Computer Will Not Move Past Blue Splash Screen

May 1, 2005

A friend of mine has a year old computer 2.4ghz running XP Pro.Recently the computer had gotten slower and slower and had lots of Popups. Sypbot found 127 bogus things going on.It could not clear all of them.We went into control panel and removed programs and took out a bunch of things that were not operating related programs.Computer was rebooted multiple times. Finally the computer just hangs when it gets to the blue XP screen, and will sit there for hours until rebooted.I have tried ever mode of Safe Mode to boot and I get the same blue XP screen. The mouse can still be moved around.I cannot boot from the CD rom with the XP disks and do not have bootable floppies. I cannot get into the setup screen to change the order of boot.Since this computer was a gift to the person, we do not know the administrator password.

Installed New HD - Won't Go Past The Splash Screen

Feb 14, 2009

I copied my laptop hard drive with Norton Ghost 14 to a larger HD and installed it onto my Dell Inspiron 9300. It starts with the Windows XP screen with the loading progress bar and gets to the blue screen with Windows XP and just stalls, won't load. I can get it into safe mode but it gets to the same splash screen and stalls again.

Won't Go Past Splash Screen - Network Connection

Apr 26, 2010

I recently reformatted my laptop, and I got everything working, I had some network connection issues but I got past those. After installing SP2, I was unable to access any Microsoft websites, so I uninstalled SP2, after the uninstall process, it blue screened, though I don't remember what it said, it shut down after about 5 seconds and I was unable to catch the text displayed. Okay, so I try to start the computer up again, safe mode (all of them; networking, cmd prompt, etc) - Safe mode will not launch so that's out of the question. If I start windows normally or last known good configuration, it gets to the windows splash screen, and then goes black. If I could just get my important files that I moved to my computer, I could reformat again to try and fix the problem.. I have my XP disk in right now and was going to try and use the Repair on it, but I'm afraid that it'll stop any chances of recovering my lost files.

Won't Boot Past Splash Screen In Normal Mode

Apr 20, 2010

I am working on a Dell Optiplex GX270 that will not boot past the splash screen in normal mode, nor will it go into safe mode. I'm not getting any errors, just a very faint splash screen. So far I've tried (with no success):

1) changing power supplies
2) put in a new video card
3) put in a different hard drive with a fresh Windows XP install
4) different memory

System Won't Boot Past Splash Screen - No Errors

Feb 24, 2007

I'm working on a Compaq Deskpro EN500 running Windows XP Professional SP2 (with all patches and updates), current antivirus and antispyware, and firewall. The system was working fine, user was online browsing the web when the system froze. The mouse froze, etc. Start button could not be accessed. The user shut down the system with the power button. When he turned it back on, he was greeted with the standard Microsoft 'an error has occured' screen' and given the choices of Safe Mode

Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good
Start Windows Normally

When I choose any of these, I can get as far as the Windows XP splash screen and then the system seizes. I can get into the Windows Recovery Console. I have run a CHKDSK /P /R and a FIXBOOT. CHKDSK returns no errors. I'm not sure what to try next short of a rebuild.

Blank Blue Screen With Mouse Arrow After Xp Splash Screen

Oct 21, 2009

i'm having to boot into windows xp. on power up sytem goes through the windows xp splash screen (with progress bar) and then instead of login prompt it goes just into the blue screen with moveable mouse pointer arrow.

issue seems to be similar to:
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...o-startup.html
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...p-problem.html
but recommended solutions didn't help so far.

symptoms just before issue - was not able to run use some system features - utility to turn off the display, utility to bring up battery info - everything was working fine before this

what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen

boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive

PC Won't Go Past Loading - Blue Screen Of Death

Apr 1, 2006

I turned on my PC this morning to find it would restart after the Windows Loading screen and give me the list of safe mode, etc. I went into safe mode but it done the same. This is also the case for all of the other options, including last configuration. The previous night I received a BSOD (Blue screen of death) and there was a count up showing memory dump to hard drive. I read the instructions and as it said it was my first event and so I restart. However, I did restart when the counter was at around 34. Im guessing thats really a % and I should have waited until 100%?

Boot Up - Splash Screen Appears Blue Line Scrolling

Jan 27, 2006

I have been experiencing intermittent bootup problems with Windows XP. When this happens, the XP splash screen appears(blue line scrolling) and then monitor loses signal and reboot occurs. This can cycle several times, even if I choose the option of starting Windows with last known configuration that worked. It always eventually loads and reports that Windows experienced a serious problem.

Turn On Start Boot - Splash Screen Blue Starting

Jul 3, 2008

Turn the computer on, it starts to boot, I see the compaq splash screen then the blue windows is starting. Then it just restarts the process over. I have tried to repair windows: The F8 to last known good config & F8 safe and it just restarts from both of those as well. Win XP SP3 Currently doing this: You can boot from the cd and press R to go to the recovery console. Your best bet is to try running Checkdisk. So once in the recovery console, type chkdsk /r and press enter. It could take from 20 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the repairs it needs to make

It allows me 5 choice, safemode, safemode networking, safemode cmd, last known good config and normally. If i choose any of them then immediatly hit F8 i get the rest of the options for boot up. Every choice ends the same way froim debug mode to safe mode. After you make your selection you get to the windows loading screen. About 2-3 seconds into it the computer goes into a rolling restart mode.

Blue Screen Error Durring Installation . Virus Problems In Past.

Jul 8, 2008

I have a dell Dimension 4600, which has given me so many problems throughout the years. When we got it, the thing ran great. This was a few years ago... A year or two ago the thing got a NASTY Virus, and ever since then it hasn't worked because of hardware and software problems. I pretty much decided to give up at that point and the thing has been sitting around collecting dust.My dad thought it was the memory, and so today I carted the computer up into my room, set it up and put in a new memory card. It didn't help, My computer goes in circles when trying to boot up, until the blue screen pops up.
It cannot boot from the hard drive, and I get the message "press F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility"
F2 takes me to the utility, but as far as I know I don't want to change anything here at the moment.
if I press F1 it pops up the same message.
So I tried Booting from the CD and Reinstalling from the CD. Neither worked and both of these result in the Blue screen of death. For the install, the blue screen would come up at the third bullet point which I believe is "preparing installation."
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0xCDCDCDCD, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x807d600f)
WhenI continue the current upgrade I get "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
the Tech info is:
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0a130013, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x807d5ff9)
I am getting a few other blue screens but I don't know what the say, But as far as I know, everything I have tried has lead to some form of Blue Death screen. Any Ideas on how I can get this puppy to work?I also tried to boot from my Laptops CD but it didn't work so its not the CD that is the problem.

Computer Screen Splash And Beeps

Jul 26, 2005

I switch on my PC, it starts ok till the Windows Welcome screen. I hear the XP intro music then there's a 3 second pause, then a short beep, another 3 second pause, then another short beep, and then another 3 second pause followed by another short beep. Then the PC continues on to the desktop, and it seemingly runs ok. I regularly run Adaware, Spybot, Spyware blaster, CWShredder, and Microsoft Antispyware. everything comes up fine. I have PC-cillin 2005 on my system and that is checked regularly. Now I don't know if this is a coincidence or just what, but when I first heard the beeps, I thought to do a system restore back a month or so, but the system restore had been turned off. Now I know that I didn't do it, and no one else uses my system, so I don't know if that has anything to do with the beep problem.

Computer Stalled At Splash Screen

Feb 22, 2007

I know I have seen this talked about but I cannot find a resolution. I have a new HP Pavilion desktop PC that has Media Center 2005 installed with all updates from Microsoft. It has the following hardware, etc:I recently had to replace the internal Media Card Reader as it had failed. Last night I tried to start it up and it kept hanging at the Windows XP splash screen with the blue bar scrolling left to right. It just stayed there and would not go further. I then booted up to Windows XP install CD and entered the Recovery Console to start CHKDSK /R which it completed successfully. However that did not solve anything. I have read that Windows is loading drivers, etc. under this splash screen and it more than likely is trying to resolve an issue with one of those.

Blank Screen Freeze Up Before Splash Screen. Safe Mode Works

Oct 7, 2007

Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...oot-black.html

The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.

All 3 safe mods work fine.

Ran chkdsk /r in recovery.
Ran proper fixboot procedure.

Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.

The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AmdK8
Fips
nod32drv

Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.

I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?

Black Screen With Moveable Cursor After Splash Screen?

Feb 11, 2009

Was working fine this morning but this afternoon - Upon startup everything runs fine until after the windows splash screen everything goes black and the only thing visable is a cursor, but nothing to click, cannot ctrl=alt=del, cannot right click. Cannot enter safe mode at all, last good configuration doesn't work either. Computer is still running, fan whirring, lights flashing. Fan has been cleaned and power supply checked, no change. Cannot get into anything to run explorer or virus check. She is running Windows XP SP3. I'm unsure of when sp3 was installed. I understand this may be an issue, along with video and graphics drivers, display settings, corrupt registry, flat CMOS battery or loose internal connections.

Hangs At Splash Screen

Apr 25, 2005

This problem started several days ago. On restart the XP splash screen loads but freezes as the progress bar is in motion. After rebooting several times it does load to the desktop, but on restarting again it hangs.
I have searched reference articles, forums, etc and have found others have the same problem and have narrowed it down to nvidia drivers and hardware conflicts that load after 'mup.sys' in the boot up process.I had installed a nvidia graphics card and driver before this problem began but then uninstalled, deciding to keep the on board sis igp. I have downloaded driver cleaner and removed all traces of the nvidia driver but the problem persists..I am running XP sp2, p4 3ghz, foxconn motherboard, sis 661fx graphics.

I used ERD to run CHKDSK --- no errors. Possibly the hdd? ERD took a loooong time to read what OSs were on the hdd--five minutes.
