i have an XP SP2 pro OS. A couple of days ago i updated it and now a prob surfed with this KB925902 when i tried to install the Vista transformation pack V7. it also gave me a link to a thread in a forum where they discuss how to fix this problem through hacking a dll something. Dont know if any of you guys know about it or had encountered it before. anyways, i didnt save this tut, and now that i wanted to do something about this prob i tried to visit this thread again, but i am faced with a prob. The internet explorer will have to close everytime i go to this thread. Why you guys? so far its only on this link.
what should i do to fix this prob? i did follow a few links here and there on forums and finally i installed the XP-KB935448-X86-ENU.exe which is supposed to sort this prob out (well at least that is what i understood). The prob is still out there. When i tried to un-install this KB925902, a message popped out and said something in the lines of "other KBs and applications might not work properly if you delete / un-install this item". So i halted the remove process, and found my way to here.
Is it safe to delete the hotfix uninstallers through ccleaner? I did a google search and people were talking about ccleaner deleting a folder that shouldn't be deleted along with the hotfix uninstallers when the option to do so is ticked. Is there a better - safer - way to do this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a very large, corrupt disc image on my hard drive that I want to delete, but every time I try to delete it Windows displays the message "Cannot delete 'filename': it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." The disc image is not mounted with any program, and hasn't been for some time. I tried aborting random processes that I thought might have something to do with the file, as well as restarting. No matter what I do, there seems to be something using the file. Are there any tricks to getting around this so I can delete it? Can I check, somehow, to see what program is using it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up whether in SAFE Mode or Normal I automatically get the Confirm Delete Message. This applies to programs, icons, photos, documents , folders etc - I cannot get to any of my work to back it up. I have tried Stinger -F-Force and W32.Blackmal@mm Removal Tools. Ran a full AVG scan with uptodate anti virus and Adaware Spyware. Sorry forgot to mention other things tried. The Pop up message does not appear in the Task Manger either as applications or processes. Each time you respongd NO to negate the delete it pops up again. There is no way I can get to any of my folders or files to burn to a CD as backup without the Confirm Delete message.

The files and folders that I am addressing are: C:WINDOWSTEMP*.* *.OLD *.CHK *.BAK ~*.* _*.* and MSCREATE.DIRI have managed to clean all but one, which is _*.* When I run the search, I get the result of 144 files. I click on edit, select all, then file, delete. I receive the following error "cannot delete file: Cannot read the source file or disk" (please view screen shot). When I right click, I have no delete option, just "open containing folder, copy, and extract. (please view screen shot). I have run AdAware, Spybot, Ewido, and Avg Free. I also have CCleaner, Easy Clean which I have run. I have also used "Move On Boot" by putting the file path in the MOB window and try to have MOB delete the file. MOB says the file will be removed on the next boot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf anyone else was wondering how to get rid of the annoying Screen Savers that Microsoft feels you have to have with XP they made it a little more difficult than normal.
1. First navigate to “C:windowssystem32dllcache”. Cut and paste or type in your address bar to get there because it is a hidden folder. Once there, delete the Screen Savers in that folder. Otherwise, you will find that they will come back no matter how many times you delete them from your system 32 folder.
2. Then you have to go to C: Windowssystem32 and delete the Screen Savers you want to get rid of . (Answer the file protection popups with cancel and yes.)
3. Voila- no more Screen Savers!
Through out the day, I have my computer on. Many times... whether I am using the computer at that moment, or if I leave and come back later... my screen will be frozen. The mouse moves, but nothing on the screen can be clicked. Also, control alt delete works as well, so I have found that if I go into the applications tab and open a new task and open/refresh "explorer" everything will start working again.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to get rid of the annoying Screen Savers that Microsoft feels you have to have with XP they made it a little more difficult than normal.
1. First delete the screen savers you want to get rid of in either C:Windowssystem32dllcache or depending on if or how you installed the Service Pack(s) also in C:WindowsServicePackFilesi386. (To see these folders you must have "Show hidden files and folders" checked and "Hide protected operating system files" unchecked in Folder Options > View .)
2. Delete the screen savers in C:Windowssystem32 (always assuming your XP is installed in C:Windows). If you have omitted step 1. Windows file protection will replace the files within seconds. Voila---no more Screen Savers!
I just came back from vacation and turned on my other computer only to find that right after it flashed the "Dell" screen, it showed a blank screen with random letters/numbers flashing in green. It just freezes there.
It's possible that someone else was on it and may have messed it up but I'm not sure. I'm hoping its still salvageable.
every now and again when i click on something on my screen the screen freezes and the only way i can get out of the problem is to ctrl/alt/delete fetch up
