I've got a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop that won't get past the blue screen of death. If i choose to start up on last know good config this is the blue screen i get:If i choose to start up in safe mode i get this screen first.

View 12 Replies View Related1st, computer will not boot up unless I unplug the power cord for about 5 min.Then, when I plug it back in, and turn on the computer, it says "choose which windows XP startup you want to use".When I let the time run out for the automatic start, it brings me to another screen. Sometimes the screen is just blank and other times it says "Sorry windows XP could not be booted up" because of some new software updates that was added recently.Then it shows options for all the ways to boot up my computer.And it recommends that I choose last working mode.So I go to that and it either freezes or brings me to my main microsoft office screen and at this point it has the loading bar going across.This either brings me to my main screen or this freezes.I've tried several times and have gotten to several different points but ultimately it freezes.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI turned on my PC this morning to find it would restart after the Windows Loading screen and give me the list of safe mode, etc. I went into safe mode but it done the same. This is also the case for all of the other options, including last configuration. The previous night I received a BSOD (Blue screen of death) and there was a count up showing memory dump to hard drive. I read the instructions and as it said it was my first event and so I restart. However, I did restart when the counter was at around 34. Im guessing thats really a % and I should have waited until 100%?

I've replaced the hard drive and even swapped it with a good drive with xp loaded....still the same error. I've tried running the restore disk...same thing. Bios loads properly and detects everything it needs too. Just after the bios i get a chioce window that says your computer stoped responding for what ever reason, blah blah blah. It allows me 5 choice, safemode, safemode networking, safemode cmd, last known good config and normally. If i choose any of them then immediatly hit F8 i get the rest of the options for boot up. Every choice ends the same way froim debug mode to safe mode. After you make your selection you get to the windows loading screen. About 2-3 seconds into it the computer goes into a rolling restart mode.
View 12 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a year old computer 2.4ghz running XP Pro.Recently the computer had gotten slower and slower and had lots of Popups. Sypbot found 127 bogus things going on.It could not clear all of them.We went into control panel and removed programs and took out a bunch of things that were not operating related programs.Computer was rebooted multiple times. Finally the computer just hangs when it gets to the blue XP screen, and will sit there for hours until rebooted.I have tried ever mode of Safe Mode to boot and I get the same blue XP screen. The mouse can still be moved around.I cannot boot from the CD rom with the XP disks and do not have bootable floppies. I cannot get into the setup screen to change the order of boot.Since this computer was a gift to the person, we do not know the administrator password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Dimension 4600, which has given me so many problems throughout the years. When we got it, the thing ran great. This was a few years ago... A year or two ago the thing got a NASTY Virus, and ever since then it hasn't worked because of hardware and software problems. I pretty much decided to give up at that point and the thing has been sitting around collecting dust.My dad thought it was the memory, and so today I carted the computer up into my room, set it up and put in a new memory card. It didn't help, My computer goes in circles when trying to boot up, until the blue screen pops up.
It cannot boot from the hard drive, and I get the message "press F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility"
F2 takes me to the utility, but as far as I know I don't want to change anything here at the moment.
if I press F1 it pops up the same message.
So I tried Booting from the CD and Reinstalling from the CD. Neither worked and both of these result in the Blue screen of death. For the install, the blue screen would come up at the third bullet point which I believe is "preparing installation."

I am getting a few other blue screens but I don't know what the say, But as far as I know, everything I have tried has lead to some form of Blue Death screen. Any Ideas on how I can get this puppy to work?I also tried to boot from my Laptops CD but it didn't work so its not the CD that is the problem.
when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
Any ideas?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI understand that the system and everything is old, but it's all I've got to work with right now.I have a Compaq Evo N800C running Windows 2000 Professional.I've tried every option in the F8 & F10 setups, everything takes me back to the blue screen. I know I read that this might be a virus. I read a suggestion about taking the drive to another computer to check this - I'm very very very home user basic beginner and I don't know if or how the drive can be removed from the laptop and put into my Dell desktop to check it.

Even since my last windows update, it became awfully slow and it started giving me blue screen errors at boot time .once in a while. I would say that about 1 in 2 times, it wouldn't boot. Then I would try "last known good configuration" or just start normally and after a few tries, it would work. But since the last windows updates this morning (july 13th), I cannot boot without getting a blue screen error. The best I can do is boot in safe mode about once very two tries.

This started out with the speakers I turned down the volume to nothing while playing a game and then I tried to turn it back up I got no sound from internal speakers. tried all the options in the volume looking for anything muted but nothing. Tried to update the sound card drivers with the same results of no sound out of the internal speakers. when starting my laptop I had a smaller then the normal screen when starting up, same size on my main screen. able to change to a higher resolution to fill the entire screen but if I go any lower then the highest resolution I have a black boarder were the window should be.

The message was something along the lines of. A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Then it gave me some technical information (which im assuming is what's causing these problems) and it was like 0x346432HF, 0x3456DFGH (those aren't the actual values, it was just 0x[8 characters].It also said to restart my computer and run CHDSK /F to check for any hard drive problems.So I restart my computer, and everything is fine until I reach the login screen. I click on my user account and then type in my password, and halfway through that sound you hear when your computer is starting up, I get the same blue screen again. Next, I restart my computer and try to start it from the last time it worked. Blue screen during start up again.I try starting it in safe mode, blue screen during start up.I was hoping someone here would be able to help me so I won't have to resort to reformatting my computer. I really don't want to reformat my computer because I have some old games I still play like Starcraft, but I lost the cd key to it ages ago.
