I share a computer with my brother. I started yesterday and now my computer keeps say I have a trojan horse it,and it brings up internet icon every min or so. How do I get rid of it i tried deleteing it and it doesn't work.
View 8 RepliesI am running a PC clone, Win XP SP3. It is using a wired connection to a router. Yesterday, out of no where, I lost connection to the internet. No browsers, Trillian, nothing that uses the internet works. I tried running a virus scan, malware scan and found nothing. I tried doing a system restore and it seemed to work, for a brief moment I had the internet again. Then, once more, it stopped working.
Right now, the current speculation is that the onboard network connection is dying. What I'm trying to find out, is if that is possible or not. I'm not worried about having to buy a card - they're cheap. I am worried about buying a new card and it not fixing the problem.Are there other things that can cause this to happen that I can/should look into first?
All worked as normal Printer icon would print automatically with default print settings; File -Print would bring up print properties dialogue box to select options.Unhooked printer from laptop. Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?

The icon on the desktop for IE shows fine but when i try to click on it, it creates a shortcut for internet explorer. if click on IE from the start menu, it opens IE with no problems.

However the second is labeled 'internet connection'. When i double click on it the click on properties, "This connection allows you to connect to the internet through a shared connection on another computer".There is one other in the building connecting to the internet - but theres not meant to be any inter-pc networking going on.In the meantime - since first discovering the above - when i now click on 'internet connection' it wont display.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer at work has been recently upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP. Funny thing is that the Internet Explorer icon (not a shortcut) doesn't show on the desktop. When I right click on the desktop to open the display properties and select the IE icon to be displayed, it still doesn't show on screen. I can only find shortcuts. They're not what I need because when you right click on a shortcut, the IE properties don't show (so you can't delete history or cookies).

Now there is an icon there, but I get all the options if you were to right click on IE on your desktop.My work has changed to a new program. This is not happening with just one of my shortcuts this is happening with all of them.I usually do a restart to fix this problem and it doesn't happen any more but that is only a temporary fix because it often happens again when I startup my computer. About 75% of the times that I open up "my pictures" in "my documents" (where I store lots of my digital photos) I get the error message where it asks you if you want to send an error report. Whether I choose to or not, or even if I simply shut the message, "my pictures" closes and I therefore cannot access the folder. The other 25% of the time it opens fine.As I say, it's just photos and short videos stored in here, all taken by my own digital camera. Virus and other problem checkers haven't detected anything, and there's no reason to suspect these files are infected with anything.

The problem is, in doing so I must have enabled some weird seach option, because when I double-click either drive (C: or external) in My Computer it brings up a search window with that drive selected as where I want to search. When I went to change the Virtual Memory settings so it will use this partition, I got a blue screen and had to reboot. I kept working with it and finally got it to accept 100 MB for the lowest and 1400 for the highest setting. However, after reading more, I think the 100 MB should have been higher. It won't let me change it to anything else

I was playing Diablo 2 today and my Internet Explorer 6 icon on my desktop (icon available in desktop settings, not a shortcut) seems to have reverted to something from Internet Explorer 4 or earlier. I've tried re-applying the Windows XP theme (this worked for me on the original Diablo on my old PC when the start button did something similar) but no luck. I'm good at computing (e.g. I can edit the registry easily, follow instructions, I know quite a lot about XP) but I've never had a problem like this before. I'm gonna have to ask for help on this one.

View 2 Replies View Relatedno IE icon on desktop or in programs. i have internet access through verizon. i recently got windows update to install IE7 in the hope that would restore the icon/program but the only way i can access the internet is via the verizon browser. i clearly installed IE7 because now the "sidebar" of my verizon browser says that "sidebar i currently not compatible with IE7...". so why can't i get the IE7 icon in my program list or desktop?
