This is a fairly recent problem. I have a Dell computer about 4 months old. Here's a description of the problem. I would appreciate any assistance I can get. I was going to call Dell but I've found I get better help here than Dell! My CPU will start to get louder than normal (it sounds like it is working overtime in there). At the same time, IE freezes up and pages won't load anymore. I can still use email and MSN IM normally, as well as other programs. When I check the "windows task manager," it says the CPU usage is 100%, when normally it's around 2-5% It will do this for up to an hour. Even if I reboot, after it has started up, it continues do this same thing. After it finishes whatever it is doing, CPU usage goes back down and IE works normally again. I'm afraid it might be some spybot program or something that is taking over. I can't figure out what is wrong. But I know this is a good place to come for
I reformatted my computer thinking it would solve the problem,it was ok for a while but while i was doing my homework my computer hang so i need to soft restart my computer, then a message appeared before the admininstration log in, it says "One of the files containing system's registry data had to be recovered by using of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful." the symptoms came back on my computer it takes a while to load all the application on the computer, i thought my previous symptom was because my computer has many corrupt files so it slows down but this time my computer was freshly reformated .It was the same message that appeared that i ignored because i thought it was ok because windows says that it was successful.now i do not know what to do.
All of a sudden my computer slows to down. When I open task manager there are 15-20 programs running. But all the programs just say task manager.I delete them all but they come back a few hours later. I have run a virus scan with my Norton program but nothing. What is causing all this?
My PC has slowed down considerably, so I opened the Windows Task Manager and under "Processes" there are 101 processes listed. 53 of those processes are "iexplore.exe" The "Mem Usage" listed for these varies between approximately 14,000 K to 40,000 K. I have looked at the Windows Task Manager sometimes in the past and iexplore.exe certainly wasn't listed this many times. Should I end these processes, and if so, how can I keep this from happening again?
When I try to open "My Computer" it searches for about 30-40 seconds before it finds all my drives and so on... If I open directly to another folder or anywhere else it opens right away...?
when i tried to open a game a msg appeared which means my ram doesnt have enough space to open the game. If i continue i can get some errors. That was a normal game and I never got a msg like this before. After a few days it was getting bigger and bigger. Now a days if i click on refresh it takes around 3-5 sec. to refresh. My computer takes 30 sec to open. This is really fustrating. I never had a problem like this. My pc hangs up many times. I hav kaspersky antivirus. I did a scan all over my computer. But didnt get anything.
My friend, who has given a Dell Optiplex GX240 running Win2K Pro. 512MB RAM To help her out, I got rid of porn, viruses, and spyware using: Ad-Aware, AVG spyware and AV free versions, Trend Micro House Call, Spybot I checked the task manager, and has constant 100% CPU usage, avg memory usage The system runs, but apps open slow, so I tried some freeware reg cleaners: CCleaner, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner.
I recently installed a winTV card in my computer, ever since that I have noticed that when I press ctrl, alt and delete, the cpu usage appears to be 100% full whenever I try to open an mpeg file I have recorded from the TV card. it is a pentium 4 2.8 ghz processor.
new to this whole thing but here goes. lately my computer has just gone to crap, ram useage gone through the roof and thus everything runs slower and going from one program to another just lags. I recently installed a new hdd although i couldnt see how that would affect it? Either way here is the hijack this log
All of a sudden my computer came to a screaching halt. It says in windows task manager that my cpu usage is at 100%.The image name using all the time is "system" The user name is "system" The cpu is 99
You know how sometimes in cop shows or shows that have police investigations in them, they look somewhere on a computer to find out where the user has been on the internet or what he/she has been doing. I know about (but it doesn't show everything, seemingly):C:Documents and Settings(owners name)Local SettingsHistory

When using AOL Broadband the computer slows down and sometimes takes several seconds to refresh a page.I happened to open the Task Managerand two things came to light:I cannot get the complete Task Manager panel...It only shows TASK and STATUS..it used to show lots more. Also, and this is my problem,it shows CPU USAGE 100%.If I close AOL and go back online it is ok for a while and then starts to slow down to a crawl.
I am running xp sp2 the cpu usage is 100 % and pc locks up for about half an hour after boot up the the cpu usage drops to normal. I found sdfix on this site and ran it here is the report i got
Recently found my computer running very slow almost stopped, not able to perform any function. Through task manager found CPU running at a steady 100%. Ran Hijackthis, spybot, and updated and ran antivirus - with no problems found. started in safe mode and CPU usage was at 1%. Working through msconfig i started turning services off untill i found culprit. The plug and play service is causing my problem with the CPU, but I don't know how to fix it.
I'll make it short.I bought an SSD for FASTER booting times and it's just AMAZING. Though i'm still not satisfied with some things. I switched to winXP due to some issues in windows 7. Here when i restart the PC, when the Windows Splash screen appears, the PC remains IDLE for like 5 seconds. I mean its IDLE, No processor usage/ No HD usage/ and NO Service loading. It's just annoying me. And right after 4 seconds the SSD picks up and the desktop comes up INSTANTLY.
I'm running XP pro SP2. I have a gig of ram and my mother board is an Intel D101GGC. My CPU is Intel Pentium D 920.
If I use Windows Explorer to go deeper than the first level of any tree, CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there. I've disabled System Restore because it wouldn't let me go back in time anyway and this program is a known resource gobbler. Didn't help. I've attached a hijackthis logfile to see if anyone recognizes a Trojan, etc. I would appreciate any help at all.
Could someone please take a look at my HJT log. My CPU went up to 100% about ten minutes ago and hasn't dropped since. I didn't see any odd processes and I just restarted and it just jumped right back up to 100.
I have a laptop operating on Windows XP. Recently my computer has become extremely slow. I have gone into task manager and noticed that the CPU usage is quite high, even when there is very little running. At times the system idle will hover in the 90% range, however the CPU usage will also stay in the same range. (As far as I know, if idle is at 90%, than CPU usage should not be higher than 10%). I can't figure out what else is running that is making the CPU usage run so high. I have run various virus and spyware tests and all have come out clean. I have used cc cleaner to clean my registry and even update some of my out of date drivers but the problem has continued.
I was just in itunes adding about 12 songs when my comp not only froze, but it also gave me a blue screen. I didn't copy the exact number/code it gave me, but it did say kernal_data_inpage_error. Right now, it seems fine. Not blazing fast, but normal. I had itunes opened about 10 minutes ago just after restarting and it took a good 5 minutes just to cntrl alt delete and use task manager to close it. I also got a blue screen once over night when trying to use MyDefrag to defrag my larger slave drive. It worked fine in defragmenting my smaller master drive.
My computer is running at 100% full capacity all of the time. As you can imagine, this makes things run very slowly. Any ideas of what could be causing this problem? My task manager has unfortunately stopped showing processes, and no programs are running when the capacity shows 100% usage.
I'm using a dell inspiron 8000, Windows 2000, Pentium III.
When I run IE, Outlook or several other applications, which I can't run at the same time or the computer works forever to do anything, my CPU usage jumps to 100%. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I am having a problem on my xp pro machine my computer is very laggy and when I go into task mamagment with crtl-alt-delete it should cpu resource usage 99% it's not suppose to be this can
our computer is running slowly. When trying to open programs the hour glass flashes and so do the icons. I ctrl alt del to check my usage and it keeps going up to the high 90's and then back down. I have updated and ran Adaware , spybot and AVG.
My CPU Usage always shows 100% and my system is getting very slow although I have not installed any big software and have strong antivirus (symantec) whose definition files are updated .So , why is it happening?
after being online for about 2-2and a half hours my comp slows way down to the point of not being able to much of anything. Then after I let it sit for around 20-30 minutes it clears up and does fine. Just wondering why it started doing this and what I can do to resolve this issue.
SInce the past week I notice that the system slows down tremendously. When I go to Task Manager I notice that the CPU utilisation is 100% and spoolsv.exe is the process which is causing it. I have to resort to ending the process but this is not a good solutions and the problem keeps repeating. I use AVG free to eliminate viruses.
