Microphone Wont Record External Sounds But Record From PC?
Mar 26, 2008I have a strange audio problem which i havent encounted before and cant for the life of me figure it out.My microphone isnt recording exteral sound, but i can record sound only from in the computer i.e. "what you hear" records.

Sep 9, 2005I have an HP Pavilion a815n desktop PC with Win XP Home. Recently I noticed that Sound Recorder and calculator are missing. I tried researching HP website but without any luck on how to restore the missing things. The only way I know is to restore them is by installing XP again because I tried using Software restore CD that came with the PC but no luck.I have one hard drive that is divided in 3 NTFS partitions. One of which has OS and other two partitions are data drives. If I try to format system partition in order to reinstall OS, will my other two data partitions remain intact?

Dec 24, 2005Using XP Pro - go to start, programs, accessories, entertainment, sound recorder. I have used this sound recorder to record a message that I wish to email to a few people. After recording the message, I save it to my desktop. I then go to my email account and attach the file that I have saved to my desktop. The problem seems to be that what I am attaching is actually the address to my desktop and not the actual recording I am trying to send. In other words, what I am sending directs to "C:Documents and SettingsDavidDesktop". Anyway, I would really like to solve this problem and send the recording that I have been trying to do. Can't Record CD's On A Dell XPS M1210
Nov 19, 2007My daughter has a Dell XPS M1210 laptop running Windows XP Media Center Edition. She got fooled by PSGuard and thought she was downloading antispyware software after a warning came on her screen. She ended up with the TrojanDownloder.xs and the SmitFraud problem. With a lot of assistance from techs on this site (thank you, thank you I was able to fix all the problems. At least that is what I thought.
Recently she tried to burn a audio CD. The CD drive reads CD's and DVD's but won't allow her to record. The drive had worked in the past. Is there a chance there is still a registry problem here that is preventing the drive from recording? She has reloaded the software from Dell. She uses Itunes, Windows Media Center, Nero, which in the past has allowed her to record

Apr 6, 2006I will like to know from the Cnet uses that use windows xp sp2 to tell me how many viruses that they has on their pc. My record number is 105 viruses when doing a full system scan with the full paid version and updated version of Norton anti-virus 2004! I was surprised that i had that many viruses when i had been running norton for 3 or 4 months running full system scans once a week and a quick scan once everyday. I later then uninstalled norton becuase my computer was going too slow and installed avast antivirus. The first scan that i ran with avast as soon as i installed it found another 24 viruses. That is a total of 129 viruses.

"Another application is recording audio. Stop recording with this other application and then try to record with Sound Recorder again." I have turned off all of the start up programs, restarted my computer, and even uninstalled TotalRecorder, which I thought was causing the problem.
I have tried to use Audio Audicity to record as well, but I get an error message there also, so something is really screwing everything up for me.
Deleting Orphan Record Files From Computer
Oct 7, 2006Computer is messed up. She has no idea what happened and called me over to take a look at it. So i went over and I started the computer and it goes to the first start screen where it says this at the bottom "Press [TAB] to show post screen; Press [ALT] + [F2] to enter AWDFlash Utility" Then it pauses there like it is actually going to fully start up but then the computer restarts and it goes through that all over again. I put in their Windows XP CD and ran the recovery program and it came up saying that it started and then it says type EXIT to exit the recovery utility. She says that when it first started doing this something came up saying "Deleting Orphan Record Files" then it listed a whole bunch of files and said "Deleted" beside it.. the list was kinda like what you get when you run a virus scan and it list all the files.. but it listed approx. 5,000,000 files. I find that a little hard to belive but she claims it happened. Is there away to fix this and get her back up and going or will I have to install a NEW/FRESH copy of Xp and like reformat the HD.

Windows & my Nero 8 both eventually refuse to record to the discs because they are recognizing them as "illegal discs". This error message must result from the size of the disc as I have no problems with 650 MB discs. I was able to record to one of the discs with another computer.This second computer is 64 bit XP VS my 32 bit. The burners are identical, and the Nero 7 used is nearly identical.I then erased the disc (with Nero 7) and tried it in the problem computer same issue.
