Msconfig Opens For A Short Time & Then Close After Moving Mouse?
Dec 1, 2005
Trying to go into msconfig and it is acting strange. I click start, run, msconfig, ok. The msconfig screen opens but as soon as I move my mouse the entire box just leaves the screen. Regedit is doing the same thing. Cannot find any information on this in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
In the past I've had problems with Internet Explorer closing abruptly after a couple minutes of having it open, I solved that problem by downloading Mozilla Firefox. But now I bought and installed WebEasy6 and after a few minutes of opening the program it abruptly closes and I lose my work. I have AOL Safety and Security Center and it tells me there is no known viruses or adware/spyware.
I just bought a rebuilt computer and already I have had the computer lock up and prevent my keyboard or mouse from operating at some point in the session. I am just about ready to take this to another computer repair shop and tell them to go through the system with a fine tooth comb and fix all the remnant problems. To make matters worse I cannot get the computer to boot if there is anything connected to the USB ports. Here is a look at my computer's profile from running Belarc Advisor.
I have had Windows XP for about five years. In the last six months my MS Works history gets deleted after a short period of time and I can't find any files that they would have been moved to. I have heard that this may have been caused by downloading an 'update' to MS Works. My other problem (which may be related) is that I cannot download the Microsoft service pack. It gets about 3/4 of the way through downloading updates and then shuts down because of 'registration errors'.
I believe I may have deleted something that is causing this.
Right, everything else works just fine on this computer, including loads of games, new and old, programs systerm etc.I have had problems with the Raptor drive but have had a replacement sent and installed ok I'm trying to run Need For Speed : Most Wanted : Black Edition.I can play just fine for anything from 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours then the sound loops, the display goes blank and the PC shuts off.I have re-installed windows, defragged the drives (took days), re-installed drivers, swapped hardware, played in 2000, 98, NT modes, turned off SLI (turned it back on again) just about everything i can think of.I have loads of other games but it's really frustrating me that i can't play this without it crashing the system.
the Help and Support service wasn't displaying, but I ran a registry fix to correct the problem. Now when I go to Start and click Help and Support Center, nothing happens. I opened up the task manager and what happens is the process "Helpctr.exe" appears, but then it disappears. I have reinstalled Help and Support several times from my Windows disk, but it keeps happening.
So i just got home from camping and a window is popped up on internet explorer saying things about "anti virus" well there was a red shield at the bottom of my browser where you can click to see what time it is and what day and such well i had never seen it there befor and it also turns blue, when i click on it it goes to this website "http://asecurityservice.com/" tryed blocking it and eveything but i cannot get rid of it also when rebooting it changed from the sheild to a yelloy triangle with a black ! in it and it flashes and will pop up a not about downloading an antivirus. i use firefox as my main browser and it seems ok but when i click the explorer one it goes to that website again???even after i set the default homepage to say google! here is a full hijack log
When i turn it on I get the 'Windows did not restart properly screen'and no matter which of the options I choose, i see the windows logo loading after a short time the blue screen apears for a split second and then its back to the first screen all over again.
iv gone into BIOS, i ran the HD self test, and both the short and long test fail before really even doing anything.
All of a sudden without making any changes my computer won't wake up when I move the mouse. I restored the computer to before it happened but it didn't help. Anybody got any ideas as to what the problem might be.
I start my computer in normal mode and it starts loading fine.when it gets to the desktop the mouse icon moves but it doesn't allow me to click on anything. No response from the keyboard.Ctrl – Alt-Del doesn't work.I think it gets hung up in the boot ( possibly loading drivers?)I have rebooted several times with the same results. Starting in Safe mode everything works OK. When starting in safe mode it lists various drivers as it progresses; I don't know how many there should be – or if this is any help because safe mode works OK.
I went to a LAN party so I unplugged all my cables from the pc. When arriving at the lan party I plugged everything back in and booted into Vista Ultimate. Everything was detected properly and I encountered no problems. But when I got home again I wanted to boot into Windows XP Pro and that's where the problems started.
My computer freezes up. No keyboard, mouse, ect. The mouse arrow disappears. I have to "power off" the computer to get things working. Now here is the strange thing, if i move the mouse around "quickly" the computer will work OK. This is on a new install of Windows XP + sp1. If I am moving the mouse slowing as in solitare the system will lock up in about 10 mn
I have windows xp and I noticed that my whole computer is been running kinda choppy.anything that has audio will skip, including music, aim sounds, videos, video games, anything in general.also my mouse moves choppy. It will pause for a second and then start moving again with no problem and then pause again. The mouse mainly moves choppy when I load up certain programs.
My mouse/pointer is STILL freezing after about 5 minutes of being logged on. I am using the touchpad mouse that is on my laptop. I have ran an updated version of Adaware6, Spybot, CWShredder & AVG Anti-Virus. I also have Spyware Blaster Protection enabled. I don't know what else to do but ask you guys if you see anything funny in my hijack log... Is it normal to have 4 entries stating info about my startup page? My start up page should be Ada County Sheriff, not Toshiba or Ebay
When I open Windows XP, the Windows Icon page comes up with a traveling bar on the bottom of the screen. This bar runs forty or fifty times before the computer actually brings up my desk screen. This seems to be an inordinate amount of time.
I have a programme on my pc now what is happening is i will be on the web and the programme opens up a web page how do i stop this from happening running xp home internet explorer.
Sometimes (but not always) when I click on the checkbox in the upper right to close Internet Explorer, it takes a long time to close the window--up to 3 minutes. During this time I can't get to my desktop by clicking on the "show desktop" icon on my toolbar either.
Using IE6, is there anyway I can stop a new web page opening up everytime I click on a link? For example, when i was browsing this forum, every different thread i clicked on opened a new window instead of just opening in the exisiting one.
each time i try to open a drive after opening my computer it opens into a new window. while this problem is only with D and E drive and not withC as well this problem is not present even while opening a folder..folder normally opens in same window...please help..
I am new to this website. I am intersted to see what kind of valuable feedback I can get for my current computer issue. I have 2 users set up on my Laptop PC. On my desktop, all programs function fine. On the other desktop for the other user, when a program is launched, it opens up as a blank program window. IE opens fine, but other programs such as McAfee and other certain Microsoft Office programs will open but not fully execute.
My mouse suddenly stopped to work after I restarted my computer. I turned my computer off to clean the dust in it and then I replugged everything back. Everything seems to work perfectly. But after 5 seconds my mouse stopped moving and it's stuck. I tried to plug it in a different USB and it detect and it work for another 5 seconds then it stops. I tried everything I could. I am on Windows XP by the way.
was wondering what all i need to look for as far as cleaning out my system......not sure what to keep or what to delete problems are lapse in time from clicking mouse like watching a surv. camera or weather camera. lots of page can not be displayed and slow loading pages i have windows xp and have cebridge broadband.
My mouse keeps hanging up and clock loses time when not running in safe mode. Not just the mouse really, but nothing at all works. When I boot normally (not into safe mode), windows can take forever to load due to this. On last boot my clock lost 10 out of 15 minutes uptime and I had to manually power off even then. I am running Windows XP Service pack 2 on a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ system with 1214 mb mem 150 gig hdd.
Long time since I posted for help but right now I have the Windows Explorer message Winows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience. in the middle of my screen It appears on boot and remains there .If I click close ,the desktop icons disappear and reappear and the message also reappears several seconds later,In those few seconds things seem to operate normally but after it appears, things on the screen just blink once when I click on them and nothing else happens. If I click something , and then click close on the message, it clears the desktop and reappears the previous click is then executed and the lockup is back .I can do things one at a time by repeating this closing process and the application on the screen does not close but reappears also
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.
Just wondering if anyone know a good doc/list/page listing all the shortcut keys default built into Windows XP? I tried looking it up in help, but it only gave a couple and by no means was all of them
My computer keeps rebooting every time i try to open folders with .avi and .mpeg files. It says that DEP is causing it but I disbabled it and I still can't open any folders, please give me any suggestions short of formatting the computer
I've surfed the forums but none of the problems seemed to hit on exactaly what i have.1st problem is that startup and shutdown each take about half and hour to go through (if at all).2nd Is the most reliable method of making the problem happen....loading a new webpage (like one I have never been to) this is when the computer seems to freeze, but not all the way, I still have perfect control of the mouse, and the clicks still go through but only after it seems to catch itself....And other times it doesnt take any provication to make it do this.3rd If this counts is that whenever it does this lockup thing, a small noise comes from the computer, like almost a beep, but not from any speakers, cant really explain it (its not from the case speaker either) Remindes me of a hard drive noise....kinda, but not normal HD.
