Dell Inspiron Blue Screen - Music Blaring
Jan 3, 2008
I had a computer, a Dell Inspiron B130, and I was about to run the last released version of the DooM source port Risen3d. Earlier, I had turned up the volume due to a music file being very low. The result was E1M1 blasting to all the people in the very small room. I tried to turn the volume down, but the old PC was having a hard enough time loading all the hiresolution textures and MD2 models. The power button wouldn't work, so I closed the cover and started to walk out. The music stopped, and the power lights went off. I opened the cover to restart the comp, then the lights came back on, the music blaring again, and I was starting to get stared at. I'm very shy, so I just pulled the plug on the laptop. The battery wasn't connected properly, and the power was cut instantly. Everything stopped, and I waited for a while to let thing cool off (one problem with the PC is that it doesn't ever give me heat errors even though the botom is about to melt off).
I put the battery back in properly, and turned it on. It went normal, showing me the Dell BIOS screen, then the second BIOS screen, then the boot options came on. It said to choose reboot normaly if you didn't know what happened or there was a power failure. I chose it, and after the Windows boot screen came up (I am running Windows XP Home Edition) and the little blue bar went all the way accross, a blue screen came up with an error message. A wiser computer man than I said to just leave it alone for a while, so I'll give what I remember. It was saying how an error had come up and something like "SECTION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" and said ***STOP (some address here, when I try again I'll post it) I didn't have a reboot button, so I had to cold restart. I tried every boot mode available, and safe mode gave me the same errors. The only thing that works is the diagnostics partition of the hard drive. It says all is well, and everything surely isn't right. The original operating system is on there, and no recovery disk is included. It shouldn't be a virus or a malware, I have had no problems until now. If the system is toast, tell me what I should do to get some data off the drive, I need some of that stuff. (as in almost life and death need, but more like a money loss need)

Dell Inspiron 6400, Windows XP I can usually fix simple problems, so many people ask me to help them with simple problems. My mother had what i thought to be a simple problem that now appears to be a fatal problem. My mom ran Lavasoft Ad-Aware because the computer seemed to be running slower then normal, also receiving many more pop-ups then normal. Ad-Aware was detecting around 50 infections, the infections kept returning even after Ad-Aware 'fixed' them. many pop-ups and slow performance. I did the same thing, ran Ad-Aware, and recognized that the majority of infections cam from the same root files; rustock, vxgame and spyware.trojan. Ad-Aware could not remove them so i downloaded Spybot, Spybot did the same thing, recognized them but after restart the problems and the infections were still there.

I had to purchase a new hardrive for a Dell Inspiron 5100. I am just wondering how to go about the Windows reinstallation on a Dell. Do I just plug in the reinstall cd like usual and go from there? I know this might be a Duh question, but it's a Dell.

My kid is home from LSU with a laptop with no sound. She can't hear her music or UTube, but video works great. I know it's a crummy laptop, but we're trying to band aid it until she graduates and buys herself a better one.Dell Inspiron 700 Windows XP--there is no sound and no error messages. Of course the mute button is off. We went to the Dell website and downloaded the audio driver, but still nothing. We'll try anything short of buying a new laptop or motherboard.

I am having a hard time with running a chkdsk/f I can not get to any other screen but that. I didnt not have a problem with this computer until the large battery went out on my surge protector and when I moved it to my husbands music room (because his computer got a virus) Upon start up it gives the the options to start up normal, safe mode ect. Well I dont know what to do...I believe the f drive is my 3.5 disc drive it is dusty inside there and blew some out, that did not help and then I unplugged it, no help with that either. Any suggestions will help as I am unable to figure out what to do.

I am having major issues with starting up my laptop. It is a Dell Inspiron 6000running Windows XP and just recently had an automatic windows update (other than that, nothing has been downloaded recently). When I try starting up the computer, it gives me a blue screen of death when the windows logon page is supposed to load. The BSOD gives me the error code STOP: C000021a, and that a "fatal error has occured". It also gives this code: 0xC000012

I recently uninstalled a bunch of unused programs from my Win XP and I may have uninstalled some thing. Now the DVD does not play anymore and I get the error message "The file does not have a program assocaited with it to perform this action." each time I try to play a DVD.I have gone to the "Device Manager" to check for the DVD driver. It is still there and working fine. I even unistalled the driver and rebooted my computer. This did not help.

I recently bought a new battery, thinking my old one which was a refurbished battery just packed up as it was on the way out. When i put new battery in the power meter reads 52%. The battery is not charging however! When the power plug is pulled out the battery light does not come on! The battery is a brand new 9cell, so im sure it is not the battery. I suspect this is why refurbished battery died, or has it? Any thoughts suggestions would be appreciated as im not so savvy at the tech stuff. The computer has been running abit slower recently after upgrading memory 3 months ago to 2gb, so wondering if its caught something! I have avast protection.

I am trying to fix a friends notebook but every time I turn on the computer it takes me to the safe mode selection and which ever mode I select, it starts loading but breaks out to the blue screen with the following error: 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000. I had this machine about a month ago and after checking the Hd and cleaning it I uninstalled Norton security and installed avira. I took it back to him and I thought everything was OK but he said he had put it in a closet for a couple of weeks and when he tried to turn it on it stopped on the Blue screen every time. I would run chkdsk /f if I could get to the CMD prompt but can never get past this error. 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000 Anyone have any advice for me. I don't have his XP disk but can probably get it if I need to.

My notebook Dell Inspiron 7500, Windows XP Profesional. I'm unable to start the windows XP profesional. I can still reach the advanced setup sceme for safe modes etc, by pressing F2 or F8. Also unable to startup the system in safemodes nor all other possible ways through the F8 menu. System gives an possible unexpected power failure, when I startup the system apears the traditional windows XP screen but before the welcome screen appears, appears a blue screen saying something about virtual memory dump. This screen disapears so quickly that I'm unable to read the complete message. I have no XP software or what so ever, notebook was in my possesion never connected to the net.

My sister had a nasty infection, including vundo and many others, some of which I could remove, many of which I couldn't using Spybot, Ad-aware, Trend Micro, Vundofix, etc. Because she only has pictures on her computer anyways, I've decided to reformat, and moved all her files to my computer. I've changed the Bios screen to boot from the cd, and popped it in, and I keep getting the message: No Bootable Device -- strike f1 to reboot, f2 for setup utility. I'm stuck and haven't been able to find any similar situation on the internet. The rescue disks are a set of 3 disks that came with my computer from Future Shop, burned with "dv6113" written on them.

When I turn my computer on it shows me the normal Windows XP loading icon and then that goes away and I can watch the CPU light go haywire right as the blue screen (of death) says that there has been a fatal error (0x0000135) and the system has shut down. I have no clue what to do... the only way to bypass this (if you want to call it that) is to hit F2 and go to setup mode. I don't know what to do there. I've had problems before where the computer will only go to one or another BSOD and I've had to completely clear the hard drive and reload everything on it aka start from scratch. Usually my dad does this but first I would like to see if there is any other way to fix it.

i have a dell inspiron 7500 with windows 200 installed on it. i just tried to play a music cd and wmp said it "cannot play the file b/c there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly". i ran diagnostics and it came back with no errors on the Audio port. i was able to hear all of the sound test w/o any issues. I have updated the drivers for windows 2000 on my laptop also. I checked for question marks or exclamation mark in Device Manager! Did not have any there? I also uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. when i go to properties for the sound drivers everything is grayed out!
