Still trying to record sound, using the external RCA jacks on the front of the computer. To record sound, is it true that you have to be able to hear it on the computer? You can record it if you can hear it, because it is already in the computer?

I have a strange audio problem which i havent encounted before and cant for the life of me figure it out.My microphone isnt recording exteral sound, but i can record sound only from in the computer i.e. "what you hear" records.

and a can't find it anywhere else. it make the hardware sound when I plug it in but nothing shows up. when I plug it in another port it comes up with a message saying "USb device not recognized. one of the usb device attached to this computer has malfunction and windows cannot recognize it
i recently installed a mic on my laptop (Toughbook CF-29) and I can hear myself/sounds from the mic through the speaker on my laptop, but xp sound recorder and/or Audacity won't record the sounds going through the mic/speakers. I have tried messing about with advanced audio properties, but can't figure this out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedComputer is messed up. She has no idea what happened and called me over to take a look at it. So i went over and I started the computer and it goes to the first start screen where it says this at the bottom "Press [TAB] to show post screen; Press [ALT] + [F2] to enter AWDFlash Utility" Then it pauses there like it is actually going to fully start up but then the computer restarts and it goes through that all over again. I put in their Windows XP CD and ran the recovery program and it came up saying that it started and then it says type EXIT to exit the recovery utility. She says that when it first started doing this something came up saying "Deleting Orphan Record Files" then it listed a whole bunch of files and said "Deleted" beside it.. the list was kinda like what you get when you run a virus scan and it list all the files.. but it listed approx. 5,000,000 files. I find that a little hard to belive but she claims it happened. Is there away to fix this and get her back up and going or will I have to install a NEW/FRESH copy of Xp and like reformat the HD.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

The front ports won't or can't accept my creative mu vu mp3 player.The message tells me to use a high speed port.I do use the front ports for my camera cord with no problem.My mp3 player works ok in the back ports but its inconvienient to crawl under the desk and plug into the back.Would it be advisable to buy a usb hub? Should I buy a so called powered hub?

Now all my task is missing the front two tabs. I should normally have 4 tabs (Task, Schedule, Settings and Security). Now I only have 2 tabs (Settings and Security). What can I do to enable the front two tabs again? Even newly created tabs have only the two tabs. The newly created task would still run, but I cannot update them anymore.

I have to turn everything off, unplug the External hard Drive and then everything operates normally. Once the computer is booted up I can reconnect the external hard Drive and all works fine. The othe rnoticeable difference ids that the computer has become very very slow to respond to commands.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an external USB 300GB Seagate drive that used to work fine.Then, periodically XP would not recognize when I turned it on. A re-boot would fix the problem. Now, XP won’t recongnize the drive at all. I get an "unknown device" error. I have a USB 2.0 card I plug the drive into, and all other devices in that card work fine. The device driver manager says all is well, except of course with the "unknown device" it notes, which is the external drive.

Recently she tried to burn a audio CD. The CD drive reads CD's and DVD's but won't allow her to record. The drive had worked in the past. Is there a chance there is still a registry problem here that is preventing the drive from recording? She has reloaded the software from Dell. She uses Itunes, Windows Media Center, Nero, which in the past has allowed her to record

I will like to know from the Cnet uses that use windows xp sp2 to tell me how many viruses that they has on their pc. My record number is 105 viruses when doing a full system scan with the full paid version and updated version of Norton anti-virus 2004! I was surprised that i had that many viruses when i had been running norton for 3 or 4 months running full system scans once a week and a quick scan once everyday. I later then uninstalled norton becuase my computer was going too slow and installed avast antivirus. The first scan that i ran with avast as soon as i installed it found another 24 viruses. That is a total of 129 viruses.
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy PC has 2 disks it was setup with a boot manager on disk1 disk1 has linux. disk2 is my Win XP disk. my question is can I safely write a boot block on disk2 and not loose data like the XP CD warns you about? I'm not using Linux on disk1 anymore, but I need the boot manager to boot XP on disk2. so the question is how safe is it to use the XP CD and fix/create a boot record on disk2? Are there any issues? I really don't want to restore because of the software is already working..

View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased new blank Sony 700 MB CD RW's for a little more capacity. Windows & my Nero 8 both eventually refuse to record to the discs because they are recognizing them as "illegal discs". This error message must result from the size of the disc as I have no problems with 650 MB discs. I was able to record to one of the discs with another computer.This second computer is 64 bit XP VS my 32 bit. The burners are identical, and the Nero 7 used is nearly identical.I then erased the disc (with Nero 7) and tried it in the problem computer same issue.
