Sep 30, 2005Every once in awhile I get a windows-no disk error even though I didnt use my cd/dvd the time before I logged on.

Tried a restore to last known good restore point... made no difference. Should I just do a restore using Windows Disc or is there possibly something more sinister going on here?

Grub Error Message While Booting From Fresh Hard Disk
Jun 4, 2008I have a P4 HT (old one) I formatted its hard disk using another comp to install a fresh copy of WinXP but the bootable XP is unable to start as there is a "GRUB" message that is last shown and then nothing happens.I have only 1 drive attached to this comp which is this one.it is running in a slave mode(doesn't matter as its the only default drive for the motherboard to read, and i have lost my jumper pin so thats y it is running in a slave mode.)What shd i do abt this "GRUB" message and how shd i go about installing WinXP ?

Dec 31, 2006my wife was trying to download pics from her memory card of her camera (sd card) to my computer so that she could burn the pics to a cd. My computer (Gateway GT5016H) has a slot to insert the memory card into the tower of the computer. She inserted the card, retrieved the pics and proceeded to burn them to a cd. When she was done, she shut down the computer.Now evertime i start the compuer i get an error message pop up "windows-no disk" "there is no disk in drive. Please insert disk into drive." Jan 8, 2007Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.

Apr 25, 2006I am running Win XP-SP2. I wiped my hard drive due to irresolvable software conflicts. I reinstalled XP-SP2, Office, Norton, the printer and scanner and my digital camera software package. All were updated and working perfectly until Sunday. I booted up the machine only to get a warning that says One of your disks may have errors let the computer reboot itself (which it will do repeatedly, stuck in a reboot loop) or you can hit any key to ignore this warning. You have only ten seconds to read all this and make a decision.
Once the computer boots up, everything seems to work as normal except for system restore. I tried to restore to the day after I reformatted and installed everything and all I get is an error saying Cannot restore to that point, please choose another point to restore tooor something to that effect.

When I close the box, i lose my desktop, and can't run a bunch of programs, including the "run" option. I am able to run my browsers and get on the web. Aug 15, 2008Last week i installed windows XP Pro on my desktop. It has a 250GB hard drive which has 1 partition (C drive only), NTFS offcourse. I did not format it while installing windows as it has lots of stuff in it. There's over 50GB free and i�ve been removing a lot of stuff from the hard drive to make up some space but in windows i get an error message that i don't have enough disk space, the disk cleanup utility runs cant free up space and i can not install or copy anything in the hard drive. I've noticed that when i deleted some file holding (or not) the shift key the free size goes lower although the files are being deleted from the hard disk.
