Dec 24, 2009How can i recover access permission on particuler files and folders? Because i am not able to open some word and excel files even i am logged with administrator user.

No Permission To Access To Folder/ Invalid Operatings System Choice?
Feb 7, 2007I recently had to reinstall windows XP twice. I no longer have permission to access to my folder under documents & settings. Is there anyway that I can over ride the permissions? I also have two operating system choices when I boot the computer. I know there is a command to use in the run option to remove the invalid operatings system choice.

Sep 6, 2005First, I still have problem to set a folder to be private. It should be a VERY EAY task.But when I right click the Property of a folder on D: drive its "Make this private" check box is gray out.So I can NOT make a folder be private in D: drive.
It seem to me the private folders are private under "My Documents" in C: drive.
I read from Help, it says a drive MUST be NTFS
But I type
convert D: /fs:ntfs
It says my D drive already is NTFS format.
Since it already in NTFS, then why I can't
make it private?
Permission To Access Photoshop CS2
Aug 26, 2007Recently I tried to open up Photoshop CS2 like I do all the time, and it said I do not have permission to access this program.I am the only one who uses my computer, with no guest accounts active.I also noticed I can't even select to shut down computer from the Start button. I have to log out first, and then shut down from there.I did a virus sweep and found 3 Trojans, which have now been deleted. I also created another User account as an administrator, but I still get permission problems.

Aug 11, 2005I have a network of 20 computers with three workgroups. One workgroup (three computers) would like to have shared folers within the workgroup that are NOT
available to Everyone outside their workgroup but on the network. All 20 computers are on windows XP I went and unchecked simple file sharing so I can have the permission tab available. However I am having hard time finding the othertwo computers in the workgroup so I can grant them full access permsission. I assume I need to remove 'everyone' and add the other two computers in the work group and grant them full permission.
File Permission To Copy/paste The Files Uder The User Account
Dec 5, 2007I got a hard drive out of a computer running windows XP home (this computer was not booting in to windows), so I put the hard drive in a caddy and plugged it via USB in to another system so I can get photos, etc, off the hard drive before doing a reinstall of windows. I can look at the files on the HDD I have in the caddy but I do no have permission to open or copy/paste these photos or any other files under the user account I was using as I had a password on this account

Mar 25, 2006I have a drive (D:) that I am trying to delete remnants of a corrupted OS (XP Prof) and am having a difficult time trying to eliminate 3 folders: a) My Documents; b) Recycler;c) System volume information. I have gone into Safe Mode, to take ownership of these folders but to no avail. I am logged on as Administrator, and have gone this route because in normal and safe modes, the message of "ACCESS DENIED" comes up. Need some

Favorites Folder Need To Recover
Apr 9, 2007lost my windowsxp home,a friend offered to install his copy and said it would fine.it worked until i found out my copy wasn't genuine.in those 2 yrs all was fine,lost contact w/friend.Now couldn<t download xpservice pack 2,and the recently purchased norton anti virus would not work.was told needed to get new xpcd.was ok with that but not wanting to loose data had my bussness parter's boyfriend who work on pc take my desktop to save all my datas on an external drive.when went to pick up pc the external drive could not be read.I was devastated.thru a recovery program he was able to recover pictures and emails from my original drive and he transered all into a new external drive.but my favorites folder wasn't not recovered.and i had a bunch of adress from months of research that i really need.he tells me there is no hope.is this true?one more question,i had some back up of that folder on cd,now that my pc is all ok(genuinexp etc)do i just put these cd and re-instal those save favorites?I learned my lesson and want to make regular weekly back-ups,which program are best.faily new at this.

Mar 8, 2005microsofts website states that on your old machine if you un-install the drive before removing it, you should then be able to move it over to the new computer and everything should be dandy, now unfortunatly ive set up the new computer and the old computer isnt working for some reason and im not sure what happend along the way but thats another matter altogether.
my question is, is it possible for me to recover the information on this disk? xp is currently asking me to format the disk whenever i try to access it.
PartitionMagic and DiskManagement in XP both show the drive and its full amount of space but unfortunatly it doenst show up any partitions, it is however listed in PartitionMagic as a "dynamic disk".

Sep 3, 2009I had a system crash related to installing xp sp3. The only way I could get the system back up was to reinstall windows. Is there any way to find the files that were in the previous windows installation's 'my documents' folder? I had a few important files lost thru this process, and wondered if there is any possibility of recovering them.

When i performed a standard recovery program on my computer it was supposed to install the program without affecting any of the data on my system but it my three user profiles became one. I got all of my files but the most important one will not open and a message appears stating that the file is not accessible. The data is still there because the memory is still used up on the hard drive but the properties indicates as there is nothing.

Mar 16, 2006I was capturing digital video from camcorder and after compressing and burning it to DVD, deleted this file of 12GB size, since it is bigger in size it was not even shown in Recycle bin and whole space occupied by this file never recoved. After this incident a 6GB file from digital video capture happend exactly similar way. So in essence 18GB space is gone somewhere without any clue. Later tried running Norton tools and file system check, but no use. None of these able to detect this file. Searching the files of the same name(assuming misplaced somewhere) returned empty list and recyle bin is also empty. Also tried looking for big size file in C:WINDOWSTemp but no use.

Apr 11, 2006Files on my second hard drive were shared on the network (level 4, Network users could only read) and primary hard drive was reformatted and Windows XP sp2 was installed.(without the files being unshared) Now when trying to access the files the error "Access Denied" occurs and I cant access or delete the files (would really like to recover the data about four years worth of work taking up about 75% of the hard drive)

Jul 20, 2006a lack of permission for filesharing/or computer sharing from XP laptop:Maybe it is simple but I have spent many hours trying uselessly.I am new to XP and have searched everywhere I can try - (tho' as these are French versions, maybe I am missing something obvious. so in replies, please be extra clear in stating exactly what steps I must take.
1) Networked 2 laptops: a win98SE and winXP Home Edition +SP2, using TCP/IP
2) Both have filesharing enabled,etc, both 'ping' to router and to each other
3) the XP can open, read, write, etc to the win98 - no access problems at all.
4) the win98 can ping and 'see' the named XP computer itself, but cannot 'see' any of its files:
5) Not a firewall problem: tried with firewalls off (Zonealarm) and checked winXP firewall off.
6) Not a router problem: Same situation as above with a direct connection of crossover cable.
7) Netbios is enabled on the XP
8) It is apparently 'just' a permission problem within the XP
