View 4 RepliesI have a Toshiba Satellite A105. Just one day the audio starting to "stuttering". When any software that is using audio "sound, speech, games, music" even just XP. I have updated all the drivers. I have deleted and reinstalled : Windows Media Player 11, Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X, and RealTex High def audio driver. I could not find any virus or spyware.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm running a custom built pc with windows xp home sp2, amd sempron processor 3300+ 2ghz, 10/08/2005-sis-760-6a7i7fkac-00 motherboard (according to aida32), 512mb ram. often, when i play an audio or video file, it plays perfectly well for a while (ranging from a few seconds to several minutes) and then audio is completely lost (also Internet videos only will play for 2 seconds after this happens). at first i thought that maybe it was a software problem, but it still occurs with each multimedia application i have. the sound returns on a reboot, but the problem still occurs all the time. any ideas about how to solve this?
also, on a slightly unrelated note, the pc also sometimes freezes; usually when several applications are running, bit it has been known to happen when barely anything is open. strangely, the cursor will not move, but remains on screen for a few seconds and then disappears completely. is this due to a lack of ram, or is there another way to solve this?i hope i have provided enough information.
Was just wondering if anyone would know my when I play my MP3's that the playback is skippy like. Like, its not static or garbled, Just like a CD when it skips. Streaming audio or any other audio is like MP3 playback. Why is this??
View 6 Replies View Relatedi recently just got this problem, umm the first thing i started to notice was my startup becoming extreamly slow, at that point i thought there was a problem, so when i finally got through the startup, i move my mouse around and like every few seconds it would skip, so basically you move it and then 3 seconds later it skips so you basically see a lag spike or something. it continues for awhile and then stops like maybe 10 min later. but then starts again everytime i open a program ex: counter strike, Azureus, microsoft word.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI posted a little bit back with a question about reinstalling XP; it turned out to be a bad mainboard, so. Coming back with new mainboard and everything in fact, this used to be my dad's computer with my harddrive in place of his and I'm still having problems.Namely, this weird system flutter.When I'm playing music, it sort of stutters, when I'm typing, the cursor stops and the type stops appearing for a second. I've been keeping an eye on the CPU usage in Task Manager and as far as I can tell, it doesn't have anything to do with that, and I've tried turning off the music, but I think it's still happening.It's harder to tell without the music skipping but I'm pretty sure it's done it once while I was typing this.My dad is also infamous for screwing with CPU speeds and whatnot, so it could be something along those lines.

The shortcuts in the My Places bar are convenient but they could be be more convenient if I could replace one or more of them with a folder that I choose.
Is there way to do that
Here's how to change the 5 shortcuts you see on the left when you do a "Save As..." The default save as places are : Recent Documents / Desktop / Documents / My Computer / My Network Places To put your own shortcuts there, do this :
Click on the Start button.Select and click on Run next, type gpedit.msc and click on OK Under "Local Computer Policy", expand the navigation tree following the directions below.
My windowsXPpro has hung and given me a blue screen and it says smth like: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent any damage to your computer. "If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart i'm not too sure what the message is as my laptop will have restarted before i even get to read finish the screen.i knw this isn't helping much but until it happens again, i can't provide more information.
After restarting, it'll go into scandisk as normal after a crash. however, it will then scan VERY slowly until about 56% where it will hang. i think there is a last message but as it took me many MANY tries restarting and skipping scandisk

I installed a trial version of Diskeeper (DK) two months ago� used the program with good results, let it expire, & eventually uninstalled it
When I turn on my computer, before the login screen a blue screen comes up that says:
"OODBS Program not found - skipping autocheck"
Then It goes to the login screen and It works fine. How do I remove this error?

I don't get Audio when I play a DVD. Audio works otherwise.All the sounds one would expect. But nothing from a DVD.
I tried playing with the digital audio settings for each of the DVD drives
I just got a new computer with an AMD Duron processor, 512 M RAM and Windows XP. Only problem is I've got no audio. I've checked BIOS and sound is enabled but Windows doesn't seem to recognize that the speakers are hooked up. When I tried to play system sounds from the Control Panel, I got an error message that said cannot play sound, your sound card may be in use. The computer was a gift that was bought used and the shop didn't have any documentation with the system. I think this might be a driver issue but I'm not sure how to find out which driver to try.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled my OS and all my software, shortly thereafter I noticed I had an issue where any sound that was coming through my headphones was being retransmitted through the mic, with further testing I found that this was not actually the case but rather any sound that would be output is being retransmitted as audio in, even if I had no speakers, headphones or mics connected. I have looked at and experimented with everything I could in every sound settings.
I have tried updated drivers, the only way for me to stop the issue from occurring is to mute the mic in the recording control, but that stops me from using the mic altogether. I need to be able to use my mic without recording anything that I am hearing as well.
First off I use windows XP with the latest service pack. I'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard Asus striker II extreme.
The volume of my flash player (I first noticed it when trying to view a video on Hulu) but other flash embedded videos won't play sound either. I thought this was a flash problem, and tried the usual fixes uninstalling reinstalling, running the update utility and removing and reinstalling the plugin. Also it likely isn't a browser issue as embedded videos didn't play on either Firefox or Opera.
After restarting my computer after a few uninstalls I noticed my startup music wasn't playing as well. I'm thinking that it might be some registry error as it seems like the music is very quiet instead of muted, and all of the volume levels in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties menu are at the correct levels, and my other media players play music and movies just fine.
I've browsed the forums and haven't seen anyone with a similar problem or a fix, so any help would be greatly apprciated.
After hardware upgrades, my custom XP Professional audio workstation will not allow me to re-install my Digigram VX-442 audio card driver or on-board audio.
Error message is: Cannot install this hardware.The data is invalid.

When I turned it back on this morning, I got a message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem". I followed some advise online which told me to use the recovery option using my win xp cd. When I rebooted it seemed to work ok but then came another message, "Autochk program not found- skipping Autocheck" then it reboots. It keeps doing this over and over again. I found some more advise online which told me to copy the program from my win xp cd to the harddrive using the recovery option.
