing this when running any media software or watching videos online etc. i got a message i never seen b4 so i just would like someone to tell me if i can disable whatever it is thats causing it.

I had a computer, a Dell Inspiron B130, and I was about to run the last released version of the DooM source port Risen3d. Earlier, I had turned up the volume due to a music file being very low. The result was E1M1 blasting to all the people in the very small room. I tried to turn the volume down, but the old PC was having a hard enough time loading all the hiresolution textures and MD2 models. The power button wouldn't work, so I closed the cover and started to walk out. The music stopped, and the power lights went off. I opened the cover to restart the comp, then the lights came back on, the music blaring again, and I was starting to get stared at. I'm very shy, so I just pulled the plug on the laptop. The battery wasn't connected properly, and the power was cut instantly. Everything stopped, and I waited for a while to let thing cool off (one problem with the PC is that it doesn't ever give me heat errors even though the botom is about to melt off).
I put the battery back in properly, and turned it on. It went normal, showing me the Dell BIOS screen, then the second BIOS screen, then the boot options came on. It said to choose reboot normaly if you didn't know what happened or there was a power failure. I chose it, and after the Windows boot screen came up (I am running Windows XP Home Edition) and the little blue bar went all the way accross, a blue screen came up with an error message. A wiser computer man than I said to just leave it alone for a while, so I'll give what I remember. It was saying how an error had come up and something like "SECTION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" and said ***STOP (some address here, when I try again I'll post it) I didn't have a reboot button, so I had to cold restart. I tried every boot mode available, and safe mode gave me the same errors. The only thing that works is the diagnostics partition of the hard drive. It says all is well, and everything surely isn't right. The original operating system is on there, and no recovery disk is included. It shouldn't be a virus or a malware, I have had no problems until now. If the system is toast, tell me what I should do to get some data off the drive, I need some of that stuff. (as in almost life and death need, but more like a money loss need)
Anytime I try to access a picture or a music file from my external hd I get this error (I'm running XP). When in safe mode I do not get the error. Help would be greatly appreciated. I'll post a logfile from a hijackthis scan in a second.
when i get my Dell Inspiron E1705 to boot from my windows xp cd it goes through the screen where xp is trying install all the raid drivers etc.. before i can actually access my two hard drives delete them and create a new partion. right when its about to get to that screen i get the blue screen of death. well i have been reading around i read that going into my bios and changing my hard drive config to sata auto detect will fix my problem.
well i went into my bios and i do not have any sort of options when it comes to my system to hard drive configuration so im assuming if i do not have this feature or option that i have a IDE hard drive not sata. so if this is my situation how do i get my computer to stop going to the blue screen of death before i get to the screen where i can delete my partion
Many of my application icons (exe) have changed to default blue rectangle, and other applications icons changed to unknown type (e.g. pdf icons)I have tried windows restore - that wont work.I have tried changing from 32 bit to 16 bit and back that wont work either. It has nothing to do with resolution. I am attaching a snapshot of what i mean.
The settings in my folder options have been changed. If i left click any file it comes up wth access denied.. However if i right click and go to open then the file will open. The problem was caused by going Tools>folder options> file types.... file folder and folder have been changed on the advanced button..also AudioCD file has been changed.
I downloaded a music file from limewire about a week ago, and as I went to load it onto iTunes it didnt respond. It also won't delete, be moved, or you can't change its name. I've tried Safe Mode but that didnt help either. The name also seems to be taken up by spaces... It is also 0 bytes I have some screencaps if that helps:
This is what happens when I right click:
This is what a normal file looks like when I right click:
When I double click it, it makes like a 'bong' sound and it doesnt respond at all, it does absolutely nothing.
actually at my work place i'm trying to download some hindi mp3 music files but somehow it not working. as I'm trying to right click on the song link and by selecting 'save target as' its openning the dailog box to save it but at this point it trying to save as HTML documents instead of mp3 format.if i try manuaaly to change file extension from html to mp3 than i can not play this file as it gives error about class-file of media player.I checked on Internet explorer tools internet option and security tab and verfied download file is enabled.
from my limewire i bring the music into my iTunes library and was wondering if there was a program or somethign that scan my library and complete artist, song name, cd, and album, and all the other data without having to go through all my songs and find the info.
Im am getting STOP - c0000218 Registry file falure the registry cannon load the hive. systemroot/system32/config/security or its log or alternative. It is corrupt, absent , or not writeable. but whatever I do it I end up with the blue page with the eror message on it. I went into the bios setings and made sure that it could be bootable with cd but all in vain.
I've used Windows ever since 3.1. My Blue Screen count was 95 - 2 BS, 98 - 0 BS, ME - 5 BS, XP - 0 BS... until now. I've been through a laptop, and four PCs with XP, and my current one is the only one I've had Blue Screens on. In fact, until I got it, I thought Blue Screens in XP were just a myth.
I've built three computers. Two of them had XP Home installed (one of them is what I am currently using), and one had XP Pro. I built this computer around April of this year. I had the Blue Screen problems since the start. I reformatted numerous times, changed partitions, etc., but nothing worked. I stopped using it when I went home from college for the summer, but now I'm back at college with the computer, and so are the Blue Screens.
I'm currently using an Esystem laptop that other than the odd error beep will not play music file or sounds on games.I needed WLAN driver a few days ago and you helped brilliantly, supplying me with the file.
About two day's ago I looked in the PF folder in my machine and as usual the PF's were .txt (except the Layout.ini, of course). But just now I happened to take a look at them and noticed that they have all changed to .pdf in some way. e.g. if I recall correctly an AVG Free file would be [something like] AVG75Free.txt but now it is AVG75FREE_516A1262.EXE-225B0AE9.pf and when I attempt to open it I get an error saying:Adobe Reader cannot open AVG75FREE_516A1262.EXE-225B0AE9.pf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example if was sent as an email attachment and hasn't correctly decoded). My default pdf reader is Foxit. And the proficiency with which files/programs are opened does not seem to have been retarded.I don't recall doing anything that I believe may have caused this. And the only thing I have downloaded since last looking in the PF folder is TweakUI. Could the cause simply be a matter of non-intelligent design?
System backups are of no help as I apparently deleted any such when I cleaned house yesterday. The closest I have come to fixing the problem is to change the file type in Folder Options to Text Document using the TXT file extension which places the Notepad icon on the PF files (even after restart) instead of the usual [plain] text doc icon. But the PF files are now otherwise building and opening properly. Is having the Notepad icon on the PF files a problem? Complete AVGFree a/s and AVGFree a/v scans with current updates indicate no problems. I am using XP Home SP2 with all critical updates.
