I keep getting the following message everytime I boot-up:- There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a diskharddisk3dr15. The only way I can get rid of it is to keep pressing the cancel button until it disappears. How do I remove it?

I have put a disk in the drive, highlighted the file, clicked on "send to", and I get the message: "Please insert a disk into Drive E (or F, whichever I happen to try it with)".The drives won't recognize that there is a blank CD. If I put in an audio CD or a DVD, it recognizes it, and plays it fine. It's just the blank ones that are giving me a problem. I have tried several different brands of CD . . . same result . . . Several times, especially today, I will drop the mapped drive connection, and I am unable to remote desktop to the machine. When I switch my monitor over to the machine, the default screen saver is up.I have had to reboot the machine the last couple of times to get reconnected.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI use Windows XP Professional OS on an Intel Pentium 4 PC with 512 MB RAM. Presently I have a single disk drive of 40 MB which has been divided into three logical drives C, D and E with total sizes of 20, 10 and 10 MB respectively.
I now want to add a second disk of 80 MB capacity and would like to increase the total size of the three existing logical drives to 40 MB each.Is there a feature available in Windows XP that will permit me to do this without having to reformat the existing 40 MB disk drive ?I have certain software installed in the PC for which the setup files are not available. Reformatting the existing disk drive will result in the loss of these applications. I would also not like to add more logical drives i.e. F, G, H etc.
If I go into Drive Management under My Computer, and I see two "disks" both in the bar for "Disk 1" does this mean that all of Disk 1 has been split into two partitions but is still one physical disk?

Every time I log on now I get a message that says ''low disk space'' When i right click MY COMPUTER the C drive shows only 14gb capacity and the D drive shows 226gb capacity. When I cancel, it pops up again anything from 3-8 times. I keep it on all the time. The last two mornings I have found the computer shut down. When I boot it up, it said, "Windows has recovered from a serious error." After sign-in, still having popups No Disk. Have checked disk, defragged, and am doing a clean disk. View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I reboot my computer I get the error message Disk Boot Failure, insert system disk and press enter. I do that and go to the recovery console. I have tried doing FIXMBR and/or FIXBOOT, which will get me into Windows, but the next time I reboot or turn off/on my computer I get the same message and have to go through the same steps to make it work. I'm not really sure what is causing the error message, and I dont know what to try to get the computer to boot up properly.

Tried a restore to last known good restore point... made no difference. Should I just do a restore using Windows Disc or is there possibly something more sinister going on here?

The computer justwill not boot at all., it gets to the ME Logo and th escreene just goes black. I can satrt it in safe mode, but i cannot restore it to an earlier date, no mater which date i choose, i just get the mnessage can not restore. I want to, reformat and install XP home, but the CD ROM does not show in my computer and it does not see the disk when i put it in. Also i tried to boot from a Woindows 98boot disk, and themn i get the message non system disk, replace and press any leter to continue.

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy computer MB took a dump so I bought a new system. I figured I just boot the new system using my old hard drive. No dice. So I boot the new system using the hard drive and OS that came with it and installed my old drive as a slave. When I try to access the documents and settings folder on the old hard drive so I can pull over the favorites, documents, etc. to my new drive it says access denied. The username and password on my new system are the as on the old one. Any ideas on how to get access to that folder?

After powering it it up it seems like it does not recognize that the hard drive is there so XP does not boot. No error message. It brings up a Boot Device menu screen with the options to boot from Floppy (does not have one), HardDisk (does not work), CD-ROM or PXE. Choosing HardDisk does not work.
In the BIOS screen the hard disk has the status: "Disable" and there does not seem to be a way to change that. In the BIOS boot sequence the hard disk appears as it should. I've tried reordering the sequence but it makes no difference
I'm trying to lock drive C but an error message comes up saying that the volume is in use.I don't understand MS-DOS at all.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHP ZT3000 was working fine. after no major changes, hard drive made a few noises and a missing hal.dll error message appeared. I have tried knoppix, for a few times I was copying files to external hard drive but the transfer stalled. I have tried fixmbr, fixboot, and copying the ntldr and ntdetec files from recovery cd. One strange thing is that the file system is now listed as fat16. Is this data recoverable? I have backed up the system on the external but it was about 2 weeks ago. I would like to recover a few emails in the outlook pst file. Is the hard drive fried or did the boot.ini file become terribly corrupt?
