MFC42U.dll was not found. Search of computer reveals file not on computer. Google found many advertising free download but when visiting sites want you to download a scan for dll issues and many want a fee.Very leery of these sites.
When starting up my Dell computer, running Microsoft XP, I get an error every time I start up. I'm just not sure what this error is - I have been having performance issues with the computer lately and am not sure if this error is related. The error says: CoreFoundation.dll was not found.
My brother has given me his old PC and I was planing to do a complete re-installation... so after a few attempts I keptr getting loads of error messages! So I thought it was the HDD... which I completely wiped... Now I boot up with my SP3 disc and it starts to load and then I get " set up did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer"

I just installed XP on my new rig; I then put in the motherboard CD and got that all installed. However, when trying to install the USB 2.0 drivers a text message comes up saying that I don't need to install the drivers if I have XP SP2.My problem is that when I try to put in ANY usb device windows does not detect it, so I cannot use my printer or external hard drive.Anyone know what's wrong? Is it a BIOS problem? Or do I have to find the drivers somewhere? Or are my USB things broken?

I turned my laptop on (and had done nothing special with it the day before) and everything looked as if I had just reinstalled Windows (default desktop appearance, default start menu.)I was able to log off from that account (which I never created to begin with) and log into my own account normally. And my computer has been doing the same thing ever since So I tried to delete that new account in the User Accounts menu, but the thing is after I log off from it, this account is no where to be found. The only way I am able to see it in the User Accounts menu is by switching user, not logging off (which disables me from deleting the account).I found out this way that it is an administrator account.
Ive got photoimpression installed a kind of video programme But now when I hit the shortcut a notice comes up the application failed because the editwin dll was not found.
strike f1 key to continue f2 to run setup utility." My niece just tried to boot her Windows XP Home desktop and got the above error. When she hits f1, it just says the same thing, f2 takes her into cmos. I remember reading somewhere that her boot.ini might be messed up and can't find her hard drive but for the life of me, I can't find the steps to figure this out. Can anyone help?
I found some windows xp tweaks that supposedly speed up xp on the following link, the ones I am referring to are the stickied threads. I think the Master Tutorial one is ok, but I am unsure about 10 ways to speed up xp.This is because I found this site (and also because the poster is a 13 year old, although many older people inlcuding admin and mods have posted and have not said anything about them being myths):So, is this second site reliable and correct? I have used CCleaner to do something with the prefetch, so should I use the download on this site?
Many people have a problem with the 'found new hardware' dialog popping up when there is no new hardware. I have a problem with it popping up when I DO add hardware but it shouldn't pop up.I am trying to install an i/o magic dvd burner when the 'fnh' dialog pops up and wants to install a driver. Problem is it is supposed to use a windows default driver and automatically install. That is what their tech support said and was of no further use.Same problem with an Ipaq pocketPC.Activesync should automatically recognize it when cradled but does not.A digital camera and keyboard that used to work fine on this computer some time ago now has the same issue.I think this is an XP issue and not hardware because all these devices work properly on another computer and I believe the usb ports are fine because I do have an external hd that works fine. The computer recognizes the device when plugged in-canon digital camera, logitech keyboard, usb 2.0 optical device- but fails to properly find or install the driver.
I have a usb 2.0 pc card and have the exact same behavior through that as with the built-in usb 1.1 ports and the pc card slots are definetely working properly because a wi-fi card works without issue.Device manager shows that usb ports and usb 2.0 adapter are working properly but whatever I plug in shows as a yellow ! and says it may not work (duh!)Please help. I can't handle many more 3:00 nights!
When I download files using ie the download window indicates the files are downloaded but they are not there. I've been able to see the files being deleted instantaneously after being downloaded.
clicks on the internet it states that the page could not be found, please go to internet options etc clear cookies. We do all this but it doesn't seem to work, the only thing that works is turning the machine off and restarting it. I rang Dell and Tiscali, neither have been able to help, the computer sends and recieves all 4 packets, they have disconnected the internet connection and reinstalled it, they said they were going to test the line and ring us back but this never happened. I am a complete novice with computers and my mum knows even less
My PC has suffered a virus attack despite running up to date Norton, Spybot & MooSoft's 'The Cleaner' anti trojan along with XP firewall. Norton reported that it had found Spy Sheriff but could not remove it. A Spybot scan found & claimed to have removed Spy Sheriff but I was still getting spurious warning messages & the system kept trying to connect to 'Antispylab' web site. I also noticed that my Norton autoprotect had been disabled & would not allow me to re-enable. I downloaded the trial version of Kaspersky anti virus which said that it had found & removed 22 dangerous objects.
I have an inspiron 1501, and when opening it this morning, get message that stated "operating system not found." It worked yesterday, I have trend micro as virus protection, although not sure if that information is pertinent or not.

A friend of mine had me take a look at her gateway solo 1450 because she said that when it booted she would get a message stating the OS was not found. I looked at it, and it has booted every time but once (30 different boots). The one time it didn't the BIOS did not recognize the hard drive as being present. Its a tough problem because its very hard to duplicate the error.
I have one HP Presario C700 with Windows Vista. All my family know on XP. When i try to install windows xp , i have one problem :no HDD found. The error is : Setup did not find any HDD installed in your computer. I am quite familiar with desktop hardware and some software issues, so this is quite a conundrum for me. My knowledge is usually regarding older desktops and OS Systems (stuff not using firewire, but IDE, for example)
1) Introduction: Basically, I purchased a newly refurbished laptop HP Compaq NX7400 on Friday. I had them deliver it with no software as it reduced its price and I don?t like vista yet. When I went to install an OS (XP PRO SP1) it gave me an error message as follows: Setup did not find any HDD installed in your computer.
Make sure any HDD are powered on and properly connected to your computer and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. etup can not continue. To quit setup press F3?
2) attempts to fix: A) I formatted and partitioned my hard drive using Western Digital?s Data Life Guard (DLG) it was an 80 GB hard drive. Okay so there is one there. But the odd thing was that it was registered as a BIOS hard drive? I am not sure on this?....
