Explorer W2000 : Wont Open Windows Explorer From Desktop ?

Hard drive crash, transplanted HD to new computer which now has 2 hard drives, C & D. Problem is I cannot open Windows Explorer from desktop or any other location, from either drive. I get a message that says it "generates errors." And that it is keeping a log, presumably for use on some Day of Judgment. (I get around it for now by right-clicking My Computer and picking Explore from the pop-up menu.)I have gone to the usual download sites in search of WE, no dice.

I recently had a problem on my computer where Internet explorer was not working and would'nt open, and no windows based functions that used the explorer interface would work... So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.

I have a Dell desktop with XP operating system ram:- 2gb. It hangs up when you have offce database open, miscrosoft outlook and Internet Explorer open. Its strange how it happens only on my particular desktop and it doesnt happen when I access my profile on a different Personal Computer office. As soon as it freezes. Then it would nt work even if I log out and log in into my pc.

I would like to have windows explorer open with all drives showing and with c:Program Files fully expanded (as if the + next to Program Files were clicked) in the left pane. I am currently using the target, "%SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n, /e, C:Program FilesAgent" which expands Program Files only to the extent that Agent is highlighted and expanded. How can I get it to open with all program files visible in the left pane? I must need another switch but don't know what it is or where to put it in the sequence.

every time i try to open anything that uses these programs i get a 'windows/internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close' crash i think i have a virus in my processes i have 2 strange ones one is n6tgoxae.exe the other is 86851316.exe norton fixes this is for a short while but then the problem soon returns i have also tried spybot search and destroy as well as running AdAware can anyone help me on how to fix my explorer problems and gettin rid of
these processes?

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Windows XP Home on it.My problem is as such:When ever I close an explorer window, the taskbar and desktop icons disappear for a few seconds...Its quite annoying, and it also closes any other Windows I have open.Programs don't seem to be affected.Has anyone come across this problem? And are there any solutions?

Recently, upon startup, i have been getting an error message that says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then asks me to tell Microsoft about the problem and i have the option to either send a error report or not to send one. Either way, after choosing one windows explorer terminates and restarts itself. Then the same error message pops up. Recently, when i keep sending the error report, after about the 4th or 5th time, my desktop will just freeze up

I made the change below however, if I click on a folder in the left hand "Folders" pane, it works as before and opens the folder and displayed in the contents in the right hand pane.
However, if I click on any folders in the right hand (files pane) a new windows explorer window opens a displays the "my documents".
The same thing happens if you click on a shortcut to a folder. Instead of the folder opening, it opens a new window and displays "my documents".
This problems started when I added a new function to the folder file folder file type properties to print out the contents of a folder by calling a batch file that piped the content to a file.
In the file association for file folders in the advanced section I now have three functions
- the afore mentioned 'create file list'
- explore (the default), and
- find
For the folder file type I just have:
- explore and
- open
Any suggestions on how to put things back to the way Windows Explorer always worked before make clicking folders in the right hand pane open them up properly in the same window as per clicking them on the left hand pane?

I have a computer that is running windows xp home edition. I cannot create a
shortcut to the windows explorer application on my desktop, as the windows
explorer program does not appear in the programs window. I know that if I
click on the start menu and navagate to the programs icon, a second window
wil appear showing all of the programs that are installed on my computer.
However in the programs menu, I cannot see my explorer application anywhere.

All Internet Explorer files ending in htm or html will not open. I get a window first from IE saying they have to close then a "Windows can't find."what ever I am trying to open at the time. I am a beginner at this and this is a royal pain. Also I am getting "Server Busy" box telling me to retry or switch to and when I do either nothing happens until I click a million times and finally a script error will come up.I am using Windows XP. Please help as soon as you can. I have some file work to do and this has stopped me cold.

I'm running Windows Xp x64 edition and just today, when I tried to open my Internet Explorer 32-bit edition, nothing would happen. When I clicked on my Internet Explorer 32-bit icon on the desktop I would get an hourglass symbol next to my mouse cursor for not even a second and then nothing. My Internet Explorer 64-bit edition and my Firefox work just fine, but I would really like to use my 32-bit edition because all my favorite sites are stored in there.

I have Windows XP. My computer is one year old and never any problems till now. For the last week I cannot open Internet Explorer 6.0. I get a Runtime error message. Microsoft Visual C+++ Runtime Library ("Runtime Error", Program C:ProgramFilesInternetExploreriexplore.exe).Any ideas how to fix this and what the problem may be. While trying to change the global icon for folders, I seem to have changed whatever the folder opens with. Now when I open a folder in explorer, it opens a new explorer window instead of just doing it in that one. http://pi.monkeh.net/ explorer_ problem.avi. This is a short video clip demonstrating my problem, since visuals work better than text. I tried reverting whatever I did through Folder Options > File types, but no disc.

Then, to open the Internet, I had to open the programs menu, and double clikc ont it. I came to the forum and try to download "Highjack this" but I cannot open any link, plus the address bar is not visible

As stated one of our customers has some windows based software (Sage Line 100 and Telemagic to be precise) which is run from a shortcut on the desktop mapped to a network share with the exe located within. whenever you run either of these shortcuts or even if you navigate directly to the file you get the error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" the users in question have full local rights and full control over the files on the server inc the exe. As they are part of the USERs group which have full control. The Administrator has no problem in getting this file to run

I have tested it on more then 5 computers with Windows XP Professional on it, with different applications on it. I got every time the same result. What I do: I select 2 or more files in the explorer by holding the CTRL or shift key. These files are all from the same type. Then do a right mouse click and select "Open With" What I get: I get at first for the first selected file a folder selection window with the headline MOVE. I cancel this action, then I get a 2nd folder selection window now with the headline COPY. I cancel this window again. Then I get the Program Selection Window I expect. I select for example Paint Shop Pro. Any other program has the same outcome. The program will start like expected. But now I must handle this procedure for any file I have previous selected inside the explorer. And the program will start again and
again.

when I would open up folders and Windows Explorer would have an error message and then it would refresh my computer and close all Windows Explorer Window(s). Ive researched quite a bit in my spare time in the past two days and found that it could be related to ntdll.dll. But in my research I haven't really found any solutions, yet it almost seems like a common/uncommon problem.
I have done a few system restores all of which were unable to return to a previous state. I am up to date on the latest virus/spyware/adware definitions and ran scans using: Norton Internet Security 2007, Spy Sweeper, AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Stinger......

This also happens when I right-click on the desktop, but after that message, I get a similar one from Dr. Postmortem Debugger (or something like that) and the computer freezes.

I am running a dell 4600 computer. I have windows xp home addition. My problem is when i go into exp. it opens and goes to where i tell it to, then is stops, freezes and then an error box comes up saying they have encounter an error and must shut down. It also says that if i continue to have this problem, to restart my computer. Well i have restarted my computer 4 times and the same thing keeps happening. I have run the Adware program i have and have found some bugs there, but it doesn't seem like that is what the problem is.

When I try to access some folders in my directory I get the following error.Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.I feel like the old blue screen of death would have been easier to fix.Anyone have any suggestions? I read somewhere that this can have something to do with windows explorer 6 but I can't find this in my control panel to remove.I do have service pack 2 installed if that makes any difference.

I deleted the IE 6 because it was giving me an error when I tried to open it and got Mozilla because I was tired of trying to figure it out, yes I know, what a way to handle it heh. there are things I need IE for, MSN Messenger winks for one unless someone has found a way to make it work without IE. I installed IE7 on my computer, but it is doing the exact same thing that IE6 was, error when you try to open it Internet Explorere encountered a problem and needs to close.
