I have missed you all have a problem, had a virus popup spyfalcon, which resembles microsofts warnings,which says system is infected,I removed this effectively with smitRem and FixSpyFalcon.reg, but this left me with another problem my IE start side has been taken over by theguardservice.com and no matter how many times I change it the bugger keeps coming back
View 14 RepliesA curious problem I'm having. All dvd's, cd's, game cd's are showing as blank in explorer. I've upgraded the firmware on the drives, checked the connections etc but still nothing. Weirdly audio cd's seem to show and work in Itunes so I'm guessing it might be to with associations right or have i disabled a service by mistake?

I don't remember anything particular happening, but one day the right click menu started coming up without me clicking, whether I was on the desktop, Netscape, AIM, Wordpad, etc. I re-installed my touchpad software, thinking that would solve the problem, but it has continued. It interfers with my typing, so checking and replying to emails is really difficult.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new Gateway computer and have had several problems with it. As of a couple of days ago, I no longer have sound on my computer. None of my games have sound and I can no longer listen to the online radio stations. However, today when I was on a website, music did come out of the speaker (something the creator of the site built into his homepage). Gateway suggested I update my drivers, but none of them needed to be updated (when I attempted to update it told me I had the newest version). What can I do to see where the problem is coming from?

I've "installed" this update at least three times. And I've already got SP 2 installed, so why does it keep wanting to install something from SP 1? How do I make it stop?
I wrote befroe but did not get an answer. Please help me to understand. I have windows xp with verizon/msn. my son has to 2 emails and I have 1. I have symantec virus protection and it is working properly. The problem I do not understand is everytime my son signs on to either email address the box from symantec comes up saying 32sasser has been successfully blocked. When I look at my log from symantec it shows it is blocking it constantly.I ran the sasser tool and shows no virus and did sybot and adaware, it showed 265 critical and i removed them. I understand this is being blocked but isn't there a way to stop them or it from trying to do this ?He gets emails showing from postman and RE-- emails and when we look there is nothing on the page.

After updating my version of iTunes this afternoon I was of course prompted to restart my laptop (an HP Pavilion dv6000), which I did. However upon start-up I noticed a variety of Windows menu texts to be completely missing - that is, the dialogue boxes and other such usually-text-containing shapes came out (albeit somewhat abnormally usually, often shortened to a few pixels) with no text in it at all. Internet pages themselves show up just fine, but any other text associated with internet explorer itself (i.e. tab and toolbar titles, dropdown menus like 'Page', etc.) is text-blank (icons still remain though, which helps a little)

This is as if the video card has put the monitor in standby or something. Sometimes a wake-up event, like the mouse and keyboard will fix it, but often it doesn't. In that case, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL, then feel my way to the "restart" (and because Firefox always hangs when it quits, I have to guess when the "End Now" button comes up).

Now, no matter how many times I drop it in the recycle bin, and then empty the bin, or right click and delete it, or delete it from windows explorer. It keeps coming back It will be gone for a while... and then even within minutes. it just shows back up.

I right-clicked unlocker on that file and it said there is nothing to be unlocked so I deleted the file through the unlocker options. I checked the recycling bin to see if it ended up there but that file was not in the recycling bin. I thought nothing of it and assumed it's gone for good but after I restarted the computer it came back. I also scanned and removed all the bugs from my computer but still no use. It keeps coming back. Although the file keeps coming back it contains nothing and takes up 0 space.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI would like my Numlock to be on by default when I boot my computer, but Windows is not doing that. When my computer boots, the NumLock is on at the beginning, but then when the first Windows screen comes on I can watch and see the NumLock light go out.
I am using Windows XP Home, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. I have gone into the Bios and made sure that Numlock is ON/ENABLED. I have checked the Windows Registry item, and it is set to "2". Also, the operating system has been registered with MicroSoft.
Where else in Windows can this be coming from? What else can I do/try to get the NumLock to be on at bootup?
I have just run the re-installation disk for my friend's dell pc. It is running fine now except I get the duel boot menu with both choices are the same (windows xp home) then have to wait for the 30sec time out before it selects the top choice

The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0xc000009c".The laptop is slower than normal. Everything else seems to work apart from the internet and msn messenger, which will load up to begin with, but is slow, but then when something is typed into google or i put my information into msn messenger to log on it freezes and says they are not responding to send error report.
