May 22, 2006I have forgotten the command to allow me to stop a program from loading when Windows starts. Can someone refresh my memory, please?

SP2 And IE - Web Pages Stop Loading
Dec 7, 2004Since I installed SP2 everything seems OK except I now notice that some web pages will load only part way then stop loading. If I use Firefox and go the same page it loads immediately. Is there some security setting I should aware of that prevents some pages from loading? The last page I had a problem with was one associated with Paint Shop Pro - hardly a suspicious website. I like Firefox, but unfortunately my password manager (Norton) doesn't work with it.

Feb 21, 2005I've got a few things that I can't stop from loading on start-up. I don't use the programs (or very rarely use them) so I just end up right-clicking on them on the toolbar to stop them. I tired going into the options for each program to stop them from loading on start-up but can't find a way to do it.
Is there a way to view what loads on start-up so I can remove them from the list?

Sep 19, 2005My SIL has messed this up badly. I am very good at following directions and usually figuring out computer problems, but now I can't do anything. The computer boots, shows windows XP loading and then stop. No error message. No blue screen. NOTHING. Just empty dark blackness. And I am at a loss what to do. I know they have viruses on their computer and I was trying to help them get the computer fixed. Now I dont know what to do.

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

Recovery On Advent 7093 - Forgotten
Sep 23, 2009Recently I've been having trouble my Advent 7093. I think due to a virus. I keep getting stuck in a perpetual loop of windows failing to start. As there was nothing particulary on the laptop that I needed to keep I thought I would just do a full system restore. However, when I tried pressing F10 during start up nothing happened (no matter how many times I pressed it!) So i ordered a recovery disk from The Tech Guys expecting that when i started my laptop with the disk in the drive it would automatically take me into system recovery.
It doesn't! I just get a screen saying....

Error! PC System not supported
press any key to continue
when I phoned The Tech Guys for help they told me that for some reason my Advent no longer thinks that it's an Advent and that I'd need to take it to a PC World to be 'fixed' Has anyone else had an experience like this? is there anyway I can sort this out without having to take the laptop in?

I used the 'Network Connections' wizard in the control panel. in this wizard i did input a passwrod as one of the fields needing filling in. But all the files in B has extensions NEF instead of jpg eg abc.NEF, efg.NEF, xyz.NEF. My idea is to extract all the files from B that has the same the name as A(ignoring extensions) and either move or copy to a separate folder ie if A contains abc.jpg, xyz.jpg then abc.NEF and xyz.NEF will be extracted and moved/copied to a new folder. I'm not sure where to start. is there a program out there that can do this? or there's a special command to type at the command prompt?
