for the past couple of months, my computer has slowed down quite a bit. its like twice as slow as when i first got it. i have no idea what may have cause this problem. if you have any idea whats wrong with it, just let me know.
Last night I burned a cd using WMP 9 and everything was fine. It was done in about 10 min, then afterwards I closed everything and turned my computer off. This morning I started it up, and tryed to play a computer game. All of the sounds were slowed down to about 50%. I quit that and went to WMP to see if those sounds worked. They all played at 50% too. All of the sounds in windows do the same thing.
The computer is slow to load windows 2000. Takes several mintues to connect to the net. Message showing that "Virtual Memory is low". Have gone into "My computer" - then "advanced options" and increased virtual memory to 1500. There is a good amount of space on the disc. But actions made no difference and still get the message that the virtual memory is low. Speed of computer has not improved. Will try "System restore".
My computer has 66gb of space. a few days ago, when i checked,it had 33gb of free space.since then, i updated my adobe reader, and i also upgraded my antivirus to Norton Antivirus 2007. Now there appears to be only 22gb of free space. Is this normal? Now( i think As a result,of this upgrading), my computer now is really slow to startup, and just as slow when reloading from a hibernated state. is there anything i can do to speed up the computer startup,or is there something wrong?
My computer seems to be getting slower and slower....I have a lot of hard drive space left, and have a decent amount of RAM. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me figure out what's going on, and fix the problem?

I have had problems in the past with trojan horses and what not, and thought I had cleaned my computer out. It was running ok for a week or 2, and now it has slowed way down, taking forever to even open up "my computer." Also, a problem that I've had before has returned, which is that the computer will randomly shut off while im using it, while its idling, anytime. I have a dell inspiron laptop running windows xp.
I have windows xp and just downloaded service pack 2.Before this I ran with only 32 - 35 processes. After downloading I starting running 48 -51 processes and making my computer very slow.
I have a fairly new computer running Win XP. On it, I had an older Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with appropriate software. The keyboard died, so I bought a new cheapie that connects via USB. And I still have the wireless mouse. Since the change, my computer has slowed horribly, with keyboard and mouse commands, in particular, taking too long to register. I have removed the Logitech Itouch keyboard software (not the Mouseware),and installed the new keyboard software. I have defragged, scanned for viruses, and used Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper to see if I had some clogging spyware.
My computer lately has been slowing down and my IE explorer keeps crashing on certain sites from some odd reason. I have ran spyware, adware, virus, malaware scans on a frequent bases but it still does not work.
I know I'm low on memory, but I can't afford more. It was running okay until two days ago, when it became impossible to work with. I've run intelliscan, spybot and adaware.
A couple of weeks ago I was searching the net and everything froze. Trying to shut down properly, NOTHING would work, including the power button. I removed and reconnected the battery to shut down and restart.Well, since then my computer has been unbearably slow. Every task from start-up (20 minutes, if at all) to loading Firefox (10 minutes) in awful. There are times where nothing even loads, all I see is my background and a cursor, nothing more.On the lucky chance that I do get everything up and running, it is slow to the point where even the clock is behind other clocks around me (cable box, other laptop) by 8-20 or so minutes.
I've been having terrible problems with my computer. I'm running windows XP. I cannot launch anything from the desktop nor access system restore. Alswhen i'm online the pages are staggered as i scrawl down. (the box comes up as blank space) have zone alarm (trial version) anti virus and anti <A TITLE="Click for more information about spyware" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;"

I am about to download and install XP Service Pack 2. When I attempted to do this when SP2 first came out, my computer slowed almost to a standstill and I uninstalled it.
I installed wubi to try out ubuntu, it worked great but i have now uninstalled ubuntu as i couldnt get internet on my dell Insipron 1501. I have now gone back to windows xp and my computer is so slow !! I have 1512mb ram and it feels like i have 512mb.
My daughters computer has something called "Trojan horse downloader Generic 4.ZQI, this has caused all sorts of problems with connecting onto the internet and has slowed the computer.
My system uses Intel 810 Motherboard and Penitum -3, 800MHZ processor. I have Windows XP Professional installed. My problem is that the system has slowed down very much. It takes a very long time to even load the interface fully. Most of the programs in Startup (MSConfig)also do not load. I have recently installed Norton 2005. I have scanned the system for Trojans, viruses, SpywareAdware etc. But nothing shows up. Is it because of NAV?? MSConfig/Startup also does not have any unknown entries.
I imported a picture from my docs and somehow it imported the whole folder which has slowed my computer on start up and shut down. how can i remove these pictures from this background box permanently
My friend, who has given a Dell Optiplex GX240 running Win2K Pro. 512MB RAM To help her out, I got rid of porn, viruses, and spyware using: Ad-Aware, AVG spyware and AV free versions, Trend Micro House Call, Spybot I checked the task manager, and has constant 100% CPU usage, avg memory usage The system runs, but apps open slow, so I tried some freeware reg cleaners: CCleaner, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner.
I recently installed a winTV card in my computer, ever since that I have noticed that when I press ctrl, alt and delete, the cpu usage appears to be 100% full whenever I try to open an mpeg file I have recorded from the TV card. it is a pentium 4 2.8 ghz processor.
All of a sudden my computer came to a screaching halt. It says in windows task manager that my cpu usage is at 100%.The image name using all the time is "system" The user name is "system" The cpu is 99
This is a fairly recent problem. I have a Dell computer about 4 months old. Here's a description of the problem. I would appreciate any assistance I can get. I was going to call Dell but I've found I get better help here than Dell! My CPU will start to get louder than normal (it sounds like it is working overtime in there). At the same time, IE freezes up and pages won't load anymore. I can still use email and MSN IM normally, as well as other programs. When I check the "windows task manager," it says the CPU usage is 100%, when normally it's around 2-5% It will do this for up to an hour. Even if I reboot, after it has started up, it continues do this same thing. After it finishes whatever it is doing, CPU usage goes back down and IE works normally again. I'm afraid it might be some spybot program or something that is taking over. I can't figure out what is wrong. But I know this is a good place to come for
You know how sometimes in cop shows or shows that have police investigations in them, they look somewhere on a computer to find out where the user has been on the internet or what he/she has been doing. I know about (but it doesn't show everything, seemingly):C:Documents and Settings(owners name)Local SettingsHistory
