I just recently ran in to a problem with the CD wizardof Windows XP.When I try to burn data on to a CD it keeps telling me to insert a disk into the drive, even though there is a disk in the machine.I have used other programs such as Musicmatch and HP's program called Recordnow and all work just fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently destroyed file structure due to mistakenly writing a partition table to the wrong hard disk drive on my machine while installing an experimental version of OS X. The saving factor is that the partition that may have formatted was only 20GB out of 200GB and the rest was unallocated free space. I have installed a temporary instance of WinXP to use data recovery software and recover the majority of files from the drive (it is installed on the non-corrupted
drive).
Ive got some burning software by the name of MySonicDVD on the PC but when trying to load it up comes up DMA disabled, well ive done everything to enable it no joy so thought ive got Nero 5 somewhere, dug that out installed it and tried to use that, but it first came up couldnt be used as not correct bundle package (or something similiar), then manage to get sort of somewhere but it didnt like the fact it was an .avi.Now nearly 7 hours to burn a dvd hmmmm, ive not got much of a life but a little bit of one to not waste 7 hours a time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use COMPUPIC imaging software which allows me to create a slide show where I can change the order of the individual JPEG files in a directory. I can then copy these files into a new directory from within COMPUPIC and it retains the new ordering, not the original alphabetic ordering. So far everything is great. However when I then try to copy these files to a CD they are reordered alphabeticaly. I'm using Windows XP and Roxia CD Creator 5 Basic. This is a problem since I would like to use the reordered file on my CD player to create a slide show in the order I specified in my Compupic imaging software.

I'm not using Linux on disk1 anymore, but I need the boot manager to boot XP on disk2. so the question is how safe is it to use the XP CD and fix/create a boot record on disk2? Are there any issues? I can be moving the mouse across the page, for example, when it will start responding erratically or stop. As this is happening the hd light blinks even though nothing is being saved or opened. I have disabled indexing, run virus checks and adware and spyware removal tools. I do have a wireless router attached but i haven't checked to see if it happens with my laptop also.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently replaced my old LCD PC monitor with my TV LCD monitor which is 20"however the only time I can read writing clearly is when I set the resolution to the TV's stats at 640x480 - very clear but the prob is that everything TOO big so I can't get around the screen. It will not accept choosing Run in Safe Mode. It is not possible to get into BIOS. I have reloaded Windows on another HDD and I will be able to recover most of my data from backups. However, there is still some recent data on the bad disk which I am frantic to recover. I am able to find the "Documents and Settings" folder where I believe the "Outlook Express" data is held
I am unable to get into the folder as my username on the computer was passworded (the password is known). Neither am I allowed to copy the folder to my new drive. I cannot access the folder from my new OS even when I password myself with the same username / password. I have attempted to repair the bad drive's copy of Windows but that wasn't successful. I don't want to replace the bad copy with a fresh as this would reformat the drive taking with it the folder I want (and can't copy). Any work on the folder would need to be on the bad drive, it seems. I have run out of ideas.
Can I install XP on a hard drive which has only one partition with data without destroying the data?

Apparently, I connected the HDD enclosure to a USB 1.1 port and XP advised me I could get better performance by connecting it to a USB 2.0 port.After some time, XP reported an error indicating it couldn't save E:$Mft (E: is the drive letter assigned to the external enclosure) due to a lazy write problem.I disconnected the external drive enclosure from the system and put it back in the laptop and when I boot the machine, it displays the "starting windows" screen, the progress bar goes to the end, and the machine reboots itself.

"c" will print "-", n will be 7, ";" will be the "page up" key etc. I've reinstalled the keyboard drivers but no success. language/region settings are US as always. no idea why it's suddenly scrambled. keyboard is microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.0A. batteries are fine. XP system. Please help. this is really causing a ton of trouble. I'm using software kboard to type this.
