Recently my laptop has been running very slowly and I've noticed that the cpu usage is usually at 100%, even when most of the more memory intensive programs such as firefox and azureus are closed. Is this a problem with most lenovo laptops? I have a thinkpad T43p.

View 13 Replies View RelatedLately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank

How do I find what is running to help speed up my PC, and also; which are essential? I have dial-up AOL. It's running like a horse-drawn computer. How can I get it up to at least steam-powered.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe run Comcast high speed, two computers running though a router setup. My son "opened a port" to speed up his game play. My computer now crawls. Pages take too long to load, and I now sometimes get the server error message here, server not responding. Any idea what I can do. My son seems baffled, but I know he doesn't want to sacrifice his warp speed game play.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHave you been frustrated that you cannot hear any sound when you plug your headphones directly into the headphone jack of your CD-ROM drive? This is because headphones play analogue sound - Windows Media Player is set to play digital sound. To rectify this:1. First in Control Panel go to System -Hardware - Device Manager. Double-click on "DVD/CD ROM Drives" and right click on the drive that you want to use and click "properties" on the drop-down menu.2. Go to the "Properties" tab and uncheck the box "Enable digital cd audio for this device" and press "ok"3. At this point you may be requested to restart the computer. Do so if you are prompted or the tweak won't work.4.
Then in Windows Media Player go to "Tools" and then "Options". Click the "Device" tab in the window that appears.5. Select the drive you want to use and then click "Properties.." at the bottom of the window.6. Under the "Playback" dialogue clck the "Analogue" box and then press "Apply" and "ok".You should now be able to listen with headphones. But remember you may have to revert these changes if you ant to use the drive for playback thru the speakers and for games. Also the sound controls in Media Player do not work for headphones; you only have th evoluem control on the actual drive.
Anyhow, on my second laptop, my roommate borrowed it and of course has no idea what she could've possibly ever done. She's probably a lil' too dense to realize if she download or got some kind of virus using it. And, of course, she didn't bother telling me right away so when I went to start up the laptop one day, it was going extremely slow.It took about 10 minutes for the laptop to boot to the windows login screen. Any mouse movement whether on the mousepad or when I hook up my USB mouse takes about 1 minute to register any movement. I haven't even been able to get to the main desktop screen. (I'm trying as I type.. but, judging by the length of how long it took the other stuff, I could be in for a long wait.) Even when I typed in the password it took about 5 minutes for it to seemingly type out.. but the "dots" cut off so I have no idea if it actually will go through or not or if I will get the "incorrect password" error message.
View 4 Replies View Relatedcomputer (WinXP SP2 - 1GB RAM) just started in the last day or two to load really slow -- it takes a good half hour or more to get to the point where you can click on an icon and it takes a few minutes to open. Don't even ask about the internet. it did not download anything in the last few days and has no idea why this is happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy problems are a very long boot up (go away and make a coffee length) and also slow running, especially in opening progs for the first time ie, very slow to open Word initially, then much faster opening subsequent Word files. Even so, the laptop has slowed considerably and is often hesitant.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIt is very slow to boot, taking perhaps two minutes to the desktop. It also runs very slow and choppy, it is not unusual for it to take 15 seconds just to populate the Control Panel window. This slow behavior continues throughout all applications. There seems to be more HD activity than I would expect

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 5 year old Inspiron 1100 that I recently opened up to clean the cooling fan/heat sink. This was the first time I ever opened this laptop and was careful about doing it. When I reassembled/closed up, the laptop would not boot up. The power light is on, the fan is running, but no HD activity, no display and no lights (number lock, scroll etc). I removed the battery and tried it with same results. I even removed the ram modules and tried to boot with same results.
