Slow Burning Of Data:dvd Has Taken 7 Hours To Burn?
Apr 16, 2008
Ive got some burning software by the name of MySonicDVD on the PC but when trying to load it up comes up DMA disabled, well ive done everything to enable it no joy so thought ive got Nero 5 somewhere, dug that out installed it and tried to use that, but it first came up couldnt be used as not correct bundle package (or something similiar), then manage to get sort of somewhere but it didnt like the fact it was an .avi.Now nearly 7 hours to burn a dvd hmmmm, ive not got much of a life but a little bit of one to not waste 7 hours a time.
I can't burn any CDs.I get an error, still.i have tried a slower CD speed, a different CD type, a new cd burner and none work. When i got the new cd burner it worked fine, for about 3 days then it stopped again.
Is it possible to burn data to a CD in DOS? Good in Home Networking, XP Home based problems, and Pro based Problems Add my email to MSN Messenger if u wish jayso_chinnery@spamfreehotmail.com.au (remove spamfree)
I just recently ran in to a problem with the CD wizardof Windows XP.When I try to burn data on to a CD it keeps telling me to insert a disk into the drive, even though there is a disk in the machine.I have used other programs such as Musicmatch and HP's program called Recordnow and all work just fine.
One of our XP computers runs automated updates for Windows. However the last few days, there have been 10 updates installing, and the 3rd update is taking hours upon hours to install. I have never seen anything like that before. Is this normal? How would I go about approaching this? It will more than likely update itself later today
I have a recent problem where my computer will spend anywhere from 5-10 seconds switching to a different window. It doesn't matter whether it is loaded or not. For instance, I'll have 2 MSN conversations open where I can see both at the same time, and no matter what I'm doing, it will take the same amount of time just to switch over to say "lol".
This is very annoying, because if an error comes up (in any program) that requires opening a new window, it will take 10 seconds to load, and then 10 seconds to respond to me clicking "ok". I am wasting so much time waiting, and it is becoming one of the most aggravating issues I've ever had.
This also applies to clicking on anything on the start bar at any time, minimizing, maximizing, or changing size to any window ever. It doesn't effect anything that happens within any programs itself that aren't window related.
I'm using XP and have 2 gb of RAM.

pc was very stable until I introduced new replacement tv card After a system freeze caused by a new pinnacle tv tuner I had to do a hard reset ( press power button for 4 secs ) When the system rebooted it stuck on the post screen, it auto detects my hardware and then stops. After about half an hour it moves on to the next bios screen (which would normally only show up for a second or two during boot up) and then stayed on that screen for 16 - 24 hours.I gave up, left it running & went to sleep (still displaying the same screen in the morning) & then work the next day. I came home from work to find the windows welcome screen on my monitor!!?? But on rebooting it takes nearly 24 hours to start up
I have a number of XP computers (all SP2) connected to the Net via a wireless modem/router. Everything was fine until a few days ago when my connection speed dramatically slowed after being online for a few hours. This happens to all of the PCs in my home - so it's nothing internal to my PC. I tried to transfer a large file across the wireless network and it transferred fine (5Mb in 10 seconds). I can also connect to the router's web management software without problem. So it's not the wireless connection. Which leaves either my modem/router or my broadband connection. The router's "DSL" light is always on which infers that my broadband connection is OK. So that leaves my modem/router.
I know it's maybe the wrong NG, but could you help or direct me to the right one. This morning I tried to burn data to a DVD......only burnt the intro then stopped with a error.Tried again ... same thing...Virus checked, spyware checked, all OK Did a sfc scannow, did a system restore to 2 days ago.Tried again, same results.Un-installed Nero and removed all traces from registry.Reloaded Nero.Tried again, same results. I can burn to DVD-RW and CD-RW and CD-R but not DVD+ or DVD-I am adding the error message, I know its long but in other posts it has been said that not enough info is given.Nothing unusual happened at shutdown last night or bootup this morning.Problems seem to start at 8:48:15 AM #21 I don't know how to interpret this data
My 20 Gb HD is gaining data at a rate of about 1MB every 4 days and I have limited space. I am not down loading any programs or anything I want to keep, also I daily run ADIOS to clean out all the cookies, temporary internet files, etc. I have deleted all programs that I am not using, also I am allowing SYSTEM RESTORE to to have only 1022 MB of space. My OS is XP home with SP2. Can someone please help me determine where this data is coming etc.
I deleted some of my movies and Japanese seasons but after deleting then the comp was going so slow and froze which I then had to shut the comp down. I deleted three seasons has about 4 gigs each. I only deleted one movie which was 1 gig. So why does it do this. When I tell it to delete it it immediately disappears so why does it go so slow and freeze?
lately my computer has been running very slow. i often get a pop up at the bottom of my screen when i have two programmes running (mostly msn and mozilla) saying something about a low virtual data (or something like that). startup isnt as fast as it could be and my computer overall just needs a little bit of speediness. any tips?
after being online for about 2-2and a half hours my comp slows way down to the point of not being able to much of anything. Then after I let it sit for around 20-30 minutes it clears up and does fine. Just wondering why it started doing this and what I can do to resolve this issue.
PC will auto lock every few hours. You must then unlock by pressing CTRL+ALT+DLT and then enter the Windows password. This PC is equiped with Windows XP and is part of a Network. The screen saver is not engaged.
I want to make Windows XP Pro SP2 accessible only at specific hours, for example only between 10:00h - 12:00h every day, and the rest of the day the workstation to be inaccesible (unable to login, or unable to boot, or whatever, no matter). I checked out Local Security Policy, but as far as I've understand, the related settings there are about networking only. Anyone here knows such a restrictive software, or the specific settings in Windows' own security policy, if any, or a registry tweak, or whatever?
clock in XP keeps going out by odd times.. and gets worse if he leaves it...it does this on both sync from windows time AND not to sync...what is causing this?tonight it was 47mins slow I have restart win32 time in CMD
I have an E-Machines with 512mb of ram and run Windows XP Pro. My computer seems to freeze when left on for more than 5-6 hours. I tried speaking with E-machines about this, but they just wanted me to buy a $100 extended service warranty. I have been looking at the event viewer, but the errors that pop up don't seem to correlate.
I have a hp pavilion model having windows XP home. Since few days I have problem while initial start up. I get the message PXE-E53 No Boot file name found followed by error message - No operating sysyem found. If I switch on and off several times the notebook starts normally with Windows XP. After it is on there is no problem afterwards. But I have this problem always when the notebook is switched off for some hours.
Pc crashes the internet all the time, he is working on a ACER Laptop, everyone else gets internet just fine, it is his laptop that won't get it all the time, and when he does get it, it sometimes only lasts for up most to about 3 to 4 hours. if he is that lucky.could this be an internal problem? or could a file have been corrupted somewhere in the system?right now he is running a disk scan to see if it picks up anything but i don't think it will.
I don't know what's wrong with my computer. My computer was running slow then eventually froze up, so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in, I used system restore and everything was working fine. The next day it started slowing down, then it froze up again. I used System Restore again to get it back to normal and I had to do this ridiculous ritual every day for the entire summer just to use my computer. When I look at the Task Manager bar, the meter is all green as if I have a lot of programs running, but I don't. The only application it says I have running is the Compaq Connections Agent, which comes on automatically when the computer start up.I've used all types of programs to fix this, like Norton Anti Virus, AVG Anti Virus, Dust Buster, Defrag, Ad-Aware, CCleaner, etc. Everything works fine at first, then about 24 hours later, the same thing happens all over again.
Hello, can someone tell me where I can get a Service Pack 1 CD mailed to me? My computer crashed and I have to re-install Service 1 and 2. I have the CD for Service Pack 2. Downloaded SP1 is about 4 hours using the Internet.
A buddy of mine just moved to the US from the UK and his computer has XP pro on it but it has a 24 hour clock rather than a 12 and I can't find a way to change it and when he goes to certain websites and attempts to DL something it shows him Euro DL sites rather than US and news web sites such CNN and FOX show UK and or Euro versions by defualt even after cookies have been cleared.
Playing music and it sounded fine then i went to listen to the same song about 2hrs later and it sounded like the vocals were quieter then the back ground then it got worse and worse until now it sounds like a bunch of computer scramble I'm running Windows Xp professional on AMD athlon with what I'm assuming is a legacy sound card.
My wife uses a second computer that is connected via a hard wire. My internet connection is through Comcast cable and my wifes receives the internet connection through a router. The router is a Trendnet TW 100. My wife downloads and lets others in her movie room download from her files. Once in a 24 hour period her computer loses the internet connection and disrupt either her download or upload. She has been told it is the router but I opened it and do not see any shut down instruction in it. Does anyone have an idea why this happens every 24 hours and how to fix it,
This morning my son set up his brand new athlon pc with xp professional pre installed by the supplier, it booted fine and an hour later when he installed Norton system works followed by a game it crashed and wont boot, customer services dont open till monday, any suggestions , he has not tried the recovery disk which is included , any suggestions would be greatly appreciated , we are looking for advice.
I run Windows XP SP2 (Which is completely up-to-date) and have a Toshiba CD-RW and DVD-RW combi drive. I've used it store backups of my files and recently everytime I try to record to any type of CD an error message appears saying the disk is either full or unuseable and to try another disk which I have I've also tried disks from different manufacturers and changed the recording speed to minimum but the device still displays the error.
have a great aussie concert, but it's in australian format disk can copy it and burn it back to dvd, and aussies can watch it, but when I send copies to USA, they can't see it..can anyone tell me how to copy/ configure/ find a program that will make it viewable to o/seas watchers? I run DVD Express to view DVDs.LG burner, and Nero to copy/burn. it's frustrating as I have heaps of good aussie videos that Americans can't see I'd appreciate any guidance here.
i can send files to the CD drive, but when I open an explorer window and try to use the "CD Writing tasks" on the left hand side (i.e Write these files to CD, Erase this CDRW etc...) nothing happens. The funny thing is, if I go back to "My Computer" and right click on the CD icon to perform a task, it appears to work. Dragging files to an open CD explorer window also causes the window to close (although the temporary files are still copied across and a notification that there are files ready to be written to CD is displayed). I am posotive the CDRWs and my CDRW drive are okay, as they work when using Nero. Its just an annoying problem I would like to sort out if anyone can help!? The probalem started before I installed Nero, so I dont think that has caused a problem. Some hardware specs below if they are needed: Microsoft XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service pack 3 HP Pavillion Intel Celeron CPU 1.80GHz 1.25GHz of Ram CD Drive: CyberDrv CW058D CD-R/RW Driver version 5.1.2535.0 Driver Date 01/07/2001
"where to get the free/cheaper software that can do they followings:
Limit the hours of using computer. Automatically computer log off after hours. Setup the days to use computer. Block specific website Stop them from playing games from the internet/computer too Stop each user from downloading as set up by Admin. And all those that Admin can do to prevent the kids from. To the online games, the bill for the internet is too high because of online playing, watching movies, surfing the web each after each.

I have a new Compaq Presario M2105US with XP sp2.My network includes 2 iBooks with airport cards, the Compaq Presario and a Desktop Mac with enthernet connection to my Linksys WRT54G v.3 wireless router. I've got TimeWarner broadband.I can easily connect to the Internet through the Linksys router with all computers. However the Compaq will eventually lose the connection to the Internet (though not to the router) after several hours of inactivity. But only after several hours (perhaps 4 hours or more, but not less than 3 hours). If I use the computer in the evening for example and take several breaks, everytime I come back to the computer and wake it from sleep, it will quickly re-establish the Internet connection. However if the computer is sleeping for hours, like overnight, and I wake it up, it appears to re-establish contact with the router because the network conneciton reports a connection with very good signal strength. But I can't access the Internet. Only by logging off and on again or by restarting can I regain internet connectivity.
