which started by sound crackling and then followed by cpu used up to 50 percent on a core duo2 processor which also makes disables my ,mouse temporarily but if i move the mouse on a highlighted icon it registers the mouse bieng on the icon but no pointer apears to be present it will then come back after 5secs.this hapens when i use windows media player and firefox also it hapens often,how can i fix this?
View 14 RepliesI have windows xp and I noticed that my whole computer is been running kinda choppy.anything that has audio will skip,including music,aim sounds,videos,video games,anything in general.also my mouse moves choppy.It will pause for a second and then start moving again with no problem and then pause again.The mouse mainly moves choppy when I load up certain programs.

They started before I started cleaning the malware out and its really bothering me. I play WoW and its effecting that to, where my fps would go from 22 to 2 then back to 22. It does it while I'm doing everything now even typing this.I don't know what information you would need so let me know and I will tell you.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI found that one of the svchost.exe processes is repeatedly spiking the cpu to nearly 100% at about 10-second intervals. Digging further, the culprit is the "DHCP Client" service. I can stop the service and the spikes stop, too. When I restart the "DHCP Client" service, the spikes return. I don't notice these spikes on two other systems that I have access to. Any ideas as to what that service is doing? Any system and/or network settings that would cause this behavior? (XP Pro SP3 in an NT Domain.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out what's causing a CPU spike approx. every 5 seconds on my laptop running on windows xp sp3. The spike is generally around 25-30%. I'm using process explorer and see that services.exe is the process. Drilling down into this I see 3 TIDs that repeatedly spike every 5 seconds. All 3 are 'kernel32.dll!Create Thread+0x22'. When I drill down and display the stack for each of these threads I see various lists which don't mean anything to me. It always seems to end with 'kernel32.dll!GetModuleFileNameA+0x1ba'.
I'm assuming I installed or configured something at some point in time and my laptop is trying to reach something or do something that's no longer valid. Can someone help me with the next step of determining what's the cause of this spike? When I boot into safe mode this spike is not present. I've done extensive scans of my laptop for any malware and nothing is detected and I see no evidence of any ill side effects other than the continual spike every 5 seconds.
I have what I believe is a fairly unusual problem. I am running WIndows XP. Whenever I access the MY MUSIC folder on my PC lately, explorer.exe spikes my CPU and causes my PC to run like crap. My CPU runs at 100% until i do one of two things: End the explorer.exe process in the task manager (but then i obviously have no way to control WIndows), or if I shut down the MY MUSIC folder, and wait 5-10 minutes, explorer.exe slows down. It is currenty running at 100% as i write this. Yes I download music legally, and yes I get some ambitious movies once in a while. But this problem started happening when I downloaded Service Pack 2. I could not even use the MY MUSIC folder
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've looked at over 20 related forums on this site, all which haven't solved my problem. All I found useful was the turn off auto update trick that seemed to have brought my minimum usage down from 15 to 0-5.My computer reports free of malware, spyware, and viruses. I use Norton Antivirus, Spybot, Adaware, Panda Activescan, and AVG Anti spyware and have no processes running.When CPU spikes, only possible associated programs are services.exe and svchost.exe, but they only go to 20 at most. System idle process reports normal at 98-99. I'm using Sensors View Pro, which tells me my CPU isn't overheating because it stays at a consistent 3 degrees Celsius. I tried resetting the BIOS, that didn't work. I checked the IDE controllers in device manager to see if they had the correct transfer modes, which they did. I tried updating my MOBO drivers. I can't think of anything else I've tried at the moment.
The biggest thing that stumps me is that my computer isn't sluggish until I start gaming. I only play Battlefield 2, which doesn't require much resources to play and only sucks up about 400 mb of memory. The thing that aggravates me is when my Frames per second average between 10 and 25 and everything gets really REALLY slow. At first I just thought is was a problem with my gaming, but then I realized the bigger problem that my CPU jumps up and down like a heart monitor. I've attached my HiJack this log just in case
I really appreciate it if anyone can assist in solving my problem. I've really done a lot of research not just on this website and results are still inconclusive obviously. It's driving me crazy because I feel like I've tried everything so I feel it must be a hardware issue and then I don't know why it would be...GOSH! Was just wondering if anyone would know my when I play my MP3's that the playback is skippy like. Like, its not static or garbled, Just like a CD when it skips. Streaming audio or any other audio is like MP3 playback. Why is this??

I have updated all the drivers. I have deleted and reinstalled : Windows Media Player 11, Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X, and RealTex High def audio driver. I could not find any virus or spyware.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi recently just got this problem, umm the first thing i started to notice was my startup becoming extreamly slow, at that point i thought there was a problem, so when i finally got through the startup, i move my mouse around and like every few seconds it would skip, so basically you move it and then 3 seconds later it skips so you basically see a lag spike or something. it continues for awhile and then stops like maybe 10 min later. but then starts again everytime i open a program ex: counter strike, Azureus, microsoft word.

Coming back with new mainboard and everything in fact, this used to be my dad's computer with my harddrive in place of his and I'm still having problems.Namely, this weird system flutter.When I'm playing music, it sort of stutters, when I'm typing, the cursor stops and the type stops appearing for a second. I've been keeping an eye on the CPU usage in Task Manager and as far as I can tell, it doesn't have anything to do with that, and I've tried turning off the music, but I think it's still happening.It's harder to tell without the music skipping but I'm pretty sure it's done it once while I was typing this.My dad is also infamous for screwing with CPU speeds and whatnot, so it could be something along those lines.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy windowsXPpro has hung and given me a blue screen and it says smth like: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent any damage to your computer. "If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart i'm not too sure what the message is as my laptop will have restarted before i even get to read finish the screen.i knw this isn't helping much but until it happens again, i can't provide more information.
After restarting, it'll go into scandisk as normal after a crash. however, it will then scan VERY slowly until about 56% where it will hang. i think there is a last message but as it took me many MANY tries restarting and skipping scandisk

When I turn on my computer, before the login screen a blue screen comes up that says:

Then It goes to the login screen and It works fine. How do I remove this error?

I seemed to have run into a problem. I'm running xp pro w/ sp2. I usually keep my computer on all the time but yesterday I turned it off. When I turned it back on this morning, I got a message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem". I followed some advise online which told me to use the recovery option using my win xp cd. When I rebooted it seemed to work ok but then came another message, "Autochk program not found- skipping Autocheck" then it reboots. It keeps doing this over and over again. I found some more advise online which told me to copy the program from my win xp cd to the harddrive using the recovery option.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to log on to the internet (dial-up). The dialer panel came up, I hit dial, and it closed. I tried again with the same result. I restarted hoping it woud fix it. It got the the Windows XP loading screen, then went to a light blue screen w/ dark blue bars at the top and bottom (the new bsod) and displayed two messages that said the same thing: autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK After about five seconds the computer reboots and repeats the process.
After the BIOS boot and before the Windows XP load screen, there is a recovery option. I tried this and got into the Gateway System Recovery. It says "Starting Recovery..." with a progress bar and then goes to this BSOD: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. At this point the screen just stays there and the computer responds to nothing but the power button.
I have a gateway laptop. about 6 months ago i was listening to music through my itunes and the songs starting skipping and the comp froze. I tried to do ctrl alt delte and couldnt so i had to shutdown by just holding the power button. The computer was also really hot when this happened. Since then I have not been able to get the computer to work. It will start about and give me the option of how i would like to start (in safe mode or regular) and no matter which option i pick it will go to the loading screen for windows xp and just sit there with the progress bar going for hours or until the comptuer dies. It never gets past this point or gives me any kind of errors.

Everything else is working fine, good audio for all playbacks.I don't have a system speaker attached to the motherboard. I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.

I finally got my internet up and I began to play Counter-strike. The sound sometimes messes up. I can hear other peoples shots just fine, but when I shot, it is almost silent.
This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?
When i start my pc skype says that he hasn't found recording hardware. Itunes doesn't work, like Windows Media Player, Winamp etc. The sound is gone. I tried to fix it myself, cause i disabled a driver that seemed to have a problem, but i don't remember what the name was. Now not only the programs have no sound anymore, but windows is silent too. It sure wasn't the driver of my sound card. I installed Everest and he doesn't find any Windows Audio, and says the realtek has "noDB". When i am in the music tab of the "Diagnostic help program for DirectX" "windows synthesizer" test sound doesn't play, but the realtek does.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.
