EXPLORER.EXE Not Running In Task Manager Processes?
Feb 17, 2009
Had major trojans, spyware, etc. Ran Malawarebytes removed all beautifully except when I rebooted, I have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. When I right click on desktop, nothing. Can access Task Manager and get to files that way but no way to activate desktop. What has happened here? Also, nothing on desktop when I go into SafeMode.
i'm having a lot of lockup probs while playing call of duty multi. xp2400 gigabyte nforce, 512 corsair, maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm.in task manager processes i'm running almost 120,000k is that normal ? is there a way to post my task manager processes readout?my hijack log is clean, running spyware blaster, avast a/v, roboform, zone alarm. and a temp monitor.case is clean and all 4 fans are working. heatsink is clean.core temp normally runs around 113 f but saw it get up to around 150 once.
When I press ctrl-alt-delete, all at the same time I get a view of TASK MANAGER.Currently I have 47 processes running.I am not sure what these are, what they are doing and if they are all necessary. I am sure they are using resources that could be used elsewhere.
I just noticed that I have 2 Internet Explorer Processes in the task manager as IEXPLORER.exe Why is it in all caps now? I have never seen it this way before I always use FF so I don't know if this is how it is but it opens 2 IExplorers as soon as I enter windows. Does this mean I may have a virus or something?
My computer has been chogging quite a bit lately after booting up and continues to run sluggish...I've noticed the explorer.exe in my task manager is running extremely high. It seems to start up about 5 minutes after booting up, and continues to wreak havoc. I've seen this to be a problem everywhere from an a hole virus to RAM not sitting correctly. I've ran Ad Aware, AVG and a few others to check for a virus or anykind of malicious spyware...everything has come back clean.
I have a strange issue. I have a couple of processes that do not show in task manager at all. The strange part is they do on my other PC's.If I start Word I don't see word.exe if I start some games I don't see their *.exe's I find it to be strange that htings aren't being listed in here. Uninstall and reinstall of offending softwares is not changing anything.Mind you Process manager is not empty it has a fair amount going on... just some never show up.Also no rhyme or reason as far as application opening times I can start up word first and it not show up but then start up internet explorer and see the iexplore.exe.
I'm having a problem with processes that won't close like they're supposed to. Mainly after an installation, or after an update. After installations, every thing goes fine until it's time to finish. After the install wizard closes, it is impossible to restart that program. Upon checking Task Manager, there are no applications running, but the process of whatever was just installed is still there. Highlight the process, click terminate, ok the warning and it does nothing. If I try to start that program, it tells me another applications of said program is already running. Same thing happens after updates, primarily games. Eventually, after some choice words, I have to restart my computer. Most times, shutdown won't work so I have to turn it off at the switch
when I click on task manager it only shows the running task window. it used to have a list of all startup stuff and a thing where I could look at a graph of cpu usage, but those are not there anymore
I have 3 instances of CLI.exe running in the task Manager. If I close two, will it screw up some of the programs that may depend on it, or can I close all 3 instances without any problems?
I am new to Windows XP. When I had Windows ME, I only had one thing running under task manager, and that was explorer. My computer ran really quick. Under Task Manager for XP, under Processes, there is quite a bit running. I have everything unchecked under msconfig start up. What all do I need to have running under task manager and where do I go to get rid of these programs running under processes?
Ive been having problems with my desktop computer. If you open up any program, the CPU usage immeaditely goes from like 0 to 100% and occassionally it will shut down and restart. Such times are when I try to run ad-aware or AVG. It will shoot up to 100%, maybe run for a minute then restart the computer. I cant even delete some files because it just restarts before they delete. So, I tried to do a restore since the last time ive been home when it was working good, about a month ago and it did nothing.
our computer is running slowly. When trying to open programs the hour glass flashes and so do the icons. I ctrl alt del to check my usage and it keeps going up to the high 90's and then back down. I have updated and ran Adaware , spybot and AVG.
My computer started running slow. I noticed in Task Manager that there were processes that ended in ' .t ' Running a search on my computer showed that there are over 100,000 .t files now on my computer. I've run Spy Sweeper, which blocks some of these from starting up, but won't get rid of them. Same with Spyware bot. What are these files? and how do I get rid of them?
So basically my computer is not doing just about everything - I am lucky for it to be working right now. So much errors - explorer.exe does not run at start up - task manager sometimes is disabled by administrator (but works sometimes, like now, so that i can run explorer.exe from it) - windows live communictaions always has problems - MSN, not working, just freezing. There has also been shortcuts to porn sites and gaming sites put everywhere. CMD is not working either, hardly anything is. I have no idea how to fix it, someone said something about a SkyNet virus but I think it's more.
I was running BitDefender, and the day before, it had already deleted explorer.exe. But my computer was still working. I just had to use Task Manager to open programs. Today, whole running BitDefender, I was looking on the internet for a way to download another explorer.exe, and I found a zip file and downloaded it. BUT I can't unzip it without explorer.exe. And while scanning,BitDefender must have deleted my Task Manager. Now, when I start my computer,I have nothing ! No taskbar, start menu, icons, anything! Just wallpaper. And when I control-alt-delete, I get the menu, but when I choose Task Manager, nothing happens
I am running XP. The system is crawling. When I do a Task Manager or Ctrl Alt Delete, the little green square is full up and this is with no programs running except Windows. I am using Finity Soft Memory Manager and this program says Free Ram 54%, Memory Load Index 44%, and CPU 100%. How do I find out what programs are running other than using Task Manager which shows no programs running?
My mother-in-law's PC Seem to have a problem. Everytime she double click on IE7 It launches the program then it simply vanishes. Same goes when she tris to acces her email through Windows Live messenger (I configured her email in Windows Live Mail, so no worries for that)I can see the process in task manager ( a good dozen of time if she clicked on it that many time) At first, I thought it was a Virus... but I scanned using Avast Home Ed.... to avail. nothing found
Im having problems with explorer.exe in my task manager/computer it seems to be randomly using all of my processor power. It normally happens if i access my second hard drive, but does happen at other times. Has anybody got any ideas, it slows my pc down and i have to reboot to rectify the problem. I know this is an essential program that has to be running.
I have a very strange problem in my dell inspiron 6000 running win xp sp3. Registry editing and task manager have been disabled by restrictive policies that are executed at startup. I worked my way using group policy editor (gpedit.msc) but the changes show no effect on these policies. They keep coming again and again no matter how many times i delete their registry keys. Their location is KCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent VersionPoliciessystem and the keys are "DisableRegistryTools" and "DisableTaskMgr". I tried every known malwarespywareadware remover found on the internet (HJT, ComboFix, SmitFraudFix, AVZ etc.,) but these policies wont go away gpedit.msc is now corrupt in my laptop because i messed with it and Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 doesnt run after installation. The shell menu item "Scan for Viruses" is grayed out for no apparent reason. Not even one AV software works properly in my 4yr old Dell
At any one time I have approx 60 processes running, even after just booting up my computer. Although I am not a computer expert, this seems like too many to me. I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if this definitely is too many to run at once, and if there is some way I can post a list of the running processes and have someone with more knowledge help me get rid of some of them.
Win Xp, Dell and cable connection When I do ctrl>alt>del, it shows 17 System processes running. Are all of these necessary? Also, some of the other running processes i recognize, i.e. firewall, IM, anti-virus, but some of them I don't have a clue what they are. Is there a list somewhere of what should/shouldn't be running necessarily?
When I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete I am given a pop-up that says Task Manager has been disabled by the administrator. At any given time, when I am on the internet. I get a pop-up that says Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close. I usually click Don't Send and it closes out my Internet Explorer.
How many & what processes are necessary to start and run xp. Some maintanence programs that tell me how many running processes are there is around 20 to 30 processes. Which I think is slowing down the boot up of my laptop.
