I just noticed that I have 2 Internet Explorer Processes in the task manager as IEXPLORER.exe Why is it in all caps now? I have never seen it this way before I always use FF so I don't know if this is how it is but it opens 2 IExplorers as soon as I enter windows. Does this mean I may have a virus or something?

Had major trojans, spyware, etc. Ran Malawarebytes removed all beautifully except when I rebooted, I have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. When I right click on desktop, nothing. Can access Task Manager and get to files that way but no way to activate desktop. What has happened here? Also, nothing on desktop when I go into SafeMode.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with processes that won't close like they're supposed to. Mainly after an installation, or after an update. After installations, every thing goes fine until it's time to finish. After the install wizard closes, it is impossible to restart that program. Upon checking Task Manager, there are no applications running, but the process of whatever was just installed is still there. Highlight the process, click terminate, ok the warning and it does nothing. If I try to start that program, it tells me another applications of said program is already running. Same thing happens after updates, primarily games. Eventually, after some choice words, I have to restart my computer. Most times, shutdown won't work so I have to turn it off at the switch

If I go to the task manager, I notice I get multiple IEXPLORER.EXE processes appearing, some taking a good quantity of RAM over. If I try and end the process it comes back after a second and grows in file size. I've read some other threads and have HijackerThis 1.9, I can't see anything suscpicious in the log, but I'm a novice at that sort of thing. Also I checked for trojans etc and other files/folders but could see anything obvious.

So much errors - explorer.exe does not run at start up - task manager sometimes is disabled by administrator (but works sometimes, like now, so that i can run explorer.exe from it) - windows live communictaions always has problems - MSN, not working, just freezing. There has also been shortcuts to porn sites and gaming sites put everywhere. CMD is not working either, hardly anything is. Registry editing and task manager have been disabled by restrictive policies that are executed at startup. I worked my way using group policy editor (gpedit.msc) but the changes show no effect on these policies. They keep coming again and again no matter how many times i delete their registry keys. Their location is KCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent VersionPoliciessystem and the keys are "DisableRegistryTools" and "DisableTaskMgr". A friend of mine has a 4 yr. old PC running XP Home with 128Mb of memory. He's had problems with programs aborting recently. I tried to run Device Manager to make sure there were no issues there. It briefly brought the screen up, then it went away. The same thing happened to Task Manager when I tried to see what was running and how much memory was being used. Anybody ever see this behavior before? I might try installing a memory cleaner pgm (ie. Memturbo), but I'm not sure I would even be able to get it to run. The hard drive amd memory seem to have no errors.

The mouse pointer remains active but i cannot click on anything succesfully. The task bar and task manager do not respond at all, i can open files saved on my desktop but cannot do anything when they're open and cannot close them again. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running XP on a sony vaio laptop. I accidentally agreed to some prompt while browsing the internet and next thing I knew, popups everywhere and the screen froze. Everytime I restarted, I couldn't do anything but access taskmanager or msconfig. I had excess of 65 processes running. After starting in safemode and uninstalling a bunch of malware (still have command.exe on there that I can't delete and I know nail.exe still present) I can actually do stuff like open IE although I can't use it. At one point I found the app kill32 and ran it because I figured it couldn't get any worse and after that it stopped freezing on startup. Now there is this weird DLL error that comes on when I reboot. Anyways, is there anything specific that I should look for and can eliminate manually? I don't have any anti-virus progs or anything like adaware.

When I opened task manager there were several net.exe and net1.exe processes running. I would end a process and a new one would take its place. I scanned for spyware and viruses. The spyware that was found was cleaned. There were no viruses. When I ran in Safe Mode there were no problems.

my e6400 cpu does not show up in device manager. it shows up in the bios, and it shows up in the system information screen that lists your computer name, memory installed etc. it does not appear in device manager and task manager only shows one cpu. this is an intel core2 duo processor. system works good just doesnt show up in device manager in windows xp sp2.

I clicked some virus and opened it like a idiot I need smoe help removing it. Everytime I CTRL+ALT+DELETE, the task manager comes up then its killed for some reason. The same happened for when yuou try and bring up the *forgot the name* thing to make everythiung smaller on the harddrive to get more room.I have looked at several things to try and get rid of this virus, but its not working.
