Jun 15, 2005I have installed a MS Fingerprint reader so I would stop having to type in usernames and passwords to all different sorts of web sites. The fingerprinter work - except that it seems that it scans my finger as soon as I put it on the pad (I hear the sound confirmation beep) - but then it takes like 7 - 15 seconds beofre it actuallly populates the web username and password, and then submit button. I can type in the username and password faster than using the fingerprint reader?

Mar 1, 2007when using the fingerprint scanner on a network with pasword changes every 90days, does the fingerprint scanner on a lenovo laptop synch properly with a newly updated password? I have a user here who changed the password but the fingerprint scanner did not seem to recognize the change since when you first set it up it asks for your current password. Once setup correctly all you have to do is scan your fingerprint and it logs you in.

Character Map Not Working With Alt+172 Method
Feb 26, 2007I have been using an XP machine for 3 years now. I have always used the character map to use special characters such as the squared symbol in almost every application that accepts input, i.e, notepad, wordpad, OutLook Xpress and many others. Up until about a week ago, I have not been able to key in the ubiquitous alt+0178 to get the character I want. It comes out as another character or just a bunch of dots. I have not; to he best of my knowledge, changend anything, ans also it is my production machine, so there are no others or kids on it at all. However, I am able to open character map and selcet, copy and paste it into my document. Way too many steps obviously.

Jul 21, 2007I had done a couple of reboots yesterday to install a couple of USB devices and then needed to uninstall a printer and then reinstall it. I did another reboot and my XP Pro system with an Intel Dual core 2.4 Ghz machine only displays the first DOS screen, the one with the F button functions at the bottom of the screen. No matter which F buttons I try, it will not show me a boot screen or anything else. I just sits there and is frozen. I even tried rebooting with my XP CD in the drive and it wouldn't recognize or react to that either. What could have gone wrong? More importantly what other emergency boot methods are available?

I tried aborting random processes that I thought might have something to do with the file, as well as restarting. No matter what I do, there seems to be something using the file. This applies to programs, icons, photos, documents , folders etc - I cannot get to any of my work to back it up. I have tried Stinger -F-Force and W32.Blackmal@mm Removal Tools. Ran a full AVG scan with uptodate anti virus and Adaware Spyware. Sorry forgot to mention other things tried. The Pop up message does not appear in the Task Manger either as applications or processes. Each time you respongd NO to negate the delete it pops up again. There is no way I can get to any of my folders or files to burn to a CD as backup without the Confirm Delete message.
