amezivhqg.exe virus has slowed down my applications and i have not been able to access the internet. But i restored my system and i have been able to access the net. Please advise on what to do now so that it does not affect my comp in the future.

View 14 Replies View RelatedLast night I burned a cd using WMP 9 and everything was fine. It was done in about 10 min, then afterwards I closed everything and turned my computer off. This morning I started it up, and tryed to play a computer game. All of the sounds were slowed down to about 50%. I quit that and went to WMP to see if those sounds worked. They all played at 50% too. All of the sounds in windows do the same thing.

Have gone into "My computer" - then "advanced options" and increased virtual memory to 1500. There is a good amount of space on the disc. But actions made no difference and still get the message that the virtual memory is low. Speed of computer has not improved.Will try "System restore".
My computer has 66gb of space. a few days ago, when i checked,it had 33gb of free space.since then, i updated my adobe reader, and i also upgraded my antivirus to Norton Antivirus 2007. Now there appears to be only 22gb of free space.Is this normal? Now( i think As a result,of this upgrading), my computer now is really slow to startup,and just as slow when reloading from a hibernated state. is there anything i can do to speed up the computer startup,or is there something wrong?

The keyboard died, so I bought a new cheapie that connects via USB. And I still have the wireless mouse. Since the change, my computer has slowed horribly, with keyboard and mouse commands, in particular, taking too long to register. I have removed the Logitech Itouch keyboard software (not the Mouseware),and installed the new keyboard software. I have defragged, scanned for viruses, and used Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper to see if I had some clogging spyware.

I removed and reconnected the battery to shut down and restart.Well, since then my computer has been unbearably slow. Every task from start-up (20 minutes, if at all) to loading Firefox (10 minutes) in awful. It takes a very long time to even load the interface fully. Most of the programs in Startup (MSConfig)also do not load. I have recently installed Norton 2005. I have scanned the system for Trojans, viruses, SpywareAdware etc. But nothing shows up. Is it because of NAV?? MSConfig/Startup also does not have any unknown entries.

I think that I got rid of it, but I am not sure could anyone that can read a log please tell me if there is anything else left in the computer. The computer now doesn't stay on-line it disconnects itself. I called the company that provides me with my internet service, and they said that I need a filter for the phone line. The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. Trouble is some of the install disks have been lost/misplaced since the old computer was 6 years old. I saw with XP you can transfer the contents of an old HD to a XP setup but it seems to suggest that you do this while you are installing XP not afterwards. Is it possible to transfer these applications to the new computer?

1. Applications keep shutting down
2. The computer randomly shuts off

Computer screen will go black, and the cursor will turn into a larger cursor like the cursor looks like when it is in safe mode, and I won't even be able to move the cursor; the fans also started kicking in when it did this as if it were starting to work really hard (only did this once).I've scanned for viruses and spyware. It was relatively clean. Then I did a sfc /scannow. Seemed to work for a while, but now it's acting weird again.
All of the sudden yesterday my computer just decided to start running very slowly. Nothing really changed with the exception of me installing the new Java update that my computer told me it needed. Now, at all times, all the items in my task manager use a huge amount of memory and I am completely unable to multitask. Right now, Firefox is using 180,000K of memory and this is the only website I have up, as well as the only program that I am running. Neither Firefox or IE ever used to use this much memory. I have included a screenshot of the task manager from when I first restarted my computer today. I have restarted, defragged, cleaned up the disk, everything. My specs are as follows: Dell Laptop, Intel Celeron M Processor 1.40 Ghz, 504mb of RAM, 80gb hard drive (hard drive is brand new).
Even when Firefox or IE is the only thing running, some websites bog the entire computer down and it stalls for minutes without moving. Then, all of the sudden, it catches up with itself and does everything I tried to do while it was frozen. I know I don't have a lot of RAM and it isn't the newest and fastest system out there, but the sudden onset of this makes me think that my computer isn't just outdated, something changed in the system. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? How can I stop all these applications from using so much memory and be able to multitask and stream online media again?
I'm running a newly built system and am having an issue when running graphics-intensive programs, specifically a full system freeze. I don't believe I was having this problem at first, as I didn't notice anything unusual with a graphics-intensive game (Guild Wars) when the system was first up and running. Now, though, I can't run graphics intensive tasks without the system freezing. I updated a whole host of drivers in between, so I can't pinpoint a change or two that might've done it. System restore is acting a bit odd, telling me it can't restore to X point and no changes were made (but unfortunately offers no additional info on why).
