I dont know what is going on with my pc. First it crashed yesterday and needed to be reformatted by the company i am buying it from. I got it back today. Added all the stuff that was removed. And now when i log on i get my system 32 folder popping up on me
I recently moved out on my own and though I'm fairly knowledgeable regarding my laptop and its programs, I am not that familiar with repairing problems. I am having a consistent problem with system 32 folder popping up everytime I turn my computer on. I had this problem one other time and managed to trouble shoot my way out of it. But this time, try as I may I cannot get the darn thing to stop. I did bring up the I did the ctrl, shft & esc all at the same time and brought up my task manager and the first thing I noticed was that there were three things listed. The first was a foxfire logo followed by the words for whatever I'm searching for. like now it says tech Support Guy Forums - post new thread....Running. Under that is a square followed by the word Address, under that is another box followed by the words Quick Launch. I'm not sure what to do to get rid of the consistent popping up of system 32. It's just an irritating little sound and action.
My friend's computer is getting some pretty weird things going on. She says that the System 32 window will appear every time she boots up her machine. It started after her husband got caught surfing the web for porn. An AdAware scan didn't fix it and going to a previous Windows System Restore point didn't work either.
I have a USB external drive. Somehow a folder on it is now a "operating system" folder. Whenever I plug in the USB drive I have to click on Tools -> Folder Options and uncheck the box "Hide protected operating system files" on the View tab, or I can not see the folder. How do I set it as a non "operating system" folder? On the properties tab of the folder, the hidden attribute is ticked and greyed out so I can not untick it.
I would like to add several folders under the Run command on the right of the START menu. I used this tweak (below) of Kelly's to add one folder there. But If I run this tweak again it replaces the first folder with the new one.I thought I might be able to make the changes by hand so I tried to understand the code of the tweak.
Wwhen I start my computer up my Kazaa folder pops up along with all my regular start up programs. I had uninstalled Kazaa, but this folder keeps appearing at start up. Tried to change my normal startup to selective by checking it off, but it still shows up.
I have WinXP Media Center, am using yahoo DSL internet at a rate of 1.5 mbps, and use firefox as my default browser. In the past few days, I've noticed that every once and a while AOL will start and ask for me to put in my password when I didn't start it or ask for it to start. It usually happens when I open a webpage, like every 5 pages I open AOL will pop up randomly. I'm not subscribed to their service, it came with the computer. When I close it after it pops up I can't open a webpage in firefox and need to close and re-start a firefox browser for me to open a webpage again.
I want to add a FOLDER as a shortcut in the MAIN part of the start menu. I would prefer it be where "My Computer", "My Documents", etc is, but I would settle for where "Internet" and "E-Mail" currently are. I can successfully add apps to that area, but not folders. I basically just want to click the start menu, click on the folder, and have it open up.
I am running Window XP Pro and for some time have been getting the following common error message:16 bit Windows Subsystem C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate.(Clicking on 'Close' or 'Ignore' has no further result)I have read of similar problems requiring the file to be restored into the directory from a Windows Repair folder, but there is not one on our machine. I have searched for it with all files shown and know it has never been deleted. Is it possible a virus got rid of this?
Here is my problem: I am trying to stream FLAC files from my laptop or desktop running XP and foobar2000 via usb to a Bryston BDA1 DAC then on to a preamp and 2 channel amp.I get these little popping noises at irregular intervals. Same thing happens with both my laptop and destop, but not with my wife's laptop. Did some research and others were saying to disable other usb devices on the usb bus, I went in the Device manager section and did that, plus killed some processes to no avail. Even disabled all wireless cards, etc..
My old system hasn't been powered on for about a year. Problem was the onboard video failed replaced it with a video card from another system (riva TNT) and bought some memory system wouldn't boot, determined that the memory was bad Now the system booted but win2K wouldn't work. No problem I have XP now. After multiple error during the xp install I finally got through it.only the computer will only boot in safe mode. Initially thought it was a hardare conflict so I booted in safe mode with networking and systematically cleared all the yellow.
I've Windows XP Pro SP2. for some reason I cant find Run in Start menu, also when I open any folder i cant see "Folder options" in view list Scanning with Norton Anti-Virus corporate Edition 10 doesnt show any virus activities
I accidentally made a duplicate? startup folder? on my desktop from my start menu to the desktop. The copy on my desktop works the other (in the drop menu) does not. If you load a program in the start menu? startup folder? upon re-boot it will not start the selected program. My question is how do I delete the? startup?folder in my start menu? When I try it will not allow me to do so. This whole thing isn?t causing any problem. It?s just starting to grate on me.
WinXP uses Documents & Settings as the default folder to store downloads, Word files, etc. How can I make another folder the default, so that when I start to download a file, it automatically opens MyDocs New. I know I can change the defaults on Word, Excel. but I want to change WinXP.
For some reason when ever I start up the folder "system32" appears on my desktop. It's not a big deal it's more annoying than anything but I'm sure when I go to START UP what uncheck to stop this from popping up everytime.
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
I'm having lots of troubles with USB 2.0 support. My mother board is a ASUS P5GD2 Premium, which only has USB 2.0 ports but my Windows XP SP2 keeps popping up this error! I have some drivers, but they don't install because XP SP2 should already support USB 2.0. Maybe the cables that connect the USB ports are the problem.
I keep getting a windows installer popup window whenever I open ANY program. It says that The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the disk and click OK. There is nothing listed in Use Source. I cant tie it to anything I have done recently. I have Windows XP SP2.
What's this login box that is popping up now? I've never had this before and I've seen it on a couple of computers now.A login box pops up in the middle of anything - nice Windows colors with two keys in upper left.. asking for password and login "connecting to sc.msn.com"? Where the heck is this coming from?

I did also get hooked with spysherriff. As I type I have a total of 15 IE pages opened mow. Have to keep closing. I am running Trend Micro housecall.antivirus and along with AVG. But no help. I am including a log of Hijack this as well as Rootkit Revealer. I don't know where else to turn................
I did not pay attention to what key I accidentally pressed.Once I pressed it, the InstantShare window pops up, asking for inserting a CD-ROM to run it.I keep pressing the cancel button. It does not do anything but keep mutiplying to pop another InstantShare window up.I shut the computer down.It does not solve the problem. Now, it's always popping up and on my desktop.

I have XP SP3, and have recently discovered that when Restarting the system, after logging on, Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird automatically run. There are no shortcuts for them in the Start Up Folder, and they do not start automatically after a complete shut down/fresh start -- only after a restart. After they're up and running, everything works normal.
My hard drive was formatted due to a virus and now when the computer is turned I get an empty file folder every time. I would like to know how to remove this and have it just go directly to my desktop.
