If I select several files (mp3 or movies) and click Play Selection or Play All, I get the 'move file' box popping up on the screen. When I press cancel it pops up again, and I must click cancel one more time, before my files start playing as they should.Does anyone have a clue how to fix this annoying problem?

I cant rename the file,the context menu for the file is different than any other file, removing the Rename, Delete, and everything Useful... I cant open the File, btw was supposed to be a picture... Ive tried that technique you can use to rename a file, by clicking once on it selecting it, then clicking on the filename again, but beeps as if it was invalid. I have also tried safe mode, which also failed...
I am looking for a way to access and move a file without booting Windows. The reason is that I am a collossal idiot and accidentally moved a .dll file that is used by winlogon.exe and now I need to move it back.

When I go to move certain .avi movie files on my hard drive from one directory to another, I get an error message that says: Error Moving File, It is being used by another person or program.The problem is, I don't know of any other programs using it. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got Windows XP home and two external hard drives (connected via USB) and I'm trying to give one or both of those drives paging files. My hard-drives are an I-Omega 500GB and a Maxtor 300GB, both with plenty of room. I want to set my paging file to 650MB.I know how to change the size of a paging file. I go to System advanced performance...etc to get to the virtual memory box, I set the paging-file sizes for the external drives (remembering to press SET) then reboot. When the computer has restarted I run a disc analysis, but the external drives have no paging file.I notice that many people move their paging file to an external drive, so why isn't it working for me?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop running XP pro and whenever I try to rename, move or delete a file in explorer, DRWatson(kind soul that he is), pops up to tell me that he has encountered a problem and he needs to close. He then gives me the option to send an error report to microsoft. After sending numerous copies of these error reports to bill and not recieving anything in return, I thought it was about time I tried someone else. This is how I came upon this excellent site and after reading some of the posts, I am hopefull that there is a knowledgeable person on board who will be able to help me. The error report from DrWatson is below. If anyone can understand it and knows what the problem is, please let me know because at the moment I cannot do anything with my files or folders and it is driving me mad. The error report says:

The cursor to suddenly begin to wander around the screen? Do I have an infection of some sort. I have Norton system works protecting my machine supposedly. I also am running road runner which means my machine is on line continuously. This is driving me crazy and is becoming a pain in the bottom in view of the fact that I am an online professor with several courses currently underway.
View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a year old computer 2.4ghz running XP Pro.Recently the computer had gotten slower and slower and had lots of Popups. Sypbot found 127 bogus things going on.It could not clear all of them.We went into control panel and removed programs and took out a bunch of things that were not operating related programs.Computer was rebooted multiple times. Finally the computer just hangs when it gets to the blue XP screen, and will sit there for hours until rebooted.I have tried ever mode of Safe Mode to boot and I get the same blue XP screen. The mouse can still be moved around.I cannot boot from the CD rom with the XP disks and do not have bootable floppies. I cannot get into the setup screen to change the order of boot.Since this computer was a gift to the person, we do not know the administrator password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've had 3 cases today of people who cannot login at all.After the boot, they only get the Windows blue screen(not the BSOD),the mouse pointer is there (you can move it and everything...), but there's no Windows logon box (where you type ctrl+alt+del , and enter your username and password).The problem is the same if I try to boot in safe mode...It happened on two different PCs (different hardware), and also on a Lenovo T60.

I have WinXP Media Center, am using yahoo DSL internet at a rate of 1.5 mbps, and use firefox as my default browser. In the past few days, I've noticed that every once and a while AOL will start and ask for me to put in my password when I didn't start it or ask for it to start. It usually happens when I open a webpage, like every 5 pages I open AOL will pop up randomly. I'm not subscribed to their service, it came with the computer. When I close it after it pops up I can't open a webpage in firefox and need to close and re-start a firefox browser for me to open a webpage again.

Checked my hard drive several different ways and no problems. So I went to do a Windows XP repair instead of complete reinstall as they are a pain. After a long time it came back that couldn't do this because SPCMDCOM>SYS file was missing and couldn't repair from recovery console without it. My hard drive was replaced by Dell in July of 05 I think. What can I do without going to extremes? Secondly can I install my cd/dvd rom on my other Dell PC with discs I already have? View 4 Replies View RelatedHere is my problem: I am trying to stream FLAC files from my laptop or desktop running XP and foobar2000 via usb to a Bryston BDA1 DAC then on to a preamp and 2 channel amp.I get these little popping noises at irregular intervals. Same thing happens with both my laptop and destop, but not with my wife's laptop. Did some research and others were saying to disable other usb devices on the usb bus, I went in the Device manager section and did that, plus killed some processes to no avail. Even disabled all wireless cards, etc..

I'm having lots of troubles with USB 2.0 support. My mother board is a ASUS P5GD2 Premium, which only has USB 2.0 ports but my Windows XP SP2 keeps popping up this error! I have some drivers, but they don't install because XP SP2 should already support USB 2.0. Maybe the cables that connect the USB ports are the problem.

I admit I screwed up. Ventured off onto another page looking for something (andr) I think and I caught something. So I have cleaned what I can but I am still getting a lot if pop ups. I did also get hooked with spysherriff. As I type I have a total of 15 IE pages opened mow. Have to keep closing. I am running Trend Micro housecall.antivirus and along with AVG. But no help.
