Cloning IBM Thinkpad To Dell Optiplex
I have just used ACRONIS True Image to clone WIN XP Pro from an IBM Think pad to a Dell Optiplex desktop. After restoring the image to the Dell - I used the original Dell XP Pro disk to do a Repair install (not recovery console). XP then booted up into the Dell. All works fine and I have not had to re-install any of my applications. However, I am missing my display driver, Power management drivers, etc. So I can't hibernate but the display as it stands works fine.Is there some way of getting these drivers to be recognized or auto detected? I thought Windows would just auto detect them but perhaps because everything is working this step is bypassed.I can always go back and do a restore with my Dell disks but I am trying to avoid re-installing all my apps - the greater task than reinstalling XP.
Installing On IBM Thinkpad Error Reading

So all going good the Hard drive i could format, then start the installation of windows, until it then begins to state that there are files missing on the disc that it needs for installation. The disc is a legit copy of windows I have purchased and is in good condition with no scratches at all so there is no data missing. further more i installed windows 98 onto it and that was fine... The laptop is not so old as to it wont support XP as it is designed for xp and previously had xp on there.

The message was something along the lines of. A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Then it gave me some technical information (which im assuming is what's causing these problems) and it was like 0x346432HF, 0x3456DFGH (those aren't the actual values, it was just 0x[8 characters].It also said to restart my computer and run CHDSK /F to check for any hard drive problems. So I restart my computer, and everything is fine until I reach the login screen.
