Computer Running Slow: Task Manager Having Process Ending With .t?
Jan 15, 2007
My computer started running slow. I noticed in Task Manager that there were processes that ended in ' .t ' Running a search on my computer showed that there are over 100,000 .t files now on my computer. I've run Spy Sweeper, which blocks some of these from starting up, but won't get rid of them. Same with Spyware bot. What are these files? and how do I get rid of them?
our computer is running slowly. When trying to open programs the hour glass flashes and so do the icons. I ctrl alt del to check my usage and it keeps going up to the high 90's and then back down. I have updated and ran Adaware , spybot and AVG.
Why is it taking my computer 3 minutes to boot to the desktop? As you can see from my signature below, I don't have exactly a slow poke machine. All drives are defragged weekly, the BIOS is set to boot off of the hard disk, and I only have the one OS installed. This thing use to boot to the desktop in 20 seconds.
well i've been having problems with the computer running slow, and ive noticed that the system idle process in task manager always says 99 under the cpu tab, is this normal?
I have a main WIN XP Home Edition based computer with an Intel 3118 chip, 2GB RAM,190GB Hard drive with 126GB free, additional drive via USB with 470 GB and 399GB free and networked with a laptop and Dell computer all able to read each other. On the main computer I have 60+ icons on the desktop and have Zone Alarm Security Suite and Forcefield running updated.I have cleaned all computers with Crap Cleaner and Esaycleaner have defragged and deleted all unwanted files but still it takes some 9-10 minutes to boot from hot or cold and the close down of programs also takes between 1-2 minutes.
I'm trying to terminate a process in the task manager, but the process keeps coming back. How can I stop it?pogisanpoloPosted from http://www.pcreview.co.uk/ newsgroup access
when I click on task manager it only shows the running task window. it used to have a list of all startup stuff and a thing where I could look at a graph of cpu usage, but those are not there anymore
When I open my task manager i noticed there is a task running that I do not recognize, when i click 'properties' or 'open file location' nothing happens.
When I open task manager it says under memory usage that the process "system" is using 103,000 k this seems quite high and its only been using this much recently, I thought it might be a virus so I ran several scans using AVG, even a command line scan in safe mode and it found nothing malicious. Does anyone know why it would be using so much memory.
my computer was recently infected with a Trojan which i seem to have gotten rid of. Today when i opened the task manager it only seems to partially load. It will bring up the process list with the "End Process" button, but that is it. The other tabs and pull down menus are gone. The Task in the taskbar has the icon for it but doesn't have any words next to it
Has there ever been reports of this hogging resources in XP? I assume it's something that uses the CPU for other OS tasks when not in operation by the user. The problem is even when I'm using the computer it uses 97-99% of CPU.
I recently installed a program to block my internet at night so I can get back in to a normal routine. The only problem is I can simpley go in to task manager and end process and repair connection and i can do what I want again. I want to stop me from using computer at night so i can get in to a good happier routine. In order to stop me acessing program i passworded it with password i could not remember off top of my head, tried to make it as random as possible. but because i can just go in process and end it... its kinda pointless.
I left it so I can uninstall it because well there maybe a valid reason why I need to uninstall it sometime... and i know better then to never leave one safe clause. I know I wont uninstall it tho but because its so easy to just go to processes and end it... its just to easy. So I wanted away in which I can block processes from been closed or hide it so I can't close it like that.
i'm having a lot of lockup probs while playing call of duty multi. xp2400 gigabyte nforce, 512 corsair, maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm.in task manager processes i'm running almost 120,000k is that normal ? is there a way to post my task manager processes readout?my hijack log is clean, running spyware blaster, avast a/v, roboform, zone alarm. and a temp monitor.case is clean and all 4 fans are working. heatsink is clean.core temp normally runs around 113 f but saw it get up to around 150 once.
I have 3 instances of CLI.exe running in the task Manager. If I close two, will it screw up some of the programs that may depend on it, or can I close all 3 instances without any problems?
I am new to Windows XP. When I had Windows ME, I only had one thing running under task manager, and that was explorer. My computer ran really quick. Under Task Manager for XP, under Processes, there is quite a bit running. I have everything unchecked under msconfig start up. What all do I need to have running under task manager and where do I go to get rid of these programs running under processes?
When I press ctrl-alt-delete, all at the same time I get a view of TASK MANAGER.Currently I have 47 processes running.I am not sure what these are, what they are doing and if they are all necessary. I am sure they are using resources that could be used elsewhere.
idle system process is running constatly in the task manager i have tryed to run anti virus *after updating* running adaware se personal *after updating* still the idle system process is constantly runing and wont stop. i tryed to end task that wont work
Had major trojans, spyware, etc. Ran Malawarebytes removed all beautifully except when I rebooted, I have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. When I right click on desktop, nothing. Can access Task Manager and get to files that way but no way to activate desktop. What has happened here? Also, nothing on desktop when I go into SafeMode.
Ive been having problems with my desktop computer. If you open up any program, the CPU usage immeaditely goes from like 0 to 100% and occassionally it will shut down and restart. Such times are when I try to run ad-aware or AVG. It will shoot up to 100%, maybe run for a minute then restart the computer. I cant even delete some files because it just restarts before they delete. So, I tried to do a restore since the last time ive been home when it was working good, about a month ago and it did nothing.
My computer has been chogging quite a bit lately after booting up and continues to run sluggish...I've noticed the explorer.exe in my task manager is running extremely high. It seems to start up about 5 minutes after booting up, and continues to wreak havoc. I've seen this to be a problem everywhere from an a hole virus to RAM not sitting correctly. I've ran Ad Aware, AVG and a few others to check for a virus or anykind of malicious spyware...everything has come back clean.
My task manager indicates cpu usage 55-99% when no known programs are running.Norton 2005 sees no spyware, adware or virus. SpyBot sees a file running called Xuron55 can not access this file because it is being used by another program?
I am running XP. The system is crawling. When I do a Task Manager or Ctrl Alt Delete, the little green square is full up and this is with no programs running except Windows. I am using Finity Soft Memory Manager and this program says Free Ram 54%, Memory Load Index 44%, and CPU 100%. How do I find out what programs are running other than using Task Manager which shows no programs running?
I must use the Task Master to help me to get out of a program that has locked up on me. My PC is very slow now anyway and the Task Master CU usage always shows 100% even though I may not be running any program.
last night i was burning some dvds and my computer stopped responding. i hit alt ctrl del to bring up the task manager to end the program. it ended but it was like in slow motion. ever since then i cant pull up the task manager. it does nothing when i try to open it. also my computer is running really fast and loud like the drive is doing something. i dont know if i have programs running and i dont know about them.
I started getting random popups and my start page had changed, so i ran Microsoft antispyware. When the scan is halfway through my computer reboots. I tried with norton and ad-aware, but they also reboot halfway through the scan. My task manager is also disabled, and my background has changed to a blue screen that says something along the lines of: "System Stopped. System has been stopped due to a serious malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected."
I have been trying to start my computer for some time now but whenever the computer gets to the desktop screen, a ton of programs start popping up and eventually the computer restarts and the cycle continues until I shut the computer off. I am able to do virtually nothing on the computer before it restarts but I am able to see that the computer is running at 100% and has approx 180 applications running when I open the . I want to do a virus scan but cannot and no matter how many of the programs I try to close, it always restarts. Is there any way that I can stop all programs from processing at the start so it may not restart on me?
