Internet Page Could Not Be Found

clicks on the internet it states that the page could not be found, please go to internet options etc clear cookies. We do all this but it doesn't seem to work, the only thing that works is turning the machine off and restarting it. I rang Dell and Tiscali, neither have been able to help, the computer sends and recieves all 4 packets, they have disconnected the internet connection and reinstalled it, they said they were going to test the line and ring us back but this never happened. I am a complete novice with computers and my mum knows even less

I am running windows server 2003 and from a few days my internet explorer is not working whenever i open any website it redirect me to http://browser-security.microsoft.com/block.php?r=20.0 and shows a page not found error which comes when your net is not connected sometimes it loads only first page of any website and as soon as i click some link it again redirects to this url. can any one tell me what could be the problem and how to fix it i scanned system for spyware virus but found nothing.

Computer wouldn't boot to Windows, throwing error:Code: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:<Windows root>system32hal.dll.Please re-install a copy of the above file."Found generic instructions for help on the internet.Used recovery console to bootcfg /rebuild
That helped me boot up back into Windows, but as windows logs on I have an error "C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorDesktop" does not exist,it most certainly does exist) or something similar, obviously lagging the load of explorer.exe and resulting in a blank desktop other than default items.

my OS is XP home edition with the second service pack. My problem is that IE won't connect. I know i have an internet connection because i can use SBC Yahoo! Browser, and MSN Explorer. But when i open IE6 it comes up with this at the top of the page: The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Need a bit of help with a problem with internet explorer 6. The affect PC is windows Professional with Service Pack 2 installed. All internet protocols are correct, all settings are correct. I use Google as my home page and lately I been having intermittent problems with it. When I open my internet explorer, it says "Internet Explorer cannot display page". It's not my internet connect because if I type in an address other than my home page in the URL bar it will open. My AOL works too. After hitting the home button a few times, my home page, Google will open. But after awhile surfing the net, when I hit the home button, I get that message again that it can't display page. Right now as I type this, I hit the home page button and it says cannot display page so I hit the back arrow and I come back to this page and I can continue typing and I can send this thread. What's wrong with my home page "Google"?

Whenever i login and try to open Internet explorer or any internet browser on Windows XP, it gives me a message saying that the page could not be displayed. However, i am clearly connected to the internet as i can access it from Linux on the same computer and i can play on Xbox Live. Also, when i try to access the internet in safe mode with networking enabled, it still says that the page could not be displayed. Is there any way i can fix this without reinstalling windows because my computer did not include an XP disc when i bought it.

Why am i loosing my connection? Getting on line is no problem, but the moment i attempt to change to another website i loose my connection, in otherwords i am brought to the page that says "This page is not available etc etc" If i press the "Back" key i am brought back to the previous page not the page i tried to go to. Or if i press refresh it also will bring me to the previous page. An my second attempt at getting the desired web page it is then successful. This process is an everyday, all the time issue with the internet. I am running XP-PRO, 600MHZ, 256MB, sbc iNTERNET SERVICE. Folks what are my options?

Some time ago, I must have inadvertently "pushed a button" and the page size for Internet Explorer changed from "normal" to "magnified". I can't figure out how to change it back. Going into control panel and changing the screen resolution size has absolutely no effect. (I never re-adjusted the screen size anyway). It's so annoying to have to constantly work the page bars up and down, back and forth! I think the same thing has happened to AOL.

2. Right click the shortcut and select Properties.
3. Change the "target" value to "C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

Recently I have been having problems loading some websites such as yahoo.com. It takes a long time to laod and it doesn't load any pictures Just text. The same goes for hotmail.com and some random webistes. It is just extremely slow. How can I solve this problem? I am running XP Pro and EZ-Armor Anti Virus and Firewal; however, the problem exiists with or without firewall.

When ever I open a new internet explorer window from an already maximized IE window, either by clicking a link that opens a new window or by right clicking on a link and specifying open in new window, that window opens in a small window. How can I circumvent this? The icon's properties that opened the original IE window says maximized, so why aren't they all?

The one problem i usually have after i recover from the BSOD is am always unable to get back on line. all the other computers in the work group is usually still connected to the internet but whichever one of the computers that went down because of the BSOD, I always had to get the professional to reset my connnection on that particular pc/laptop is. So folks how can i fix this problem.Present systemis now up and running but no internet connection even when the icon shows that i am connected.

I've messed up something to do with Internet Explorer. First of all, when I open IE all I get is a blank page. No error message or anything. I try to go to a site and the address bar stays at "http:///". I tried repairing my Windows 2000 installation and it didn't help at all. Now it's reverted back to IE5 and Outlook Express 5. So I tried to reinstall IE6 by downloading the installation file and running it. I'm working on a computer that is blocking internet access to IE and firefox. Looks to me like the owner attempted to clear things up but left some remnants of a hijacker I can't find. When I open IE I notice the info bar redirecting me to C:windows escan't make out the full path then I get the page cannot be displayed message.
To be very clear, I can send and recieve email, I can ping and get a response, and I can also get online and able to browse in safe mode. So the connection is not completely down. Only when I am logged into a user account does this happen. Here is a HJT log. I restored a backup so one of you may get a better feeling as to what is going on. I am aware of the trojan infection of services32.exe as well as a couple other hijackers. However, when I remove all the baddies I see there is still no internet..........

i recieve this error message everytime i try to do a search from my address bar in internet explorer. i can type the direct address and i can go directly to a site, but searching is dead. i have enclosed the message below. might you be able to guide me? The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

I can't change my homepage anymore it's stuck at this stupid video renting site and also i can't listen to any audio in web pages or any other program except windows media player and i've noticed when i'm on warcraft 3 i can't only hear background music and clicking sounds but no battling or speech audio that's really weird and i've set the proper volumes in the game already so i don't know what's going on also, i'm using symantec antivirus corporate edition and spyware doctor but they were both recently been unable to protect my computer in real time when b4 it was always ON and protecting my computer, now i can only scan computer with those programs (i have not changed the settings on these programs and it still says real time protection is enabled).

i just bought this new computer for 1 of the staff and i have configured his profile. but then i tried to browse the internet and found it very slow, not in opening the IE, but in loading the pages. it takes around 20 to 30 seconds to load a page. when i use ping to check the connectivity, it takes a long time to display the first line, but it gives me a 1ms when pinging the server, which is good.
now i login with the administrator account and find the internet browsing is fast, but again the ping takes a while to display the first line. i did give that user Administrator permissions and tried again, but it's the same issue. i thought it would be higher permissions which could affect the user. So, i added the user to "domain admins", "administrators" groups, and i tried again, but the same situation

On some pages I get a "Page Cannot be Displayed" error that usually covers up ads on the page, and its rather annoying. Also, on most webisites, I now need to press the back button 3 times in order for it to go back just one page. Im not sure what is causing this but it really isnt fun.And I cant seem to find where I can redownload ther complete version of IE 6.0 SP2, and I know Microsoft.com, but I cant find it under downloads.
