Explorer, Brings Windows Forward When Selected, But Not On Task Bar?
Aug 18, 2008
the task bar no longer brings windows forward, and only brings some forward when i minimize and maximize. What system files would i need to replace or what would i do to fix this little bug? i dont want to go through a whole repair install for this little quirk.
after searching for around 3-4 hours now, i decided to try this place.okay, the problem for me is this.i dont know if viruses are the deal here. maybe they are, since i have an unknown program running and i dont know how i got it, called fhdaumwA (couldn't find any info on google) and some other junk like Ta_Start and Think-Adz.if they are the real reason for this problem then i am very sorry and i will post this in the virus removal section.but the reason i believe this is not a virus problem is because my cpu is normal (2-5% usage).windows explorer does not open at startup, and only the background image is displayed.aka- no toolbar, no right click dropdown, etc.a few hours ago, if i ran explorer.exe from run using ctrl alt delete it would work for around 2-5 seconds and then shut down again, leaving only the background image.so. during those few seconds i attempted to open my computer the window closed right when explorer.exe shut down again, leaving the background image.i decided that maybe updating windows would help from Microsoft updates.apparently it made the situation worse, since explorer now does not even open up at all, (if 2-5 seconds is anything anyway...)i have searched many places and all places do not have an answer for me or i cannot actually perform the steps to clear it (my system restore does not work.. the system root system32 store.
There are 4 users on this computer. My user ID works fine but all the others do not. When I try to select "Start" I get the Windows Explorer has encountered a problem ...." , then I get a Dr. Watson failure error message.
Had to re-install XP2 Pro and Outlook Express 6. Need to figure out why I can't forward emails that contain images, such as jpegs. I receive the email with the jpeg in the message fine but when I forward the email the jpegs only show as the empty box with the "x" in top left corner. Before re-installing Xp and Office and OE6 I was able to do this. Is there a setting or configuration that I missed. I have set in OE6 Mail Sending Format to HTML with Send Pictures with Messages and Encoding Text as Quoted Printable. I'm using Yahoo as my mail server.
I don't know where to post this question so I'll try here! Can somebody please tell me how to retrieve my back and forward buttons in Firefox? Don't even know how I lost them.
I have been having a problem forwarding attachments with Pics. The window comes up note pad with many many lines of junk. I have tried all I know which isn't much to over come this problem. Any assistancs would be appreciated. Also can't recieve some attached pics also.
I work from home and need to be able to email. A few days ago I started by getting Script Errors at the bottom of my pages anytime I tried to do anything, but read my yahoo mail. I asked yahoo's help desk for support and they had me check the java script and debugging, and try downloading updated IE. Now I it says Error on Page at the bottom of my screen and I still can't do anything. I can't reply, forward, compose, attach files, delete, or move messages.
I have done something in my settings to cancel my ability to reply to or forward e-mail I receive. I use Outlook Express on Windows XP home. Can someone give me specific guidelines/directions on the procedure to correct this problem.
Using Windows XP Home and Outlook Express I have thousands of messages in OE in various folders that I would like to save in my gmail folders (Google mail acct). Is there anyway I can tranfer a whole folder of messages to my gmail address. Or if not an entire folder at least 20 or so messages at a time?
I recently had a problem on my computer where Internet explorer was not working and would'nt open, and no windows based functions that used the explorer interface would work... So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.
Hard drive crash, transplanted HD to new computer which now has 2 hard drives, C & D. Problem is I cannot open Windows Explorer from desktop or any other location, from either drive. I get a message that says it "generates errors." And that it is keeping a log, presumably for use on some Day of Judgment. (I get around it for now by right-clicking My Computer and picking Explore from the pop-up menu.)I have gone to the usual download sites in search of WE, no dice.

I have a computer that is running windows xp home edition. I cannot create a shortcut to the windows explorer application on my desktop, as the windows explorer program does not appear in the programs window. I know that if I click on the start menu and navagate to the programs icon, a second window wil appear showing all of the programs that are installed on my computer. However in the programs menu, I cannot see my explorer application anywhere.
I'm running Win XP Home and upon starting I get the following message(twice):userinit.exe ? Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application. Then it leaves my background without any functionality. I can continue the start up by ctrl+alt+del then starting a new explorer.exe task, which gives this message a few times:Rundll32.exe ? Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.iThen once all the usual initial programs have started the topmost one is all that's left and the rest turns black, and it all gets messed up.I've looked up userinit.exe problems but none of them looked exactly like mine. Safe mode has the same thing except that there is no background (I don't know what safe mode usually looks like), and opening explorer.exe in task manager does nothing.
Recently, upon startup, i have been getting an error message that says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then asks me to tell Microsoft about the problem and i have the option to either send a error report or not to send one. Either way, after choosing one windows explorer terminates and restarts itself. Then the same error message pops up. Recently, when i keep sending the error report, after about the 4th or 5th time, my desktop will just freeze up
I share a computer with my brother. I started yesterday and now my computer keeps say I have a trojan horse it,and it brings up internet icon every min or so. How do I get rid of it i tried deleteing it and it doesn't work.
on my laptop loads but when push ok for it to start and it comes to the where the icons would be on the desk top and the taskbar that dont show and cant do anything and it says mcafee visus scan there is a vircus but cant scan it if nothing comes up and this laptop is a dell.
when opening folders from desktop computer slows - when task mgr opens it shows explorer.exe at 100% - below is logfile of HijackThis - any help would greatly be appreciated.
So basically my computer is not doing just about everything - I am lucky for it to be working right now. So much errors - explorer.exe does not run at start up - task manager sometimes is disabled by administrator (but works sometimes, like now, so that i can run explorer.exe from it) - windows live communictaions always has problems - MSN, not working, just freezing. There has also been shortcuts to porn sites and gaming sites put everywhere. CMD is not working either, hardly anything is. I have no idea how to fix it, someone said something about a SkyNet virus but I think it's more.
I was running BitDefender, and the day before, it had already deleted explorer.exe. But my computer was still working. I just had to use Task Manager to open programs. Today, whole running BitDefender, I was looking on the internet for a way to download another explorer.exe, and I found a zip file and downloaded it. BUT I can't unzip it without explorer.exe. And while scanning,BitDefender must have deleted my Task Manager. Now, when I start my computer,I have nothing ! No taskbar, start menu, icons, anything! Just wallpaper. And when I control-alt-delete, I get the menu, but when I choose Task Manager, nothing happens
I have windows XP home edition running on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, and have recently done a windows repair, which set me back to service pack one. So I went to the site and downloaded all of the necessary updates, installed, and then went back a second time and did it again and installed SP2. I then received the BSOD when I restarted after SP2. So I started up using F8 to boot into the most recent configuration that worked, and there was no taskbar or start menu. I tried starting up normally, and it started up, but took forever loading (the screen that says loading your settings), and the taskbar is still not there, neither is the start menu.
I have to use XP only occasionally when housesitting for a relative. This version of windows has what is to me a major annoyance...whenever I open up more than 6 or 7 windows (multiple IEs to cruise web, messenger, folders, etc), it suddenly collapses them into one button on the toolbar. Then you can't quickly switch between windows...you have to go to the one button then a select from a menu which window you want to go back to.Hopefully this is simple setting fix, but I was not able to find it in toolbar options or in the "help" file.I'm just used to windows 98, and a lot of the "features" of XP really frustrate me.
I opened windows explorer and I think it was taking up so much memory that it froze-I had to wait a while for it to work properly, and then it was really slow(even for my slow pc,I had windows live messenger and itunes' windows open and they just disappeared from the taskbar, and I had to right click on their icons in the right corner(is that the notification area-I forgot),and when they reappeared on the taskbar I had to right click on them, and they would only open when I clicked maximize. It took me a while to open some things in windows explorer too
Had major trojans, spyware, etc. Ran Malawarebytes removed all beautifully except when I rebooted, I have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. When I right click on desktop, nothing. Can access Task Manager and get to files that way but no way to activate desktop. What has happened here? Also, nothing on desktop when I go into SafeMode.
alrighty, here's what's happening. theres a folder with a ton of music in it that I created for the sole purpose of gathering it all in one place. now, when you rollover the folder icon, double click it, explore it, search it, open it, etc, you get the send/dont-send windows error and explorer crashes and restarts when you click dont-send.
My mother-in-law's PC Seem to have a problem. Everytime she double click on IE7 It launches the program then it simply vanishes. Same goes when she tris to acces her email through Windows Live messenger (I configured her email in Windows Live Mail, so no worries for that)I can see the process in task manager ( a good dozen of time if she clicked on it that many time) At first, I thought it was a Virus... but I scanned using Avast Home Ed.... to avail. nothing found
I just noticed that I have 2 Internet Explorer Processes in the task manager as IEXPLORER.exe Why is it in all caps now? I have never seen it this way before I always use FF so I don't know if this is how it is but it opens 2 IExplorers as soon as I enter windows. Does this mean I may have a virus or something?
