Jan 22, 2010Hello, when I start up my loptap, I get this message (autoprogram no found skipping autocheck)and then nothing comes on the screen. It looks like it turns off by it self.

Mar 13, 2005I seemed to have run into a problem. I'm running xp pro w/ sp2. I usually keep my computer on all the time but yesterday I turned it off. When I turned it back on this morning, I got a message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem". I followed some advise online which told me to use the recovery option using my win xp cd. When I rebooted it seemed to work ok but then came another message, "Autochk program not found- skipping Autocheck" then it reboots. It keeps doing this over and over again. I found some more advise online which told me to copy the program from my win xp cd to the harddrive using the recovery option.

May 20, 2008I tried to log on to the internet (dial-up). The dialer panel came up, I hit dial, and it closed. I tried again with the same result. I restarted hoping it woud fix it. It got the the Windows XP loading screen, then went to a light blue screen w/ dark blue bars at the top and bottom (the new bsod) and displayed two messages that said the same thing: autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK After about five seconds the computer reboots and repeats the process.
After the BIOS boot and before the Windows XP load screen, there is a recovery option. I tried this and got into the Gateway System Recovery. It says "Starting Recovery..." with a progress bar and then goes to this BSOD: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. At this point the screen just stays there and the computer responds to nothing but the power button.
Screwed Up My - Autocheck Not Found
Oct 4, 2008I recently screwed up my computer by running a crappy reg-edit program which deleted a bunch of important registry and I started to get messages asking me to insert XP SP3 CD to install the files but I didnt have one so I tried rebooting. Upon rebooting I got a black screen saying "ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted please reinstall ntoskrn.exe" In my panic state I used my XP recovery disks but they just installed another version of windows on my HD. So I used my XP install CD to get into the recovery console and I copied over the files from the CD to my HD.

Aug 27, 2007my computer has been operating very slowly lately, and my computer protection software (Defender Pro 5 in 1) detected an apparently infected driver. The notification said that the driver was infected by an email virus and it recommended deleting the driver. Thinking that it couldn't cause much harm, I took the recommendation and deleted the driver. The next time I started my computer, it seemed to boot normally: it showed the normal XP home edition loading screen, then it showed the blue screen of death! Only if it detects that the dirty bit has been set on a partition (indicating an abnormal shutdown of the system OR that the file system has detected an inconsistency during normal operation and automatically scheduled chkdsk to run) will it actually run CHKDSK on the indicated partitions. Chkdsk as run by Autocheck does not do as comprehensive a repair as chkdsk /r.PerfectDisk is first in the bootexecute list. When the system boots, here's what happens:- PD's boot time defrag code runs.- It looks to see if it is even supposed to run. If not, it exits.- It checks to see if the dirty bit has been set - if so, it exits to let CHKDSK run.

provided some good info however generally the point is being missed. You cannot get into the registry to modify any autochk values.
MP3 Playback Is Skipping

Oct 16, 2006I posted a little bit back with a question about reinstalling XP; it turned out to be a bad mainboard, so. Coming back with new mainboard and everything in fact, this used to be my dad's computer with my harddrive in place of his and I'm still having problems.Namely, this weird system flutter.When I'm playing music, it sort of stutters, when I'm typing, the cursor stops and the type stops appearing for a second. I've been keeping an eye on the CPU usage in Task Manager and as far as I can tell, it doesn't have anything to do with that, and I've tried turning off the music, but I think it's still happening.It's harder to tell without the music skipping but I'm pretty sure it's done it once while I was typing this.My dad is also infamous for screwing with CPU speeds and whatnot, so it could be something along those lines.

Apr 14, 2005My windowsXPpro has hung and given me a blue screen and it says smth like: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent any damage to your computer. "If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart i'm not too sure what the message is as my laptop will have restarted before i even get to read finish the screen.i knw this isn't helping much but until it happens again, i can't provide more information.
After restarting, it'll go into scandisk as normal after a crash. however, it will then scan VERY slowly until about 56% where it will hang. i think there is a last message but as it took me many MANY tries restarting and skipping scandisk
Computer Sound Skipping / Mouse Moving Choppy?
Aug 21, 2007I have windows xp and I noticed that my whole computer is been running kinda choppy.anything that has audio will skip,including music,aim sounds,videos,video games,anything in general.also my mouse moves choppy.It will pause for a second and then start moving again with no problem and then pause again.The mouse mainly moves choppy when I load up certain programs.

Oct 28, 2009I have a gateway laptop. about 6 months ago i was listening to music through my itunes and the songs starting skipping and the comp froze. I tried to do ctrl alt delte and couldnt so i had to shutdown by just holding the power button. The computer was also really hot when this happened. Since then I have not been able to get the computer to work. It will start about and give me the option of how i would like to start (in safe mode or regular) and no matter which option i pick it will go to the loading screen for windows xp and just sit there with the progress bar going for hours or until the comptuer dies. It never gets past this point or gives me any kind of errors.

After some googling I think there is something to do with a RAID driver?!! The motherboard is an ASUS K8V-MX and I dont have the disc!! So I've been on their website and downloaded the appropriate raid driver... so I started the re-boot with xp disc in, then pressed F6 as instructed and now I am lost... how do i get the driver files on the disc into the system?

Jan 1, 2008I just installed XP on my new rig; I then put in the motherboard CD and got that all installed. However, when trying to install the USB 2.0 drivers a text message comes up saying that I don't need to install the drivers if I have XP SP2.My problem is that when I try to put in ANY usb device windows does not detect it, so I cannot use my printer or external hard drive.Anyone know what's wrong? Is it a BIOS problem? Or do I have to find the drivers somewhere? Or are my USB things broken?
