Keyboard/Fingerprint Reader Unable To Register Fingerprints
Apr 9, 2005The reader is lighted up. It flashes when a finger is placed on the scanner.But, it never scans.
What could be wrong?

Set Fingerprint Reader For Every Website?
May 21, 2005I just bought the MS Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader. It works fine logging into Windows XP. But, it's supposed to work for visiting Web sites that require login. And, it doesn't. I can't even get it set up
for any website I've gone to yet.

Jun 15, 2005I have installed a MS Fingerprint reader so I would stop having to type in usernames and passwords to all different sorts of web sites. The fingerprinter work - except that it seems that it scans my finger as soon as I put it on the pad (I hear the sound confirmation beep) - but then it takes like 7 - 15 seconds beofre it actuallly populates the web username and password, and then submit button. I can type in the username and password faster than using the fingerprint reader?

Jan 2, 2005I'm sure I am overlooking something obvious, but numerous recent problems with my system seem to be (hopefully) tied to the same source.I just don't know what it is.I am running windows XP home, service pack one (I have recently reverted back from SP2 thinking it may be the cause of the problems)
1) Any and all telnet type programs refusing to connect to any host (telnet, zmud, gmud, etc) In the case of zmud I can observe that my computer is in no way interfacing with another machine. telnet error is 'unable to contact host machine'
2) Windows media player (version 10) is unable to retrieve album info. Instead I immediately get a standard IE 'page cannot be displayed' screen.
3) Unable to register for many programs such as Gracenote. In the case of gracenote I recieve a 'socket open failed' error message.I am not currently running any firewall.
I only hae a 56k internet connection, so the instantaneous negative connection responses many of my programs display make it fairly obvious that this is a problem with my machine. I hope it is some silly xp setting I need to change.
Unable To Register
Jul 4, 2010so i just installed windows XP after getting a new hard drive and mother board. It wont let me register it. When i boot up and go to my desktop a few seconds later it say you have 30 days to activate windows. so i click on it and it asks if i want to register windows over the internet, so i click next, then it asks if i want to register with microsoft or something like that so i clink no. then it says "checking for connectivity" and then it says "you were unable to connect to the server" or something like that "Please make sure you are able to connect to the internet". Im able to use fire fox and google crome.

Apr 5, 2008I installed adobe reader 8.1. Since then I haven't been able to shut down computer the right way. When I go to start then click on turn off computer the shut down box never comes up. I end up having to push the power button to turn it off. I know this will eventually do harm is there anything I can do besides reformatting. I have all the disk to reformat, but would rather not if I can get this fixed.My hard drive crashed last year, it was an 80 gig, I replaced it with a 300 gig. Haven't had any problems until last week after I downloaded adobe.

Jun 2, 2010I was recently given a dell optiplex gx260 pc, which is practically unusable due to malware and viruses on it. i am intending to do a clean reinstall of windows xp on it. However the only keyboard i have is usb, and although it seems to work when it asks me to press f2 to go to setup, it does not work when I get the "press any key to boot from CD..." prompt, so i have no way to go to the windows setup screen. If i disable the hard disk and let it default to start from cd i can go into the windows setup screen and the keyboard works to set the options on that, but of course it wont work because it cant detect the disk drive. I have no way to get a regular non usb (ps2?) keyboard other than buying one, which i dont want to do just so i can press one button.

I can't get any updates. I ran housecall and it came up with 5 pages of windows and explorer problems. Mar 1, 2007when using the fingerprint scanner on a network with pasword changes every 90days, does the fingerprint scanner on a lenovo laptop synch properly with a newly updated password? I have a user here who changed the password but the fingerprint scanner did not seem to recognize the change since when you first set it up it asks for your current password. Once setup correctly all you have to do is scan your fingerprint and it logs you in.

I'm using one batch file (*.bat) to do this task (unregister the old version and registering the new version). When run this bat file after, few minutes ( i don't know all the files are registered). the system getting shuttdown. I tried the same work using windows API functions also.But the same(using regsvr32, Windows API) work well in the other operating systems (Windows 2000 prof). what will be problem? or is there any other better way to register the dlls?

It worked to an extent Some, in fact the majority of files were recovered. May 10, 2008I just finished assembling my new build. It boots and I can get to the BIOS. I even have it booting from the DVD drive so I can load Win XP.However, when I get to the Windows Setup and it asks me if I want to setup windows(press enter), Repair(some other key), quit(F3) my keyboard won't work. I hit "Enter" because I want to install XP and nothing happens. It is not responding to my keyboard strokes.
This is strange because the keyboard works in the BIOS.

When I tried to install .8 I got a message that read: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can acces it." So was going to just remove Adobe 7.05 in Add/Remove and got the same message. Went to C:program files and got the same message. I can't get Adobe off my computer. I really need help. The 7.0.5 won't open anything, get the same message. I don't know where the source file would be if it isn't in C:program files.
