I have a problem with my headphone, I plugged it into the front jack and it's been working okay for months now. A couple days ago I noticed only the right side of the phones playing, I tried it in the soundcard and the same problem I tried it on my cassette player and the same thing
View 7 RepliesJust tonight, my system went crazy. after i pulled out my speakers and plugged in my headphones, the pc froze for a while, then went back to like 4 bit colour. i rebooted and it wouldnt load back up windows. it came to the screen where u pick normal boot up, or safe mode etc only way i can get anywhere, and submitting this, is through safe mode. any ideas what happened and if i can fix it without fotmatting?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHave you been frustrated that you cannot hear any sound when you plug your headphones directly into the headphone jack of your CD-ROM drive? This is because headphones play analogue sound - Windows Media Player is set to play digital sound. To rectify this:1. First in Control Panel go to System -Hardware - Device Manager. Double-click on "DVD/CD ROM Drives" and right click on the drive that you want to use and click "properties" on the drop-down menu.2. Go to the "Properties" tab and uncheck the box "Enable digital cd audio for this device" and press "ok"3. At this point you may be requested to restart the computer. Do so if you are prompted or the tweak won't work.4.
Then in Windows Media Player go to "Tools" and then "Options". Click the "Device" tab in the window that appears.5. Select the drive you want to use and then click "Properties.." at the bottom of the window.6. Under the "Playback" dialogue clck the "Analogue" box and then press "Apply" and "ok".You should now be able to listen with headphones. But remember you may have to revert these changes if you ant to use the drive for playback thru the speakers and for games. Also the sound controls in Media Player do not work for headphones; you only have th evoluem control on the actual drive.
My gf has a Vaio laptop and everytime we plug headphones into the jack we no longer get sound out of the speakers. we still get sound out of the headphones just not the speakers. She found a setting once that was set to headphones only and she changed it back to speakers and they worked again but now she doesnt know where that setting is anymore. Im alot more comfortable on a desktop and have never seen this setting and i have gone through just bout everything in audio settings but still have not found this.

Now the problem is that any sound that is heard through my headphones is also being broadcasted through my microphone. ( e.g. If I'm listiening to music and I open my microphone to talk to somebody in ventrilo they can hear the music that is playing in my headphones
Still trying to record sound, using the external RCA jacks on the front of the computer. To record sound, is it true that you have to be able to hear it on the computer? You can record it if you can hear it, because it is already in the computer?

Since reinstalling XP my minimized windows are not side by side on the task bar any longer there are two arrows which usually means they are in a list but they aren't, they just stack up on top of each other with only one icon which I have to keep clicking to resume the page I want to view.

What is wrong with unplugging the modem, reformatting and installing everything including SP2, AVG AV, and Kerio personal firewall, THEN going back online and getting updates? Also, what is the value of slipstreaming SP2 instead of just installing XP then installing SP2 before going back online for all win xp updates?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis machiene has Fedora core 6 currently loaded on the ATA133 150 gb segate drive with an AMD 3200+ 2.2ghz and 1.25 gig of ram along side a Geforce 5900xt all riding on the a7n8x nforce 2 chipset. This is a kick butt system however Vista does not support my hardware and linux is not using my swap file correctly.I put in the legal copy of windows xp sp2 and boot my pc asks me to press any key to boot from cd and upon completion the screen reads Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration. then the screen is black jack and there aint no going back I've left it up for hours. Tried booting using the BARTS ultimate boot cd, same thing. Tried a floppy boot disk and I get a similar issue. Even when trying to boot from a USB I have trouble. But Fedora core still comes up fine and I can boot into that setup.

The front ports won't or can't accept my creative mu vu mp3 player.The message tells me to use a high speed port.I do use the front ports for my camera cord with no problem.My mp3 player works ok in the back ports but its inconvienient to crawl under the desk and plug into the back.Would it be advisable to buy a usb hub? Now all my task is missing the front two tabs. I should normally have 4 tabs (Task, Schedule, Settings and Security). Now I only have 2 tabs (Settings and Security). What can I do to enable the front two tabs again? Even newly created tabs have only the two tabs. The newly created task would still run, but I cannot update them anymore.

While playing around with it the entire Start, taskbar, notification, and clock ended up on right side of the screen. While trying to fix it, it disappeared. I rebooted and it came back on the right side. How do I get it back on the bottom? Once back on bottom (hopefully), how do I get the date to show (it's hidden under systray. I can see a small sliver peeking up)?
