Recently found my computer running very slow almost stopped, not able to perform any function. Through task manager found CPU running at a steady 100%. Ran Hijackthis, spybot, and updated and ran antivirus - with no problems found. started in safe mode and CPU usage was at 1%. Working through msconfig i started turning services off untill i found culprit. The plug and play service is causing my problem with the CPU, but I don't know how to fix it.
Could someone please take a look at my HJT log. My CPU went up to 100% about ten minutes ago and hasn't dropped since. I didn't see any odd processes and I just restarted and it just jumped right back up to 100.

our computer is running slowly. When trying to open programs the hour glass flashes and so do the icons. I ctrl alt del to check my usage and it keeps going up to the high 90's and then back down. I have updated and ran Adaware , spybot and AVG.
I noticed my laptop lagging a lot. I checked the CPU usage, and it was constantly at 100%. After retstart and shutdown, the cpu usage would never go lower than 100%. I did a system restore to a week ago when I did not have this problem, but this did not help. Did a spyware scan with Spybot and Ad Aware, again no help. Did a virus scan with TrendMicro, no help again.
My computer started running extremely slow. When I check the task manager it notes that the CPU usage is spiked at 100%. I checked to see what is using most of the CPU and its "explorer.exe" using about 99%.
I bought this new computer about 6 months ago and up till now no problems. I have Windows XP and now Internet usage is running ver very slow. It seems the green line on bottom takes for ever to go across. i know this has been posted before but none of the solutions have worked for me. i have a toshiba satellite laptop. it started running extremely slow and the cpu usage is at 100% all the time. i reformatted and reinstalled windows xp but that didn't solve the problem. i noticed when i was reinstalling windows xp, it was going slowly as it did before, and i hadn't even started up windows yet. when i would click the next button when installing it would do the same slow lagging thing. i tried everything when i did start windows too. i tried deleting the explorer.exe process and retyping it in
I have windows xp And its running slow , i have just done a system restore, and its still running slow. I have just noticed that In windows task manager,in performance its saying that the cpu usage is 100% when i have nothing running.
My computer is running at 100% full capacity all of the time. As you can imagine, this makes things run very slowly. Any ideas of what could be causing this problem? My task manager has unfortunately stopped showing processes, and no programs are running when the capacity shows 100% usage.

Lately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank
I have a laptop operating on Windows XP. Recently my computer has become extremely slow. I have gone into task manager and noticed that the CPU usage is quite high, even when there is very little running. At times the system idle will hover in the 90% range, however the CPU usage will also stay in the same range. (As far as I know, if idle is at 90%, than CPU usage should not be higher than 10%). I can't figure out what else is running that is making the CPU usage run so high. I have run various virus and spyware tests and all have come out clean. I have used cc cleaner to clean my registry and even update some of my out of date drivers but the problem has continued.
I had dial up 4 years, I finally got DSL a month agao, now instead of my computer running faster , it is running slower than dial up! I also get a message after I shut down a window, ( memory could not be read error ) sorry I forget the numbers but will copy them down when i log off. I have Windows XP Home Edition.
We run Comcast high speed, two computers running though a router setup. My son "opened a port" to speed up his game play. My computer now crawls. Pages take too long to load, and I now sometimes get the server error message here, server not responding. Any idea what I can do. My son seems baffled, but I know he doesn't want to sacrifice his warp speed game play.

My friend, who has given a Dell Optiplex GX240 running Win2K Pro. 512MB RAM To help her out, I got rid of porn, viruses, and spyware using: Ad-Aware, AVG spyware and AV free versions, Trend Micro House Call, Spybot I checked the task manager, and has constant 100% CPU usage, avg memory usage The system runs, but apps open slow, so I tried some freeware reg cleaners: CCleaner, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner.
My pc was working just fine a few days ago then last night i go on it was just dragging.Everything was loading slow despite the fact i have even firefox was loading slow which it never does.Anyway i asked my sister who was the last one on if she clicked on anything but no surprise the reply was I didn't do anything so i guess it was a ghost .I ran NAV but nothing found then again NAV doesn't seem to find anything
I ran Ad Aware SE and later Spyawre Doctor and found nothing also clen temp. files on IE/Tools/temp folders then I ran %temp% and deleted all temp files but it gave me an Error File or Folder mon000 that says close any programs that might be using the file and try again. I don' know what file that is. there are two files that were not deleted: mon000.log and one named Dat.File pefib Perfdata Also ran ATF-cleaner
Win XP HE SP2. Dell 8300 3.0 Ghz .PC takes minutes from startup to desktop. All programs much slower than usual.I regularly use Defrag, Have Microsoft anti spyware, Panda anti virus, Ad Aware Spybot, System Mechanic Pro.etc.Have tried everything!
Why is it taking my computer 3 minutes to boot to the desktop? As you can see from my signature below, I don't have exactly a slow poke machine. All drives are defragged weekly, the BIOS is set to boot off of the hard disk, and I only have the one OS installed.This thing use to boot to the desktop in 20 seconds.
